Description

STRUCTURE FOR RETRACTABLE SLIDING DOORS AND THE LIKE The present invention relates to a structure for retractable sliding doors and the like.
Nowadays, in the field of door and window frames for interiors structures are known for retractable sliding doors comprising substantially a frame which defines a receptacle for a door which can slide inside it.
More precisely, such frame is usually installed inside a wall adjacent to the access to be closed so that the door, when open, is concealed inside the wall.
For single leaf doors, on the side opposite to the wall in which the receptacle is recessed, a false frame is usually installed which is adapted to define an abutment surface for the sliding door.
For double leaf doors, the structure just described is substantially duplicated in order to obtain two receptacles which are mutually opposite with respect to the access to be closed. In this way, by way of two sliding doors, each one of which is accommodated in one of the receptacles, it is possible to close the access by moving them toward each other.
In parallel, in recent years similar structures have been developed which are designed to receive an item holder which is accommodated in a receptacle provided in a wall.
More precisely, it is a sort of drawer supported by telescopic guides that support it at its baseplate.
In this way a retractable item holder is obtained in the wall which can be pulled out as the need arises in order to allow access to the items contained in it.
Such solution is not devoid of drawbacks, among which is the fact that, if such structure with the retractable item holder is installed at an access, it is not possible to close the latter without displaying the item holder.
Another drawback of such conventional retractable item holders consists in that, since the telescopic guides have a support function, they are of such size as to distance the baseplate of the item holder by at least a few centimeters from the surface over which it slides, with consequent unaesthetic impact for the user.
The aim of the present invention consists of providing a structure for retractable sliding doors and the like which makes it possible to accommodate an item holder and to be installed at an access without ruling out the possibility of closing such access while keeping the item holder concealed.
Within this aim an object of the present invention consists of providing a simple structure, which avails of components that are available on the market.
This aim and these and other objects which will become better apparent hereinafter are achieved by a structure for retractable sliding doors and the like, characterized in that it comprises a fixed frame which defines two mutually opposite receptacles which are mutually spaced so as to define a central opening which is interposed between said receptacles, said receptacles accommodating slideably and respectively a door and an item holder, which are designed to be arranged selectively, alternately with each other, at said central opening for the closure of said central opening or for access to said item holder.
Further characteristics and advantages of the present invention will become better apparent from the description of a preferred, but not exclusive, embodiment of a structure for retractable sliding doors and the like, according to the invention, which is illustrated for the purposes of non- limiting example in the accompanying drawings wherein:
Figure 1 is a perspective view of a structure for retractable sliding doors and the like according to the invention;
Figure 2 is a front elevation view of the structure shown in Figure 1 and recessed in a wall; Figure 3 is a plan view from above of the structure shown in Figure 2;
Figure 4 is a front elevation view of the structure shown in Figure 1 ;
Figure 5 is an enlarged- scale detail of the structure shown in Figure 4;
Figure 6 is an enlarged- scale detail of the structure shown in Figure 4. With reference to the figures, the structure for retractable sliding doors and the like, generally designated by the reference numeral 1, comprises a fixed frame 2 which can be recessed in a wall 3 and defines two mutually opposite receptacles 4 and 5 which are mutually spaced so as to define a central opening 6 which is interposed between the receptacles 4 and 5.
The receptacles 4 and 5 accommodate slideably and respectively a retractable door 7 and a retractable item holder 8 which are designed to be arranged selectively, alternately with each other, at the central opening 6 for the closure thereof or for access to the retractable item holder 8 so as to be able to place the items contained in it on view, withdraw them and/or replace them in the retractable item holder 8.
For example, the retractable item holder 8 can be a shoe rack, a bookcase, a shelf structure, a set of drawers or any other furnishing element that is adapted to be slideably hidden in the receptacle 5.
In this way, the retractable item holder 8 is delimited laterally by at least one lateral shoulder 9 which is directed toward the retractable door 7 and defines an abutment surface for the retractable door 7.
In more detail, as shown in Figures 4 to 6, the movement of the retractable door 7 and of the item holder 8 is made possible thanks to a system of guides and sliders which are associated with the fixed frame 2 and also with the retractable door 7 and with the item holder 8.
Such system of guides and sliders comprises two upper guides 10 which are defined by the fixed frame 2 at the upper portions of the receptacles 4 and 5, in which movable sliders 11 slide which are integral with the retractable door 7 and with the retractable item holder 8 at their upper end faces.
In addition such system of guides and sliders comprises two lower guides 12 which are defined by grooves which are provided on the retractable door 7 and on the retractable item holder 8 at their lower end faces, in which fixed fins 13 slide which are integral with the floor where the fixed frame 2 is installed.
In this way, the retractable door 7 and the retractable item holder 8 can slide with respect to the floor while leaving a minimal gap between the lower end faces and the floor.
Operation of the structure 1 for retractable sliding doors and the like is clear and evident from the foregoing description.
In particular, it should be pointed out that it is possible to selectively slide either the retractable door 7 or the retractable item holder 8, arranging them in front of the central opening 6 according to the functional or aesthetic requirements of the user, the shoulder 9 of the retractable item holder 8 acting as an abutment for the retractable door 7.
Moreover, it is also possible to close the central opening 6 partially with the retractable door 7 and partially with the item holder 8.
In practice it has been found that the structure for retractable sliding doors and the like, according to the present invention, fully achieves the intended aim and object in that it makes it possible to accommodate an item holder and also to be installed at an access without ruling out the possibility of closing such access while keeping the item holder concealed.
Another advantage of the structure according to the present invention consists in that it has a pleasing aesthetic impact.
Another advantage of the structure according to the present invention consists in that it is simple to implement since it avails of components that are available on the market.
The structure for retractable sliding doors and the like, thus conceived, is susceptible of numerous modifications and variations, all of which are within the scope of the appended claims.
Moreover, all the details may be substituted by other, technically equivalent elements.
In practice the materials employed, provided they are compatible with the specific use, and the contingent dimensions and shapes, may be any according to requirements and to the state of the art.
The disclosures in Italian Patent Application No. ΜΓ2011Α001951 from which this application claims priority are incorporated herein by reference.
Where technical features mentioned in any claim are followed by reference signs, those reference signs have been included for the sole purpose of increasing the intelligibility of the claims and accordingly, such reference signs do not have any limiting effect on the interpretation of each element identified by way of example by such reference signs.
