Definitions
- the invention relates to rectangular packages of thin cardboard or similar packaging material according to the preamble of claim 1.
- a cigarette pack which is referred to as "semi-rigid".
- a cigarette block that is a group of cigarettes surrounded by an inner blank of paper or tinfoil, sits in an open-top, cup-shaped outer pack of thin cardboard.
- the blank for the outer pack is provided with embossed fold lines for the formation of round edges or bevelled edges. Folding tabs for a bottom wall are defined by means of punched out as separate individual tabs ( EP 0 633 202 A2 ).
- the invention relates to measures for an improved design of such or other packages, in particular with the aim of a high-performance, cost-effective production.
- the package or the outer package according to the invention with the features of the characterizing part of claim 1 is formed.
- Blanks for the outer package of thin cardboard or other foldable packaging material increased dimensional stability can be produced without waste, so without the occurrence of stampings or pieces of waste, preferably by separating from a continuous web.
- the special feature is the formation of transverse walls, ie in particular of the bottom wall and / or end wall.
- a special design of folding flaps is provided, which ensures a machine controllable folding.
- it is ensured, in particular in outer packages with round edges and / or beveled edges by special cutting and punching cuts, that cut pieces in the region of the transition of the transverse wall into the round edge or into the bevelled edge in the folding process reach a hidden, inner position.
- line-shaped punches are provided in the area of the folding tabs of the transverse wall, rounded at round edges and straight edges at bevels, which limit a preferably triangular material gusset, which remains due to residual compounds during folding and then on the blank.
- Another special feature is the formation of the folding tabs for the transverse wall, such that inside, defined by oblique folding lines folding tabs are substantially completely covered by an outer cover flap.
- the outer package may advantageously be cup-shaped, ie with an upper open side.
- the outer pack may be formed as a folding box with a hinged lid defined by the one-piece blank whose end wall is preferably formed according to the design and folding specifications of the bottom wall.
- the package according to Fig. 1 contains a parallelepipedic package contents, namely a cigarette block 10, so a group formed of cigarettes (or other suitable objects), which is completely surrounded by an inner blank 11 of paper, tin foil or foil.
- the cigarette block 10 is disposed in the outer pack 12, which is formed as a cup. The dimensions are selected such that an upper end region or an end face of the cigarette block 10 is visible on the open side of the outer package 12. About the free (front) side extends a band 13th
- the outer package 12 has an increased rigidity or dimensional stability, consists in particular of thin cardboard.
- the strength is preferably below that of the box for hard packs (200g / m 2 to 250g / m 2 ), but above the dimensional stability of the paper for soft cup packs (about 100g / m 2 ).
- An advantage is a cardboard with 140g / m 2 to 150g / m 2 for the outer pack. As a result, more complex folds can be made possible.
- the packing or outer packing 12 forms a front wall 14, an opposite rear wall 15, between these a (narrow) side wall 16 and opposite a side wall 17.
- the latter consists of two edge tabs or connecting strips 18, 19 of a blank ( Fig. 4 ).
- the connecting strips 18, 19 at least partially overlap each other to form the side wall 17 and are joined together by gluing.
- Fig. 13 and Fig. 21 Accordingly, in the preferred embodiment according to the principle of "transverse winding" formed with in the longitudinal direction of a material web adjacent packing walls.
- a transverse wall of the outer package 12, in the present case a bottom wall 20, consists of a plurality of folding flaps.
- these are side tabs 21 and 22, respectively in extension of the (narrow) side walls 16, 17.
- the side tabs 22 are double-layered, consist of an outer part flap 23 in addition to the connecting strip 18 and an inner part flap 24 in the region of Connecting strip 19.
- the side tabs 21, 22 are due to corresponding folding process ( FIG. 7 to FIG. 12 ) directly on the contents of the package - cigarette block 10 on.
- An (inner) longitudinal tab 26 is connected to the rear wall 15 and is folded approximately simultaneously with the side tabs 21, 22 in the plane of the bottom wall 20.
- As an outer layer is an outer flap or cover flap 27, which is connected to the front wall 14 and the outer cover of at least the major part of the bottom wall 20 forms.
- the folding tabs of the transverse wall, in particular the bottom wall 20, are part of a continuous strip of the blank ( Fig. 4 . Fig. 13 . Fig. 21 ), namely an edge strip 28. This extends across the full dimension of the blank across the package walls.
- the edge strip 28 is separated from the remainder of the blank by a fold line 29 (imagined or defined by embossing).
- the width of the edge strip 28 corresponds approximately to the width of the bottom wall 20. In the present case, however, the edge strip 28 is formed with a slightly smaller width than the bottom wall 20.
- the edge strip 28 includes all folding flaps of the bottom wall 20th
- a preferred design feature of the package is the formation of upright packaging edges for delimiting the package walls 14, 15, 16, 17 against each other.
- these packing edges are formed as round edges 30.
- the approximately quarter-circular curve of the packing edges 30 is adapted to the dimension (diameter) of the cigarettes and leads to a packing contour according to Fig. 19, Fig. 20 .
- the round edges 30 can each be defined by a number of stamping lines or grooves 31 of the blank.
- a plurality of parallel, closely spaced grooves 31 cause the round edges 30 to be formed during the folding of the blank.
- the grooves 31 extend approximately over the full length or height of the packing walls 14..17, that is, up to the fold line 29.
- the folding flaps forming the bottom wall 20 are adapted to the packing edges.
- the outer layer of the bottom wall 20, namely the cover flap 27, is delimited within the edge strip 28 by transverse separating cuts 32, 33 over the full width of the edge strip 28 from the adjacent folding flaps, namely side flaps 21 and part flaps 23.
- the separating cuts 32, 33 are aligned with the associated packing edges, with round edges 30 approximately centrally in the area of the rounding.
- the further folding tabs of the bottom wall 20, namely side tabs 21, longitudinal tabs 26 and part tabs 24 remain (in this embodiment) in integral connection with each other.
- the blank is separated from a utility without the formation of free material pieces (waste pieces), in particular from a continuous material web 34 (FIG. Fig. 2, Fig. 3 ).
- a continuous material web 34 For the folding of the bottom wall 20 special measures are taken.
- the separating cuts 32, 33 for the cover flap 27 end adjacent to the fold line 29 or to the round edges 30 in an arcuate section 35, 36. This runs up to (imaginary) folding line 29 (or beyond).
- the adjacent folding flaps, namely side flaps 21 and part flaps 23 have adjacent to the arcuate cuts 35, 36 round punchings 37, 38. These are short punching lines which extend from the folding line 29 adjacent to the curved section 35, 36 or separating section 32, 33, but at a short distance to form a residual connection 39 (FIG. Fig.
- the folding flaps 21, 24, 26 lying in the area of the bottom wall 20 and integrally connected are delimited from one another by converging fold lines 42, 43.
- This oblique, adjacent to the transverse fold line 29 converging fold lines 42, 43 may be defined by material embossing.
- the free formation of folded edges along these fold lines 42, 43 is ensured when folding the bottom wall 20 due to suitable folding organs.
- arcuate sections are mounted, namely round punchings 44, 45 analogous to the round punches 37, 38.
- the punches 37, 38; 44, 45 are relief cuts in the area of the curves of the bottom wall.
- a first folding step the side flaps 21, 22 are folded against the package contents ( Fig. 9, Fig. 10 ).
- this longitudinal tab 26 is folded into the plane of the bottom wall 20, with partial overlap of the side tabs 21, 22 and the connecting tabs 46, 47 ( Fig. 19 ).
- the longitudinal tab 26 has a trapezoidal contour in the end position ( Fig. 12 ).
- the cover flap 27 is folded into the end position, namely under abutment substantially on the longitudinal tab 26.
- the relief cuts or punches 35, 36; 37, 38; 41; 44, 45 important aids, since constraints in the folding in the transition region of the transverse wall to the round edges 30 are avoided.
- the curved sections 35, 36 as a continuation of the separating cuts 32, 33 cause the substantially triangular material gussets 40 to be separated from the (outer) cover flap 27.
- the remaining connection 39 ensures that the material gussets are connected to the adjacent folding tabs 21, 23 as well as to the blank area of the round edges 30.
- the material gussets 40 are brought into the plane of the bottom wall 20 during the first folding step, namely when the side tabs 21, 22 are folded in, and here covered by the (folded) cover tabs 27.
- Fig. 13 is also directed to an outer package 12 with round edges 30.
- the cut is analogous to Fig. 4 educated. Deviating is the design of the inner folding flaps of the bottom wall 20.
- Transverse separating cuts 48, 49 define an inner longitudinal tab 26 which is formed according to the cover flap 27.
- the side tabs 21 and the partial tabs 24 are formed as separate folding tabs.
- Relief or compensation cuts are according to the design principle of Fig. 4 arranged.
- the separating cuts 48, 49 merge into curved sections 50, 51 in the region of the round edges 30.
- the curved cuts 50, 51 follow the contour predetermined by the round edges 30.
- Additional round punches 52, 53 in the region of the side flap 21 and the part flap 24 cause that in the region of the round edges 30 in Fig. 4 shown as a detail construction with the material gusset 40 is formed. Due to the three non-contact punching caused by the curves material gusset 40 is held as part of the blank, but folded during folding in a largely flat position.
- the sequence of folding steps ( FIGS.
- the side flaps 21, 22 are folded, then the inner longitudinal flap 26 and finally the outer cover flap 27.
- the dimensions the folding tabs are selected by appropriate dimensioning of the edge strip 28 so that in the end position ( Fig. 19, Fig. 20 ), the respective cover flap 27 does not cover the full width of the bottom wall 20, but leaves an edge strip 54 free. This is in accordance with the execution Fig. 20 chosen so that the cover flap 27 is located outside the (rear) round edges 30.
- the separating cuts 32, 33 of the cover flap 27 and the separating cuts 48, 49 of the longitudinal flap 26 are arranged at an angle to the free edge of the blank and accordingly converge towards each other. This leads to an exact position of the folding tabs in the region of the bottom wall 20.
- the (inner) connecting strip 19 is provided with a series of glue spots 55, in the present case with six equally spaced glue spots 55. Furthermore, glue spots 55 are provided in the region of the adjacent partial flap 24, namely in continuation of the row of glue spots 55 of the connecting strip 19 . According to Fig. 4 two glue points are positioned towards the edge, in the execution according to Fig. 13 a single central glue point 55.
- the cover flap 27 is provided with a plurality of glue dots 56, provided on the opposite to the glue dots 55 (inside) side of the blank. A row of juxtaposed glue dots 56 is located on the free edge of the cover flap 27.
- Each another glue point 64 is positioned on the cover flap 27 so that after folding thereof the glue dots 64 establish a direct connection between the cover flap 27 and the folded side flaps 21, 22, namely outside the contour of the longitudinal tab 26 (FIG. Fig. 19 ).
- the cover flap 27 is provided with a peripheral row of a plurality of glue dots 56.
- each of the separate folding tabs 21 and 23 is provided at least with a single glue point 65, approximately centrally, adjacent to the fold line 29th
- the blank is first folded so that the connecting strip 19 is exposed and can be provided with the row of glue spots 55. Thereafter - on the hollow mandrel - the folding tab 19 is connected to the folding tab 18. This is followed by the folding of the side flaps 21, 22. Thereafter, the glue point 65 is applied on the free side of the folded side flaps 21, 22 or on the part flap 23 (embodiment according to FIGS Fig. 13 ). Then, the longitudinal tab 26 is folded. In the execution according to Fig. 13 or. Fig. 20 the longitudinal tab 26 is connected via the glue points 65 with the folded side tabs 21, 22. Then the series of glue spots 56 and optionally the glue point 64 is applied to the cover flap 27 and this is connected to the already folded tabs of the bottom wall 20.
- the design of the blanks allows the processing of a continuous web of the (thin) carton.
- the material web according to Fig. 2 is for the production of blanks the Fig. 4 and the web of the Fig. 3 for blanks of the Fig. 13 certainly.
- the embossings for the packaging edges can also be attached by means of corresponding embossing rollers in the area of the packaging machine, optionally in one step with the attachment of the punches.
- the finished blanks are separated by positionally accurate transverse cutting cuts 58 from the material web 34 and fed to a packaging unit.
- FIGS. 21 and 22 shows a cup-shaped outer packing with rectangular in cross-section packing edges, namely square edges 59 so without contoured packing edges and without the relief cuts and / or punches according to the invention.
- the peculiarity lies here in particular in the formation of the bottom wall 20 with folding tabs from a corresponding edge strip 28.
- the edge strip 28 is analogous to the folding tabs Fig. 4 educated.
- Oblique fold lines 62, 63 show the formation of folding tabs in the first folding step, namely folding in the side tabs 21, 22 from opposite sides.
- the folding picture is analogous to the example of Fig.
- the inner longitudinal tab 26 receives a trapezoidal contour.
- the outer longitudinal tab 26 results in a partial coverage of the surface of the bottom wall 20 with lateral and transverse recesses.
- the cut according to Fig. 21 is suitably made of a continuous material web, analogous to Fig. 2 , The gluing corresponds to the design according to the cut Fig. 4 ,
- the packing edges or square edges 59 are preferably provided with embossing lines applied in the area of the material web, but can also be created directly on folding due to the nature of the material and use of corresponding folding organs. Also this blank can be separated from waste pieces of a correspondingly formed, continuous material web and processed in the manner described.
- Packings with beveled packing edges are designed according to the design principle described in connection with round-edge packs.
- Fig. 23 - Formed preferably by separating from a corresponding material web - can be preformed at bevels 66 conventional parallel individual edges 67, 68 in the blank by embossing.
- the blank for this type of pack is analogous to that according to Fig. 4 educated.
- the edge strip 28 for folding flaps of the bottom wall 20 is with respect to the arrangement of fold and punch lines of the example of Fig. 4 derived.
- the cover flap 27 is adapted to the contour (cross-sectional shape) of the package.
- the inner folding tabs 21, 24, 26, 46 and 47 are analogous to Fig. 4 educated.
- the fold lines 42, 43 are in the proposal according to Fig. 23 directed at equal (acute) angles to the fold lines 29. Due to the deviating contour of the packing edge - bevelled edge 66 - a likewise triangular material gusset 73 is formed in this region, which is bounded by oblique punches 74, 75 to form residual connections 39, analogous to Fig. 24 ,
- the oblique punching 75 receives a continuation, namely a punching line 76, along the fold line 42, so that an overall longer, bent punching cut is produced.
- a short punching line 77 is likewise formed, but ends at a distance - with the formation of a residual connection - from the punched lines 75, 76.
- the oblique punching 74 is of limited length and defines a residual connection with respect to the oblique punching 75 and the punching line 76.
- a special feature is the production of this type of packing.
- the individual edges 67, 68 may be marked by deformation of the material, in particular by embossing.
- the blanks are positioned on a hollow shaped body, namely on a folding mandrel 78.
- This packaging technology aid is basically known for the production of soft-pack packages.
- the folding mandrel 78 consists of a thin-walled hollow body which is attached on one side to a carrier, in particular to a folding turret. Both ends of the folding mandrel 78 are open.
- the folding mandrel 78 for the production of packages with beveled edges 66 has corresponding chamfers 79, which correspond in size and arrangement to the bevels 66 to be produced.
- the blank for the outer package 12 is positively against the outside of the folding mandrel 78, whereby the (four) beveled edges 66 are formed, preferably with pre-stamped individual edges 67, 68th
- the inner blank 11 is also formed on the outside of the folding mandrel 78.
- the bottom wall 20 is folded with suitable folding organs in the region of a correspondingly designed folding turret.
- the package contents namely a cigarette group 80, are arranged inside the folding mandrel 78.
- the entirety of the package and content off or from the folding mandrel 78 is deported. Thereafter, the pack is completed in the usual way.
- FIG. 30 to Fig. 32 An important feature of the present pack is in Fig. 30 to Fig. 32 shown.
- the made of thin cardboard, "semi-rigid" outer pack 12 is designed as a hinged lid (modified Hinge lid pack).
- a hinged lid 81 is part of the one-piece blank, which is otherwise formed analogous to the previous embodiments.
- the hinged lid 81 is within the formed on the principle of transverse winding blank ( Fig. 3 ) defined by punch cuts 82, 83.
- punch cuts 82, 83 In the region of the front wall 14, transverse, substantially rectilinear punching cuts 82 are provided.
- the connecting strip 18 at one edge of the blank and the side wall 16 in the central region of the blank are each provided with arcuate, at least upward punching cuts 83.
- the arranged at the opposite edge connecting strip 19 also has arcuate punch cuts 83, which correspond to the punched cuts 83 in the region of the connecting strip 18.
- the punched cuts 83 form separation sections of the material with residual connections 84.
- the arrangement is selected so that at least one residual connection 84 is formed centrally in the region of the front wall 14.
- a residual connection 84 is formed in the region of the side walls 16, 17. Even in the area of the upright, front-side packing edges, residual connections 84 are positioned, which are severed when the lid 81 is opened for the first time.
- the hinged lid 81 is - except for a formed by the connecting strips 18, 19 lid side wall single-layer formed as part of the overall blank.
- the hinged lid 81 is arranged so that a rear line joint along a transverse fold line 85 extends, ie in the region of an edge between an upper end wall 86 of the hinged lid 81 and the rear wall 15 of the pack.
- the punched cuts 83 in the region of the side walls 16, 17 lead up to this fold line 85 and the hinged line of the hinged lid 81 formed by the latter at the back.
- the end wall 86 is expediently formed in the same way as the bottom wall 20. The turn is in detail in connection with FIGS. 21 and 22 described. Furthermore, glue spots 55 and 56 are arranged in an analogous manner. A glue point 55 is located in the region of a partial flap 24 of the end wall 86. Furthermore, a glue point 55 is arranged in the region of a material field 87, which is defined by the punching cuts 83 in the region of Connecting strip 19 is limited and forms an inner layer of the double-layered lid side wall.

Blanks for the outer package of thin cardboard or other foldable packaging material increased dimensional stability can be produced without waste, so without the occurrence of stampings or pieces of waste, preferably by separating from a continuous web. The special feature is the formation of transverse walls, ie in particular of the bottom wall and / or end wall. On the one hand, a special design of folding flaps is provided, which ensures a machine controllable folding. On the other hand, it is ensured, in particular in outer packages with round edges and / or beveled edges by special cutting and punching cuts, that cut pieces in the region of the transition of the transverse wall into the round edge or into the bevelled edge in the folding process reach a hidden, inner position. For this purpose, line-shaped punches are provided in the area of the folding tabs of the transverse wall, rounded at round edges and straight edges at bevels, which limit a preferably triangular material gusset, which remains due to residual compounds during folding and then on the blank.
Another special feature is the formation of the folding tabs for the transverse wall, such that inside, defined by oblique folding lines folding tabs are substantially completely covered by an outer cover flap.
The outer package may advantageously be cup-shaped, ie with an upper open side. Alternatively, the outer pack may be formed as a folding box with a hinged lid defined by the one-piece blank whose end wall is preferably formed according to the design and folding specifications of the bottom wall.

The
The folding flaps forming the
The folding flaps 21, 24, 26 lying in the area of the

In the manufacture of the
Further punching, namely the round punching 37, 38, the

In the present embodiment, the inner blank 11 is also formed on the outside of the
