Definitions
- the present invention relates to an apparatus for launching targets and finds particular application for launching targets of the type of clay pigeons or targets for archery.
- US-A-1,638,283 discloses a target launching apparatus comprising a track on which the target is disposed by its edge. This track is made of material having a high coefficient of friction and an arm, formed of an elongated rod aligned with the track, allows the launch of the target.
- US 1 552 191 discloses an apparatus substantially identical to that described in US 1,638,283. There is currently a need to improve cooperation between the launch pad of the aircraft and the target.
- the present invention overcomes all or part of the disadvantages of techniques known hitherto for launching targets.
- an object of the invention is to provide a target launching apparatus having an improved launching zone with specific contact between the target and a bearing surface, so as to ensure rotation of the target before projection.
- the applicant has found that producing a clean rotation, especially at a high frequency, of the target gives it a better trajectory at the output of the machine.
- the rotation stabilizes the target in its air movement. Less sensitive to the wind, the trajectory of the target is more regular and reproducible from one shot to another, which is particularly advantageous both in training and competition.
- the invention relates to a target launching apparatus having a circular section, the apparatus comprising a bearing surface of a target to be projected and a launching arm capable of applying a force of projection on the target.
- the apparatus is characterized in that the bearing surface comprises friction means for the rotation of the target during its projection by the throwing arm.
- the throwing arm advantageously comprises a target thrust surface constituted by the outer surface of a free-rotating roller.
- the friction means comprise days on at least one zone of the bearing surface
- the days have a slit shape.
- the friction means comprise reliefs on at least one area of the support surface.
- the reliefs comprise a plurality of bumps.
- At least a portion of the bumps have a hole at their top.
- the reliefs comprise an agglomerate of particles embedded in a layer of binder.
- the particles comprise mineral particles.
- the particles comprise particles made of silicon carbide.
- the reliefs comprise at least a rough portion obtained by machining the bearing surface.
- the throwing arm is rotatable and the bearing surface has a concave longitudinal profile located in a plane parallel to the plane of rotation of the throwing arm.
- the longitudinal profile is in an arc.
- the arc is centered on the axis of rotation of the throwing arm.
- It comprises at least one cylindrical target of circular section and whose slice is configured to be applied on the bearing surface.
- the target is plastic.
- the launching arm comprises a thrust surface of the target constituted by the outer surface of a self-rotating free-wheel.
- the launch arm is configured so that the thrust surface is in contact with a portion of the target located at a distance from the support surface of more than one radius of the circular section of the target.
- Figure 1 shows a partially longitudinal sectional view of the launcher in a preferred embodiment.
- Figures 2 and 3 show similar views with loading phases of a target.
- FIGS. 4 and 5 show two side views of the apparatus, a control flap of the bearing surface of the target being in a first position.
- FIGS. 6 and 7 similarly illustrate the apparatus in view of the side of the shutter being in a second position.
- Figures 8 and 9 show corresponding views with a shutter in a third position.
- Figure 10 is a partial perspective view according to another embodiment of an apparatus in which also appears the bearing surface formed here on two different parts.
- the apparatus may comprise a base 7 which may be a welded structure, although it is only an illustrative possibility, and may be equipped with gripping means such as a handle and a wheel 8.
- a launch assembly comprising mainly a throwing arm 1 preferably rotatably mounted about an axis 4.
- the axis 4 is substantially horizontal.
- Conventional actuating means may be used to rotate the launching arm 1.
- the launching arm 1 can cooperate with a spring, stretched by a motor, and can be expanded on command to operate the projection of the target 2.
- the latter although this case is not limiting, is advantageously a target of the tray type of substantially cylindrical flattened made of plastic material and more particularly of polymer foam in one or more layers.
- the preferentially circular shape of the section of the target 2 allows a rolling movement on a bearing surface as described in detail below.
- the target comprises at least a portion having a circular section.
- a barrel 5 is provided above the launch zone to allow the loading and the successive delivery of targets 2.
- the cylinder 5 shown comprises a plurality parallel rods and delimiting substantially cylindrical volumes for receiving targets 2 superimposed.
- the barrel 5 is rotated by means independent or coupled with the driving means of the throwing arm so that, when a throw is desired, the barrel 5 is rotated to cause the delivery of a target 2 in the direction of the launch zone near the arm 1.
- the barrel 5 overcomes an inclined ramp 6 making it possible to delivering an exit target of the barrel 5 to a loading zone 9 at which the target 2 can descend along a chute 10 to a stop 1 1 likely to counter following its descent.
- the launching arm 1 can be actuated so as to project the target 2 thus positioned.
- the launch arm 1 comprises at its distal end a roller 3 of substantially circular section and advantageously pivotally mounted relative to the rest of the launching arm 1 so as to rest on the target while maintaining freedom of movement in own rotation.
- a bearing surface 12 is provided to accompany the projection movement of the target 2.
- the bearing surface 12 is located below the launch arm 1 and is configured to receive a target 2 by its slice.
- the bearing surface 12 has a longitudinal profile (that is to say oriented in the direction of the views of Figures 1 to 9, in a plane transverse to the axis of rotation 4 of the throwing arm).
- the concave longitudinal profile thus has a cradle shape adapted to receive the target 2 and guide it during its projection movement to ensure the regularity of the guide, the bearing surface is advantageously in an arc.
- the arc of the circle in question is preferably centered on the axis of rotation 4. This situation is not given as an example. In particular, if it is desired to vary the rotation effects applied to the target, an offset can be made or adjusted.
- the width of the bearing surface 12 is not limited but is advantageously equal to or slightly greater than the thickness of the portion of the target 2.
- the bearing surface 12 may be formed on one or more pieces which may be of various materials, preferably sufficiently rigid so that the bearing surface 12 does not deform under the effect of the pressure of the target 2.
- a metal plate or rigid plastic members may be used for the bearing surface 12.
- the bearing surface 12 also comprises friction means.
- the apparatus is thus configured so that the coefficient of friction of the surface 12 relative to the target 2 is greater than that of a simple flat metal plate or a smooth plastic surface.
- the friction means advantageously comprise reliefs formed or reported on the bearing surface 12.
- the reliefs may be of different types implemented alternately or in combination. In addition, it is not necessary that the reliefs are present over the entire length of the support surface.
- the bumps can be made by stamping.
- Their basic diameter is, for example, between 8 millimeters and 20 millimeters.
- the bumps 17 may comprise, at their top a hole achievable by cutting a metal sheet.
- reliefs are formed by one or more strips of non-slip material.
- an agglomerate of particles embedded in a binder such as a polymer matrix or another resin
- a binder such as a polymer matrix or another resin
- a rough surface condition can be produced by treating the bearing surface 12.
- it can be sandblasting or other means for degrading, roughening or scratching the bearing surface. 12.
- the apparatus comprises a base piece 13 having a flank 14 oriented substantially perpendicularly to the bearing surface 12 so as to constitute a limiting surface of the deflection of the target 2 resting on the support surface 12.
- the base part 13 constitutes a first portion of the bearing surface 12.
- this first portion is located upstream of a second portion in the direction of rotation of the throwing arm when it is in the projection phase.
- the first portion formed in the base piece 13 constitutes the first support element which receives the target 2 during its projection.
- the support is continued by a second portion formed in another room here constituted for example by a flap 15.
- the illustrated flap 15 comprises a flank portion 16 facing vis-à-vis the sidewall 14 of the base piece 13 so as to constitute a limitation to the movement of the target 2 by the target face 2 opposite the face opposite the sidewall 14.
- the flap 15 comprises the second portion involved in the production of the surface of support 12.
- the flap 15 is capable of mobility here in rotation relative to the fixed base part 13 in the example with respect to the base 7 of the launcher.
- the rotational mobility provides the possibility of an adjustment of the relative position of the flap 15 and the base part 13.
- these two constituent parts of the apparatus are capable of fitting with a variable amplitude so as to modify their overlap surface at the level of the bearing surface 12.
- the bearing surface 12 can be shortened by passing a part of the second portion of the bearing surface 12 in superposition (advantageously from below the first portion of the bearing surface 12) in overlap of the base part 13.
- any means for adjusting the rotation of the shutter 15 is within the scope of the invention.
- the flap 15 is pivotally mounted about an axis advantageously parallel or identical to the axis of rotation 4 of the throwing arm 1.
- means are provided for stopping the rotation of the flap 15 so as to immobilize it when the desired angular position of the flap 15 is reached.
- FIG. 10 illustrates an adjustment variant of the bearing surface 12 with a portion formed as previously on the side of a base piece 13 and a portion formed on a lateral pan 18 fixedly attached to the rest of the machine and supporting, by a section 19 whose angular position is adjustable in an arcuate shape of slide.
- the lateral pan also advantageously forms a flank that can come into contact with a face of the target.
- Figure 4 shows an angular position of the flap 15 in which the latter is substantially folded around the base part 15 so that the first and second portions of the bearing surface overlap widely.
- the active bearing surface 12 for receiving the target 2 is essentially constituted by the first portion located on the base part 13.
- the arc of the bearing surface is thus reduced, the ejection of the target 2 as shown in Figure 5 is carried out in a substantially horizontal direction being specified here that the illustrated embodiment ensures that the downstream end of the first portion of the bearing surface 12 located on the base part 13 is substantially facing the launching arm 1 when it is in the vertical position or so that the tangent to the arc of a circle at this end downstream is substantially horizontal. In this way, the ejection of the target 2 is substantially horizontal.
- FIG. 6 shows another possible position of the flap 15, turned slightly in the clockwise direction so as to increase the size of the bearing surface 12. It is understood that the target 2 bears longer on the bearing surface 12 because the latter is increased by the second portion located on the flap 15. Thus, the output direction is modified as shown in Figure 7.
- FIG. 8 A third example of the relative position of the flap 15 and the base part 13 is shown in FIG. 8 with a flap 15 still raised in a clockwise direction of rotation.
- the arcuate bearing surface forms a sector of the order of 140 to 170 ° along which the target 2 is made to rest. Due to the orientation of the flap 15, the exit direction of the target 2 is much more vertical as shown in FIG. 9.
- the amplitude of variation of the bearing surface 12 is not limited according to the invention.
- the exit direction of the target 2 that is to say the direction of the tangent to the arc of the bearing surface at the end downstream of the -ci
- the vertical is an amplitude of the order of 90 °. It is understood that such an amplitude can cover a large number of shooting opportunities for the exercise of shooters including archers.
- the flap 15 is a part remaining integral with the rest of the device and can be easily adjusted. Thus, the user does not need a long time and complex manipulation to change the orientation.
- FIG. 10 allows the same operation for the section 19 as the flap 15.
- the adjustment control of the flap 15 can be motorized so as to automate the entire control of the apparatus. Nevertheless, both the adjustment of the flap 15 (or of the section 19) as the loading phases of targets and launch can be achieved entirely manually.
- all or part of the surfaces likely to be in contact with the flanks of the target 2 have means for reducing the adhesion and friction of the target 2.
- the surfaces concerned are in particular the moving surfaces of the target 2 from the cylinder 5 or the lateral holding surfaces of the target 2 at the area where it is projected by the throwing arm 1. It will be noted that by reducing the contact between the target 2 and the machine at this point, the forces resisting the thrust of the arm and, possibly, the proper rotation of the target 2 are reduced.
- Means reducing adhesion or friction are achieved by forming discontinuous contact points between the target 2 and the surface of the machine considered.
- an embossed surface in which the summit parts of the cells constitute the points of contact with the target 2 gives satisfaction.
- barbs of rounded shape such as the bumps 17 shown or conical can be used. More generally, all the reliefs formed so as to reduce the contact area with the target 2 is within the scope of the invention.
- Another embodiment consists in perforating the surface in contact with the target 2. Thus, it is possible to form cut-outs or to make the zones where the contact must be limited in the form of wires, in particular of steel which can be mechanically welded and which produce contact lines with the target 2.
- the days formed in the surface in contact with the target 2 are slit-shaped.
- the slots are arranged substantially parallel in the width of the bearing surface 12.
- the slots extend transversely to the displacement of the target 2 on the bearing surface 12. The slots thus increase the friction between the target 2 and the bearing surface 12. It may be rectangular cutouts whose largest side extends along the thickness of the target 2, that is to say the width of the bearing surface 12.
- the arm 1 exerts its thrust on the target by the upper half thereof, that is to say that the contact of the arm 1 (through the roller 3 in the illustrated embodiment) and the slice of the target is carried out at a distance from the support surface 12 greater than the radius of the circular section of the target 2.
- This positioning of the push point on the target 2 promotes the application of the latter on the surface of the target. support, the arm 4 being configured so that its force has a component oriented towards the bearing surface.
- the centrifugal force also contributes to increasing the contact of the target 2 on the bearing surface 12.
- the pressure of the target 2 on the bearing surface increases its adhesion and the rotational effect produced.
