Definitions
- the invention relates to an adapter for connecting a static mixer with a cartridge for a plurality of components to be mixed, in particular a multi-component cartridge and a combination of a static mixer and a cartridge with an intermediate piece. Furthermore, the invention relates to a method for assembling a static mixer, an intermediate piece and a cartridge.
- a discharge arrangement consisting of a multi-component discharge device or a multi-component cartridge as well as a static mixer is known, for example, from US Pat EP0730913 known.
- the static mixer also comprises a connecting piece intended for assembly with a dispensing cartridge or a dispensing device.
- the static mixer and the connector are in this case designed as a single component, which is usually produced by injection molding.
- a disadvantage of this embodiment is that it has proven to be difficult to produce this component by injection molding.
- the static mixer consists of a plurality of individual mixing elements, so that the mixer has a considerable length, this complicated tools are required.
- the connector which contains the channels for the two components to be mixed in the static mixer, must already be made with a tool that contains cores to make the channels. Due to the component geometry, long and complicated flow paths for the polymer melt result. The polymer melt must in each case the last farthest from the connector
- the component can be cooled, so that solidify the polymer melt which forms the mixer, and the polymer melt which forms the connector.
- the required cooling times for the mixer can differ considerably from the cooling times for the connector.
- the cooling time for the mixer is lower than for the connector. It follows that the mixer must remain unnecessarily long in the tool, namely, until the connector is sufficiently cooled in order to be able to be demolded dimensionally stable.
- the object of the invention is thus to provide an intermediate piece, with which an arbitrarily changedstalteteter static mixer can be placed on an existing outlet geometry of a cartridge. Another object of the invention is to optimize the manufacture of the static mixer and the connector by injection molding. Another object of the invention is to safely avoid contamination of the mix before its proper entry into the mixer and at the same time to prevent errors during assembly.
- an intermediate piece for the connection of a static mixer with a multi-component cartridge comprising a first channel for a first component and a second channel for a second component.
- the first channel passes through the intermediate piece separated from the second channel.
- a first inlet opening is provided, which opens into the first channel.
- a second inlet opening is provided, which opens into the second channel.
- the inlet openings are intended for engagement in corresponding outlet channels of the cartridge.
- a first outlet opening and a second outlet opening are provided, which are intended to receive the static mixer.
- a flange Arranged around the first and second channels is a flange to which a connecting element is provided, which is provided for fastening the intermediate piece to the cartridge.
- the connecting element is arranged according to a preferred embodiment along a lateral surface of the flange.
- the connecting element comprises two side arms, wherein at least one of the side arms has a snap element to form a connection with the cartridge.
- the snap element may be formed as a projection with a support surface.
- the channels may extend at least partially into inlet ports.
- the flange is in particular formed as a plate-shaped element, wherein the flange has a center axis which is substantially parallel to the center axes of the inlet openings, and has a cartridge-side end face, wherein the distance between the cartridge-side end face of the flange to the support surface of the snap element is greater than the length the inlet port is measured parallel to the center axis of the cartridge side end face to the corresponding inlet opening.
- the inlet openings each have a center axis and the outlet openings each have a corresponding center axis, wherein the center axis of at least one of the first or second inlet openings offset from the center axis of the corresponding outlet opening.
- At least one of the channels may be formed at least partially, at least from the mixer-side end face of the flange to the corresponding outlet opening as a tubular neck.
- a first connection element may be provided, which is intended to receive a housing of the static mixer.
- This first connection element comprises a flange piece, which serves as a holding element for the housing of the static mixer, and a second connection element, which is arranged on the opposite side of the first and second channel, wherein the second connection element comprises a flange piece, which serves as a holding element for the housing the static mixer is used.
- connection elements can be provided.
- At least one of the first and second connection elements may have a positioning element for aligning the housing of the static mixer.
- the positioning element can be configured in particular as a groove.
- Such a positioning element has the advantage that the projection during assembly is visible, so that a faulty insertion of the intermediate piece in the static mixer is unlikely. In addition, the projection would hinder the assembly, if the groove receiving it is not in the correct position, so that the mixer housing and thus the mixer can be arranged only in the allowable position relative to the intermediate piece.
- a plurality of permissible positions may be provided if a plurality of positioning elements is present.
- a number of different positioning elements may also be provided to combine the intermediate piece with static mixers of different types.
- the installation direction of the static mixer with respect to the cartridge or the intermediate piece is predetermined, since it is important in particular for reusable cartridges that a channel of the intermediate piece always contains the same component. If this were not the case, the contamination could lead to a premature reaction of the two components to be mixed. In particular, when such components tend to cure, the premature reaction at individual locations may result in degrading the quality of the material or clogging channels.
- the cross-sectional area of the first inlet port may be different from the cross-sectional area of the second inlet port, especially if the mixing ratio of the components is not 1: 1.
- the mixing ratio can be in the range of 1: 1 to 1:25, preferably in the range of 1: 1 to 1:10, so that it is advantageous if the ratio of the cross-sectional areas of the first inlet opening and the second inlet opening is adapted to the mixing ratio , In this case, it is ensured that the components get into the static mixer in the correct mixing ratio.
- the first channel has a first inlet opening and the second channel has a second inlet opening, wherein at least one of the first and the second inlet openings are suitable for receiving a plug-in element of the cartridge.
- the plug-in element can in particular be designed as a tubular connecting piece, which is inserted into the associated inlet opening during the assembly of cartridge and intermediate piece.
- the shape of the outer contour, that is, the shell of the tubular nozzle corresponds to the shape of the cross-sectional area of the inlet opening.
- at least one of the first and second inlet openings may be formed as a plug-in element for receiving in a corresponding recess of the cartridge.
- the plug-in element which is designed in particular as a tubular connecting piece, is inserted into a suitable outlet opening of the cartridge. A slight excess of the plug element with respect to the associated outlet opening may be allowed be.
- the shape of the cross-sectional area of the plug-in element corresponds to the shape of the jacket of the inlet opening delimiting the cross-sectional area of the associated inlet opening.
- An encoding element for aligning the inlet openings with respect to the cartridge may be provided if it must be ensured that always the same inlet opening engages with the same outlet opening of the cartridge.
- the coding element can be located on the cartridge-side end face of the flange and, for example, have a plug-in element which is configured as a key element, which is designed to fit a corresponding lock element on the cartridge.
- the lock element is designed, for example, as a receiving element, that is, it contains in particular a bore into which the plug-in element can be inserted.
- the key element When the inlet openings are positioned in the correct position with respect to the outlet openings of the cartridge, the key element fits into the associated lock element and allows insertion or encompassing of the inlet openings into or around the outlet openings.
- the plug-in element projects beyond the inlet opening, so that upon plugging together, the key element and the lock element can only come into contact with the cartridge between the inlet openings and the outlet openings when the engagement has taken place.
- the connecting element by means of which the inlet opening can be positioned in a suitable position to the cartridge, can comprise a coding means, so that the correct positioning of the intermediate piece on the cartridge can be carried out.
- This coding means can be additionally or alternatively formed to the inlet openings, which in turn can already serve as coding element.
- Such a coding means is particularly expedient if the two inlet openings or all Inlet openings are configured the same at a plurality of inlet openings.
- connecting element as a coding means is that an alignment of the cartridge to the intermediate piece can already take place before the plug element can come into contact with the associated inlet opening.
- the connecting element is longer than the inlet opening. That is, when assembling the adapter and the cartridge first engages the connecting element in a corresponding counter-element on the cartridge before the inlet openings come into contact with the cartridge.
- the connecting element may have a groove or a projection which extends in the axial direction starting from the inlet side.
- a projection which is arranged on the cartridge intervene.
- the projection may in particular be designed as an arm, which engages positively in the associated groove of the connecting element on the inlet side of the intermediate piece.
- the connecting element may have a projection, in particular an arm, which engages in an associated recess on the cartridge.
- the connector may include a first arm and a second arm, the first arm having a different cross-sectional area than the second arm.
- the arms can thus be positioned only in a single position relative to the associated recess of the cartridge, with the result that the intermediate piece can be mounted only in a single position relative to the cartridge. A faulty assembly of adapter and cartridge can thus be excluded.
- At least one arm has a greater length than the other, so that when trying to the intermediate piece in a faulty Assemble position relative to the cartridge, this error is noticed before the component-containing channels of the cartridge come into contact with the inlet opening of the intermediate piece.
- the costs of the combination ie of the system consisting of the static mixer, the intermediate piece and the cartridge, could be reduced even though the number of parts to be produced according to the invention has increased.
- the tools for the production of the intermediate piece, the static mixer and the cartridge can be made much simpler compared to the prior art.
- the adapter is universally applicable and can be easily changed in its construction. Universally applicable means that any static mixers can be combined with any cartridges. It is sufficient to adapt the geometry of the inlet openings of the intermediate piece to the corresponding outlet openings of the cartridge.
- the invention relates to a combination of a cartridge, a static mixer and an intermediate piece according to one of the preceding embodiments.
- each of the individual parts can be optimized for injection molding technology. This means that the tools for each item have simpler design, and that the cooling can be made more uniform, since the wall thickness of the items is much less variable than the wall thickness of a complex one-piece injection molding, as is common in the art.
- a static mixer and an intermediate piece proceeds as follows: in a first step, the intermediate piece is positioned on the cartridge, to which the two inlet openings are connected to the associated outlet openings of the cartridge and the two side arms of the connecting element with a corresponding cartridge flange are engaged by being pushed over the cartridge flange. Snap elements located on the side arms form a latching connection with the cartridge flange, wherein in a third step the intermediate piece is connected to the housing of the static mixer.
- the static mixer includes a number of inlet openings corresponding to the outlet openings of the intermediate piece, wherein the inlet openings are inserted into the corresponding outlet openings of the intermediate piece and then the static mixer is fixed relative to the intermediate piece.
- the static mixer is fixed by inserting the shoulder of a cap of the housing into the flange pieces and rotating the cap relative to the intermediate piece.
- the inventive combination of static mixer, spacer and cartridge can find particular use for mixing a curing mix of flowable components.
- Another possible use of said combination is the mixing of impression compounds in the dental field or the mixture of multicomponent adhesives or the mixture of curing fillers in the construction sector, for example chemical anchors.
- Fig. 1 shows a static mixer 1 with an intermediate piece 4 according to the invention, and a cartridge 3.
- This static mixer 1 for comprises a mixer housing 2, which contains at least one static mixing element, in particular can be constructed of a plurality of mixing elements, so preferably a number of similar Mixing elements forms a group of mixing elements.
- Such mixing elements are for example from the EP749776 B or the EP1426099 B1 known or formed as a helical mixer with a helical structure.
- the mixer has the function of mixing the individual components well, so that a substantially homogeneous mixture is formed.
- the in Fig. 1 shown Mixer can be used in the same way for mixing two or more components.
- the components may be in a mixing ratio to each other, which deviates from a 1: 1 mixing ratio.

However, it has proven to be disadvantageous that after each solution for each mixer / cartridge combination a separate spacer is required. In addition, it is not possible to use such designed for a special mixer / cartridge combination intermediate pieces for existing cartridges that already have existing at the cartridge outlet adapter elements for a particular mixer type.
The object of the invention is thus to provide an intermediate piece, with which an arbitrarily ausgestalteteter static mixer can be placed on an existing outlet geometry of a cartridge. Another object of the invention is to optimize the manufacture of the static mixer and the connector by injection molding. Another object of the invention is to safely avoid contamination of the mix before its proper entry into the mixer and at the same time to prevent errors during assembly.
This object is achieved by means of an intermediate piece for the connection of a static mixer with a multi-component cartridge, comprising a first channel for a first component and a second channel for a second component. The first channel passes through the intermediate piece separated from the second channel. A first inlet opening is provided, which opens into the first channel. A second inlet opening is provided, which opens into the second channel. The inlet openings are intended for engagement in corresponding outlet channels of the cartridge. A first outlet opening and a second outlet opening are provided, which are intended to receive the static mixer. Arranged around the first and second channels is a flange to which a connecting element is provided, which is provided for fastening the intermediate piece to the cartridge.
The connecting element is arranged according to a preferred embodiment along a lateral surface of the flange.
The connecting element comprises two side arms, wherein at least one of the side arms has a snap element to form a connection with the cartridge. Of course, more than two side arms can be provided. The snap element may be formed as a projection with a support surface. The channels may extend at least partially into inlet ports.
The flange is in particular formed as a plate-shaped element, wherein the flange has a center axis which is substantially parallel to the center axes of the inlet openings, and has a cartridge-side end face, wherein the distance between the cartridge-side end face of the flange to the support surface of the snap element is greater than the length the inlet port is measured parallel to the center axis of the cartridge side end face to the corresponding inlet opening.
The inlet openings each have a center axis and the outlet openings each have a corresponding center axis, wherein the center axis of at least one of the first or second inlet openings offset from the center axis of the corresponding outlet opening.
At least one of the channels may be formed at least partially, at least from the mixer-side end face of the flange to the corresponding outlet opening as a tubular neck.
A first connection element may be provided, which is intended to receive a housing of the static mixer. This first connection element comprises a flange piece, which serves as a holding element for the housing of the static mixer, and a second connection element, which is arranged on the opposite side of the first and second channel, wherein the second connection element comprises a flange piece, which serves as a holding element for the housing the static mixer is used.
Of course, more than two connection elements can be provided.
At least one of the first and second connection elements may have a positioning element for aligning the housing of the static mixer. The positioning element can be configured in particular as a groove. Such a positioning element has the advantage that the projection during assembly is visible, so that a faulty insertion of the intermediate piece in the static mixer is unlikely. In addition, the projection would hinder the assembly, if the groove receiving it is not in the correct position, so that the mixer housing and thus the mixer can be arranged only in the allowable position relative to the intermediate piece. Of course, a plurality of permissible positions may be provided if a plurality of positioning elements is present. A number of different positioning elements may also be provided to combine the intermediate piece with static mixers of different types.
The installation direction of the static mixer with respect to the cartridge or the intermediate piece is predetermined, since it is important in particular for reusable cartridges that a channel of the intermediate piece always contains the same component. If this were not the case, the contamination could lead to a premature reaction of the two components to be mixed. In particular, when such components tend to cure, the premature reaction at individual locations may result in degrading the quality of the material or clogging channels.
The cross-sectional area of the first inlet port may be different from the cross-sectional area of the second inlet port, especially if the mixing ratio of the components is not 1: 1. In particular, the mixing ratio can be in the range of 1: 1 to 1:25, preferably in the range of 1: 1 to 1:10, so that it is advantageous if the ratio of the cross-sectional areas of the first inlet opening and the second inlet opening is adapted to the mixing ratio , In this case, it is ensured that the components get into the static mixer in the correct mixing ratio.
From the outlet ports, the components to be mixed enter the part of the mixer housing containing static mixers. The first channel has a first inlet opening and the second channel has a second inlet opening, wherein at least one of the first and the second inlet openings are suitable for receiving a plug-in element of the cartridge. The plug-in element can in particular be designed as a tubular connecting piece, which is inserted into the associated inlet opening during the assembly of cartridge and intermediate piece. The shape of the outer contour, that is, the shell of the tubular nozzle corresponds to the shape of the cross-sectional area of the inlet opening. Alternatively, at least one of the first and second inlet openings may be formed as a plug-in element for receiving in a corresponding recess of the cartridge. In this case, the plug-in element, which is designed in particular as a tubular connecting piece, is inserted into a suitable outlet opening of the cartridge. A slight excess of the plug element with respect to the associated outlet opening may be allowed be. The shape of the cross-sectional area of the plug-in element corresponds to the shape of the jacket of the inlet opening delimiting the cross-sectional area of the associated inlet opening.
An encoding element for aligning the inlet openings with respect to the cartridge may be provided if it must be ensured that always the same inlet opening engages with the same outlet opening of the cartridge.
The coding element can be located on the cartridge-side end face of the flange and, for example, have a plug-in element which is configured as a key element, which is designed to fit a corresponding lock element on the cartridge. The lock element is designed, for example, as a receiving element, that is, it contains in particular a bore into which the plug-in element can be inserted.
When the inlet openings are positioned in the correct position with respect to the outlet openings of the cartridge, the key element fits into the associated lock element and allows insertion or encompassing of the inlet openings into or around the outlet openings. In particular, the plug-in element projects beyond the inlet opening, so that upon plugging together, the key element and the lock element can only come into contact with the cartridge between the inlet openings and the outlet openings when the engagement has taken place.
Alternatively or in addition thereto, the connecting element, by means of which the inlet opening can be positioned in a suitable position to the cartridge, can comprise a coding means, so that the correct positioning of the intermediate piece on the cartridge can be carried out. This coding means can be additionally or alternatively formed to the inlet openings, which in turn can already serve as coding element. Such a coding means is particularly expedient if the two inlet openings or all Inlet openings are configured the same at a plurality of inlet openings.
Another advantage of using the connecting element as a coding means is that an alignment of the cartridge to the intermediate piece can already take place before the plug element can come into contact with the associated inlet opening. In particular, the connecting element is longer than the inlet opening. That is, when assembling the adapter and the cartridge first engages the connecting element in a corresponding counter-element on the cartridge before the inlet openings come into contact with the cartridge.
In particular, the connecting element may have a groove or a projection which extends in the axial direction starting from the inlet side. In such a groove, a projection which is arranged on the cartridge, intervene. The projection may in particular be designed as an arm, which engages positively in the associated groove of the connecting element on the inlet side of the intermediate piece.
On the other hand, the connecting element may have a projection, in particular an arm, which engages in an associated recess on the cartridge.
The connector may include a first arm and a second arm, the first arm having a different cross-sectional area than the second arm. The arms can thus be positioned only in a single position relative to the associated recess of the cartridge, with the result that the intermediate piece can be mounted only in a single position relative to the cartridge. A faulty assembly of adapter and cartridge can thus be excluded.
Advantageously, at least one arm has a greater length than the other, so that when trying to the intermediate piece in a faulty Assemble position relative to the cartridge, this error is noticed before the component-containing channels of the cartridge come into contact with the inlet opening of the intermediate piece.
By using the intermediate piece according to the invention, surprisingly, the costs of the combination, ie of the system consisting of the static mixer, the intermediate piece and the cartridge, could be reduced even though the number of parts to be produced according to the invention has increased. The tools for the production of the intermediate piece, the static mixer and the cartridge can be made much simpler compared to the prior art.
The adapter is universally applicable and can be easily changed in its construction. Universally applicable means that any static mixers can be combined with any cartridges. It is sufficient to adapt the geometry of the inlet openings of the intermediate piece to the corresponding outlet openings of the cartridge.
In particular, the invention relates to a combination of a cartridge, a static mixer and an intermediate piece according to one of the preceding embodiments.
In particular, the combination of static mixer and intermediate piece in a single component, as is common in the prior art, is difficult to control spritzgiesstechnisch. In this case, a tool with cores and sliders must be used to make the intermediate piece, and the pressure and temperature control be designed so that, following the intermediate piece even the entire static mixer in a single injection molding cycle from a single injection point starting completely filled with polymer melt, cooled and demolded. The cooling of such a complex component with different wall thicknesses and cavities is expensive. Surprisingly, it has been found that the departure from the functional integration, ie the concept of an injection molded part of possible few components, can lead to more economical solutions. Not only is the design of the injection molds simpler, but also the parts are simpler and therefore faster to manufacture than a one-piece injection molded part. If in this case the static mixer, the housing for the static mixer and the intermediate piece are produced as individual parts, then each of the individual parts can be optimized for injection molding technology. This means that the tools for each item have simpler design, and that the cooling can be made more uniform, since the wall thickness of the items is much less variable than the wall thickness of a complex one-piece injection molding, as is common in the art.
When assembling a cartridge, a static mixer and an intermediate piece according to the invention proceeds as follows: in a first step, the intermediate piece is positioned on the cartridge, to which the two inlet openings are connected to the associated outlet openings of the cartridge and the two side arms of the connecting element with a corresponding cartridge flange are engaged by being pushed over the cartridge flange. Snap elements located on the side arms form a latching connection with the cartridge flange, wherein in a third step the intermediate piece is connected to the housing of the static mixer. The static mixer includes a number of inlet openings corresponding to the outlet openings of the intermediate piece, wherein the inlet openings are inserted into the corresponding outlet openings of the intermediate piece and then the static mixer is fixed relative to the intermediate piece.
The static mixer is fixed by inserting the shoulder of a cap of the housing into the flange pieces and rotating the cap relative to the intermediate piece.
The inventive combination of static mixer, spacer and cartridge can find particular use for mixing a curing mix of flowable components.
Verankerungen.Another possible use of said combination is the mixing of impression compounds in the dental field or the mixture of multicomponent adhesives or the mixture of curing fillers in the construction sector, for example chemical anchors.
