- the hinging device 10 is mounted on the structures 12 and 13 so that the mobile structure 12 is hinged on its left side.
- the device 10 can be mounted on the opposite side, that is, so that the mobile structure 12 is hinged on its right side.
- the device 10 is therefore reversible.
- the device 10 comprises a first hinging group 16, in this case able to be recessed in the upper parts of the mobile structure 12 and the fixed structure 13, and a second hinging group 18, able to be recessed in the lower parts of the structures 12 and 13.
- the first hinging group 16 comprises first hinging means of the male type which comprise, in this case, a first pintle 20, or upper pintle, which has a central hinging axis X.
- the first pintle 20 is attached vertically, downward, on a horizontal fin 21 of a vertical plate 22, which pivots horizontally on a pin 23, inserted in a corresponding through hole of another vertical plate 25.
- the two plates 22 and 25 are substantially parallel to each other and are suitable both to be inserted into the upper part of a vertical groove 26 of the fixed structure 13. In this way, the central pivoting axis X of the first pintle 20 and the plane on which the plates 22, 25 lie are parallel.
- the plate 22 is also provided with second adjustment means, in this case comprising a cam 29, which is rotatable inside a corresponding through hole 30 of the plate 25 and is provided with a front hollow 31, for example with a hexagonal section.

- a clamping screw also not shown in the drawings, is suitable to be inserted with its shaft into a through eyelet 32 of the plate 25 and screwed into a threaded hole of the plate 22, so as to clamp together the two plates 22 and 25 in the desired position.
- the first hinging group 16 also comprises second hinging means of the female type, which comprise a first support element 36, in the form of a block, having a wider head 37, in which, near a lateral edge 44 thereof, a through hole or cavity 38 is made, having an axis Y and suitable to accommodate the first pintle 20.
- second hinging means of the female type comprise a first support element 36, in the form of a block, having a wider head 37, in which, near a lateral edge 44 thereof, a through hole or cavity 38 is made, having an axis Y and suitable to accommodate the first pintle 20.
- the head 37 is shaped so as to have an internal cavity 39 adjacent to the through hole 38 and into which, according to one feature of the present invention, a snap-in closing element or cut-off 40 is inserted.
- the latter is pivoted on a pin 41 disposed in an opposite position with respect to that of the through hole 38 and is constantly thrust by a spring 42 toward a shoulder 43 of the same head 37, that is, in a clockwise direction in figs. 10 and 11 .
- the cut-off 40 is suitable to be driven by the first pintle 20, or manually, and can be rotated by a predetermined angle inside the cavity 39, against the action of the spring 42.
- the arched groove 46 has a development like the arc of a circle with its center in the pin 41, while the cut-off 40 comprises an arched surface 49 having a constant distance from the pin 41, so as to be able to rotate between a closed position of the arched groove 46 and an open position thereof.
- the first support element 36 is suitable to be recessed in a corresponding horizontal channel 47 made in the upper part of the mobile structure 12.
- the first support element 36 has an oblong part that comprises a longitudinal cavity 48 into which a guide 50 with a central body is slidingly inserted.
- the guide 50 is provided with through holes 51, by means of which it is suitable to be attached to the mobile structure 12 with normal attachment screws.
- the first support element 36 slides with respect to the guide 50 by means of two lower shoulders 52 and four upper shoulders 53, and can be driven by first adjustment means, such as for example an adjustment screw 55, to adjust the position of the through hole 38 with respect to the corresponding structure 12 on which the support element 36 is mounted.
- first adjustment means such as for example an adjustment screw 55
- the adjustment screw 55 has its shaft screwed onto a threaded hole 56 of the guide 50 and a cylindrical head 58 guided in a rib 59 of the first support element 36.
- the head 58 of the adjustment screw 55 is provided with a front hollow 60, for example with a hexagonal section, by means of which, through a through hole 61 of the cut-off 40, when the latter is in a closed position, and a corresponding hole 62 made in the head 37, it is possible to rotate the adjustment screw 55 and make the first support element 36 perform longitudinal adjustment movements with respect to the guide 50 and therefore with respect to the mobile structure 12, up to more or less a few millimeters with respect to a nominal central position thereof. In this way, as stated, it is possible to move the axis Y of the through hole 38 with respect to the mobile structure 12.
- the second hinging group 18 may be the same as the first hinging group 16, or it may lack the snap-in closing element or cut-off 40 and/or everything connected with it.
- Figs. 7 to 9 show a variant embodiment of the hinging device 10 according to the present invention, in which the same reference numbers are used for the same parts.
- the first support element 36 is substantially as already described with reference to figs. 1 to 6 , and thus provides that the cut-off 40 is elastically contrasted, and can therefore selectively free access of the first pintle 20 inside the corresponding through hole 38.
- the first pintle 20, having a central hinging axis X is attached vertically, downward, on a horizontal fin 121 of a horizontal plate 122 able to be associated with the fixed structure 13, by means of a second support element 136 which is attached in a suitable horizontal groove 147 of the same fixed structure 13.
- the horizontal fin 121 is formed by a first segment or arm 121 a, from which the first pintle 20 extends downward, and a second segment or arm 121b that extends transversely, in this case orthogonally, from the first segment 121a so as to connect it to the horizontal plate 122, thus making the first pintle 20 solid with the horizontal plate 122.
- the central hinging axis X of the first pintle 20 and the lying plane of the horizontal plate 122 are transverse, in this case orthogonal, with respect to each other.
- the horizontal plate 122 is positioned on the second support element 136, in particular inserted slidingly in a longitudinal cavity 148 of an oblong part of the same second support element 136.
- the horizontal plate 122 is provided with through holes 151, by means of which inserting through it ordinary attachment screws for constraining the underlying second support element 136 to the fixed structure 13.
- the horizontal plate 122 slides linearly with respect to the second support element 136 and is driven by means of second adjustment means, such as for example an adjustment screw 155.
- Lateral holding means 123 for example shaped like a tooth or dovetail shaped, are provided on the second support element 136, on the sides of the longitudinal cavity 148, to hold the horizontal plate 122 in the same longitudinal cavity 148, impeding a lateral, or from above, removal, while permitting the linear sliding thereof.
- the second adjustment means in this case the adjustment screw 155, once the desired position of the horizontal plate 122 is adjusted and determined, defines the stable positioning thereof cooperating with a slit, not shown in the drawings, of the horizontal plate 122.
- the position of the first pintle 20 is adjustable linearly, up to more or less a few millimeters with respect to a nominal reference position thereof, by means of the linear sliding of the horizontal plate 122 in a plane that is transverse, in this case orthogonal, to the hinging axis associated with the first pintle 20.
- the second hinging group 18 can be the same as the first hinging group 16, or can lack the snap-in closing element or cut-off 40 and/or anything connected with it.
- the assembly and adjustments of the hinging device 10 as described heretofore occur as follows.
- the two pairs of plates 22, 25 of the two hinging groups 16, 18 are recessed in the vertical grooves 26 so that the corresponding two pintles, upper and lower, 20 protrude from the fixed structure 13, opposite and lying on the axis X.
- the plates 25 are attached to the fixed structure 13 by means of ordinary attachment screws, not shown in the drawings.
- the two support elements 36 are recessed in the horizontal grooves 47 so that the two through holes 38 are aligned and lying on the axis Y.
- the front surface 45 of the heads 37 are disposed flush with the hinging edge of the mobile structure 12.
- the guides 50 are attached to the mobile structure 12, each by means of attachment screws inserted into the holes 51. Then the longitudinal position of each of the two support elements 36 is adjusted with respect to the guides 50, driving the adjustment screws 55. In this way it is possible to move the position of each through hole 38 and hence to adjust the position of the axis Y with respect to the mobile structure 12.
- This adjustment of the position of each hole 38 may also be advantageously carried out either in this step or in a subsequent step, when the mobile structure 12 is already hinged to the fixed structure 13, and can be repeated every time it is thought necessary, even later on in time.
- the mobile structure 12 is then assembled on the fixed structure 13.
- the mobile structure 12 is positioned on the lower pintle 20, keeping it slightly inclined so as to facilitate insertion, so that the latter is inserted into the corresponding through hole 38 and so that the corresponding axis Y coincides with the axis X.
- the mobile structure 12 is vertically straightened until the upper pintle 20 is inserted into the arched groove 46 of the head 37 of the first support element 36.
- the latter thrusts the cut-off 40 and makes it rotate anti-clockwise as far as its position of maximum opening ( fig. 10 ), against the action of the spring 42, until the upper pintle 20 is positioned in the through hole 38, after having passed through the whole arched groove 46.
- the cut-off 40 automatically returns, in snap-in manner, to its closed position ( fig. 11 ), thrust clockwise by the spring 42, and keeps the upper pintle 20 in the position reached, inside the through hole 38.
- the axis Y of the through hole 38 also coincides with the hinging axis X and the mobile structure 12 is hinged with respect to the fixed structure 13.
- the mobile structure 12 in its position of maximum opening, is rotated by more than 90° with respect to when it is in its closed position, against a packing of the fixed structure 13. Furthermore, in this last position, the device 10 is almost completely inside the structures 12 and 13 and therefore, for the most part, not visible from the outside.
- Removing the mobile structure 12 from the fixed structure 13 is equally easy. Indeed, with the mobile structure 12 in the open position it is enough to make the cut-off 40 rotate anti-clockwise toward its open position, against the action of the spring 42, using a tool like a screwdriver for example, and to make the upper pintle 20 come out of the through hole 38, through the arched groove 46. After this, the mobile structure 12 is also removed from the lower pintle 20.
- the assembly and adjustments of the hinging device 10 as described heretofore are substantially the same as those described above, with the difference that the combination of the horizontal plate 122 and the second support element 136 of the two hinging groups 16, 18 is recessed and attached in the horizontal grooves 147 so that the corresponding two pintles 20 protrude from the fixed structure 13, opposite and lying on the axis X.
- the positions are adjusted of the two pintles 20, acting on the corresponding adjustment screw 155 which causes the horizontal plate 122 to linear slide with respect to the second support element 136.
- This adjustment of the pintles 20 can also be carried out advantageously in a subsequent step, when the mobile structure 12 is already hinged on the fixed structure 13 and can be repeated every time it is deemed necessary, even later on in time.
- the positioning, adjustment and clamping of the first support elements 36 with respect to the mobile structure 12 occurs as already described for figs. 1-6 .
- the hinging device 10 is the recessed type, reversible, and allows to carry out: an easy hinging of the mobile structure 12 with respect to the fixed structure 13; an easy adjustment of the positions of the hinging means of the male type 20 and of the female type 36, even when the mobile structure 12 is hinged to the fixed structure 13; and also an easy dismantling of the mobile structure 12 from the fixed structure 13.

group 16 also comprises second hinging means of the female type, which comprise afirst support element 36, in the form of a block, having awider head 37, in which, near alateral edge 44 thereof, a through hole orcavity 38 is made, having an axis Y and suitable to accommodate thefirst pintle 20. - In particular, the
head 37 is shaped so as to have aninternal cavity 39 adjacent to the throughhole 38 and into which, according to one feature of the present invention, a snap-in closing element or cut-off 40 is inserted. The latter is pivoted on apin 41 disposed in an opposite position with respect to that of the throughhole 38 and is constantly thrust by aspring 42 toward ashoulder 43 of thesame head 37, that is, in a clockwise direction infigs. 10 and 11 . The cut-off 40 is suitable to be driven by thefirst pintle 20, or manually, and can be rotated by a predetermined angle inside thecavity 39, against the action of thespring 42. - This rotation puts the through
hole 38 in communication with afront surface 45 of thehead 37, through anarched groove 46, passing through theinternal cavity 39. Thearched groove 46 has a development like the arc of a circle with its center in thepin 41, while the cut-off 40 comprises anarched surface 49 having a constant distance from thepin 41, so as to be able to rotate between a closed position of thearched groove 46 and an open position thereof. - The
first support element 36 is suitable to be recessed in a correspondinghorizontal channel 47 made in the upper part of themobile structure 12. - The
first support element 36 has an oblong part that comprises alongitudinal cavity 48 into which aguide 50 with a central body is slidingly inserted. Theguide 50 is provided with throughholes 51, by means of which it is suitable to be attached to themobile structure 12 with normal attachment screws. - The
first support element 36 slides with respect to theguide 50 by means of twolower shoulders 52 and fourupper shoulders 53, and can be driven by first adjustment means, such as for example anadjustment screw 55, to adjust the position of the throughhole 38 with respect to thecorresponding structure 12 on which thesupport element 36 is mounted. - In this case, the
adjustment screw 55 has its shaft screwed onto a threadedhole 56 of theguide 50 and acylindrical head 58 guided in arib 59 of thefirst support element 36. Thehead 58 of theadjustment screw 55 is provided with a front hollow 60, for example with a hexagonal section, by means of which, through athrough hole 61 of the cut-off 40, when the latter is in a closed position, and acorresponding hole 62 made in thehead 37, it is possible to rotate theadjustment screw 55 and make thefirst support element 36 perform longitudinal adjustment movements with respect to theguide 50 and therefore with respect to themobile structure 12, up to more or less a few millimeters with respect to a nominal central position thereof. In this way, as stated, it is possible to move the axis Y of the throughhole 38 with respect to themobile structure 12. - The second hinging
group 18 may be the same as the first hinginggroup 16, or it may lack the snap-in closing element or cut-off 40 and/or everything connected with it. -
Figs. 7 to 9 show a variant embodiment of the hingingdevice 10 according to the present invention, in which the same reference numbers are used for the same parts. - In this variant, referring to the
first hinging group 16, thefirst support element 36 is substantially as already described with reference tofigs. 1 to 6 , and thus provides that the cut-off 40 is elastically contrasted, and can therefore selectively free access of thefirst pintle 20 inside the corresponding throughhole 38. - On the other hand, unlike what is shown in
figs. 1 to 6 , in the variant shown infigs. 7 to 9 , thefirst pintle 20, having a central hinging axis X, is attached vertically, downward, on ahorizontal fin 121 of ahorizontal plate 122 able to be associated with the fixedstructure 13, by means of asecond support element 136 which is attached in a suitablehorizontal groove 147 of the same fixedstructure 13. - The
horizontal fin 121 is formed by a first segment orarm 121 a, from which thefirst pintle 20 extends downward, and a second segment or arm 121b that extends transversely, in this case orthogonally, from thefirst segment 121a so as to connect it to thehorizontal plate 122, thus making thefirst pintle 20 solid with thehorizontal plate 122. In this way, the central hinging axis X of thefirst pintle 20 and the lying plane of thehorizontal plate 122 are transverse, in this case orthogonal, with respect to each other. - The
horizontal plate 122 is positioned on thesecond support element 136, in particular inserted slidingly in alongitudinal cavity 148 of an oblong part of the samesecond support element 136. - The
horizontal plate 122 is provided with throughholes 151, by means of which inserting through it ordinary attachment screws for constraining the underlyingsecond support element 136 to the fixedstructure 13. Thehorizontal plate 122, as said before, slides linearly with respect to thesecond support element 136 and is driven by means of second adjustment means, such as for example anadjustment screw 155. - Lateral holding means 123, for example shaped like a tooth or dovetail shaped, are provided on the
second support element 136, on the sides of thelongitudinal cavity 148, to hold thehorizontal plate 122 in the samelongitudinal cavity 148, impeding a lateral, or from above, removal, while permitting the linear sliding thereof. - Moreover, the second adjustment means, in this case the
adjustment screw 155, once the desired position of thehorizontal plate 122 is adjusted and determined, defines the stable positioning thereof cooperating with a slit, not shown in the drawings, of thehorizontal plate 122. - Consequently, the position of the
first pintle 20 is adjustable linearly, up to more or less a few millimeters with respect to a nominal reference position thereof, by means of the linear sliding of thehorizontal plate 122 in a plane that is transverse, in this case orthogonal, to the hinging axis associated with thefirst pintle 20. - In this variant too, the
second hinging group 18 can be the same as thefirst hinging group 16, or can lack the snap-in closing element or cut-off 40 and/or anything connected with it. - With reference to the variant shown in
figs. 1-6 , which does not form part of the invention, the assembly and adjustments of thehinging device 10 as described heretofore occur as follows. The two pairs ofplates groups vertical grooves 26 so that the corresponding two pintles, upper and lower, 20 protrude from the fixedstructure 13, opposite and lying on the axis X. Then theplates 25 are attached to the fixedstructure 13 by means of ordinary attachment screws, not shown in the drawings. - Then, if necessary, the positions of the two
pintles 20 are adjusted, acting on the twocams 29. Then theplates 22 are clamped to theplates 25 by means of two clamping screws, not shown in the drawings, disposed in theeyelets 32 and screwed into the threaded holes 33. This adjustment of thepintles 20 may advantageously be carried out even in a successive step, when themobile structure 12 is already hinged on the fixedstructure 13, and can be repeated every time that it is deemed necessary, even later on in time. - At this point, the two
support elements 36 are recessed in thehorizontal grooves 47 so that the two throughholes 38 are aligned and lying on the axis Y. In particular, thefront surface 45 of theheads 37 are disposed flush with the hinging edge of themobile structure 12. - Then the
guides 50 are attached to themobile structure 12, each by means of attachment screws inserted into theholes 51. Then the longitudinal position of each of the twosupport elements 36 is adjusted with respect to theguides 50, driving the adjustment screws 55. In this way it is possible to move the position of each throughhole 38 and hence to adjust the position of the axis Y with respect to themobile structure 12. - This adjustment of the position of each
hole 38 may also be advantageously carried out either in this step or in a subsequent step, when themobile structure 12 is already hinged to the fixedstructure 13, and can be repeated every time it is thought necessary, even later on in time. - The
mobile structure 12 is then assembled on the fixedstructure 13. - In particular, first the
mobile structure 12 is positioned on thelower pintle 20, keeping it slightly inclined so as to facilitate insertion, so that the latter is inserted into the corresponding throughhole 38 and so that the corresponding axis Y coincides with the axis X. - At this point, with all the weight of the
mobile structure 12 weighing on thelower pintle 20, themobile structure 12 is vertically straightened until theupper pintle 20 is inserted into thearched groove 46 of thehead 37 of thefirst support element 36. With another movement of themobile structure 12 toward theupper pintle 20, the latter thrusts the cut-off 40 and makes it rotate anti-clockwise as far as its position of maximum opening (fig. 10 ), against the action of thespring 42, until theupper pintle 20 is positioned in the throughhole 38, after having passed through the wholearched groove 46. At this point, the cut-off 40 automatically returns, in snap-in manner, to its closed position (fig. 11 ), thrust clockwise by thespring 42, and keeps theupper pintle 20 in the position reached, inside the throughhole 38. - At the end of this simple assembly operation, the axis Y of the through
hole 38 also coincides with the hinging axis X and themobile structure 12 is hinged with respect to the fixedstructure 13. - The
mobile structure 12, in its position of maximum opening, is rotated by more than 90° with respect to when it is in its closed position, against a packing of the fixedstructure 13. Furthermore, in this last position, thedevice 10 is almost completely inside thestructures - As has been pointed out already, the adjustments of the position of each
pintle 20 with respect to the fixedstructure 13 and that of each throughhole 38 with respect to themobile structure 12, can also be carried out after the latter has been hinged. - Removing the
mobile structure 12 from the fixedstructure 13 is equally easy. Indeed, with themobile structure 12 in the open position it is enough to make the cut-off 40 rotate anti-clockwise toward its open position, against the action of thespring 42, using a tool like a screwdriver for example, and to make theupper pintle 20 come out of the throughhole 38, through thearched groove 46. After this, themobile structure 12 is also removed from thelower pintle 20. - With reference to the variant shown in
figs. 7-9 , the assembly and adjustments of thehinging device 10 as described heretofore are substantially the same as those described above, with the difference that the combination of thehorizontal plate 122 and thesecond support element 136 of the two hinginggroups horizontal grooves 147 so that the corresponding twopintles 20 protrude from the fixedstructure 13, opposite and lying on the axis X. - Then, if necessary, the positions are adjusted of the two
pintles 20, acting on the correspondingadjustment screw 155 which causes thehorizontal plate 122 to linear slide with respect to thesecond support element 136. This adjustment of thepintles 20 can also be carried out advantageously in a subsequent step, when themobile structure 12 is already hinged on the fixedstructure 13 and can be repeated every time it is deemed necessary, even later on in time. The positioning, adjustment and clamping of thefirst support elements 36 with respect to themobile structure 12 occurs as already described forfigs. 1-6 . - From the foregoing description it is clear that the hinging
device 10 according to the present invention is the recessed type, reversible, and allows to carry out: an easy hinging of themobile structure 12 with respect to the fixedstructure 13; an easy adjustment of the positions of the hinging means of themale type 20 and of thefemale type 36, even when themobile structure 12 is hinged to the fixedstructure 13; and also an easy dismantling of themobile structure 12 from the fixedstructure 13.
