Definitions
- the invention relates to a method for the production of surfaces by screen printing according to the preamble of claim 1.
- the first method is a common method of protecting the surface.
- the disadvantage is that thus only a low hardness of the surface can be achieved, which does not meet the above requirements. Furthermore, lamination results in an additional operation.
- the second method is a very complicated process and it is the desired hardness of the surface can not be achieved because the transparent plastic films, such as PVC, polypropylene, polystyrene do not have the corresponding physical properties.
- Other disadvantages of this method are low resistance to solvents and abrasives, lack of elasticity of the overall product, more complex production through the use of two-component paints, drying times and application of the double-sided adhesive film, a frequent mutual influence between adhesive film and the printed colors due to residual proportions of solvents, the occurrence of aging phenomena such as yellowing.
- Fig. 1 shows a multilayer structure according to the prior art: A transparent film 1 is provided on its side facing away from the viewer with the printed image (motif) 2, on which a white print 3 is printed. By means of a double-sided adhesive film 4, the printed film is applied to the - not shown - substrate.
- the resistance to damage of a mechanical or chemical nature depends exclusively on the film 1 and is naturally low.
- Vitreous body lacquer is also known under the name "impact protection lacquer" in at least three gradations of particle size, for example under the name MLS 70/00, MLS 70/02 or MLS 70/03 of Coates Screen Inks GmbH in Nuremberg, Federal Republic of Germany. These lacquers have glass bodies in a transparent (or even, but not interesting, colored) matrix which cures like a conventional lacquer.
- the Fig. 2 shows a typical structure according to the invention: directly on the substrate 5, the print 2 (motif) is printed, preferably as a screen printing. Then, by means of screen printing, a layer of vitreous paint 6 and optionally a covering layer are printed on, thus creating an extremely resistant surface 7.
- the scale of Fig. 2 does not allow a detailed consideration of the expansion of the layer 6, this will be explained with reference to the following figures.
- the surface is well protected because the vitreous body paint has a very hard surface.
- the color intensity is reduced, the print image appears dull and dull, but the surface has the desired excellent mechanical resistance, and resistance to solvents and scouring agents rough surface but also slightly dirty.
- Fig. 5 shows, according to the invention preferably after the application of the glass body paint 6 printed another layer 7 with a commercially available transparent lacquer, preferably also by screen printing.
- the wells of the vitreous body paint are filled to the desired extent.
- the roughness of the surface decreases, so that the tendency to fouling, and at the same time increase the color intensity and the transparency and gloss level of the printed image, without the hardness and resistance of the surface decreases significantly.
- results from this combination a hard surface and a color-intensive printed image of silk to high gloss, depending on how much transparent paint applied or to what extent the wells are filled between the glass body or the glass body coated with paint.
- the upper variant with little Abdecklack 7 is still relatively matte, the lower has a brilliance, which does not deviate from conventional print images.
- the mechanical resistance and resistance to solvents and abrasives as well as the color intensity and the roughness or the gloss level of the surface can be controlled by the choice of vitreous paint and the geometry and combination of the screen meshes used in the application of the protective coatings.
- the pressure of the vitreous body lacquer is effected by a tissue. Due to the thread thickness and the mesh size of the printing fabric in relation to the diameter of the glass beads of the vitreous body lacquer both the layer thickness of the glass body lacquer and the roughness of the surface can be changed or controlled.
- Suitable substrates are all substrates which are suitable for screen printing in the prior art, in particular plastic films.
- the surfaces to be protected can, but need not have been produced by screen printing, the glass body paint and preferably also the at least one layer of transparent lacquer to increase the color depth and brilliance are applied by screen printing.
- the vitreous body paint does not have to cover the entire surface of the substrate, but may, as needed, affect either the subject to be protected and / or the areas subject to particular challenges.

Abstract
Description
The invention relates to a method for the production of surfaces by screen printing according to the preamble of claim 1.
- In particular, prints used on technical / industrial products, eg adhesives for beverage cabinets and freezers, have higher surface quality requirements. When used in public places or under difficult environmental conditions, the surface of these products is often scratched and thus no longer meets the quality expectations of the producers and the user, or they become unsightly.
Fig. 1 ).
- 1. The print is additionally laminated on the printed side with a transparent film.
- 2. The printed image is applied to the back of a transparent film, then the print image is overprinted white, on the white print a double-adhesive film is applied (see
Fig. 1 ).
The first method is a common method of protecting the surface. The disadvantage is that thus only a low hardness of the surface can be achieved, which does not meet the above requirements. Furthermore, lamination results in an additional operation.
Also in the second method is a very complicated process and it is the desired hardness of the surface can not be achieved because the transparent plastic films, such as PVC, polypropylene, polystyrene do not have the corresponding physical properties. Other disadvantages of this method are low resistance to solvents and abrasives, lack of elasticity of the overall product, more complex production through the use of two-component paints, drying times and application of the double-sided adhesive film, a frequent mutual influence between adhesive film and the printed colors due to residual proportions of solvents, the occurrence of aging phenomena such as yellowing.
Thus, there is a need for a process which provides the desired hard, abrasion-resistant, solvent-resistant and abrasion-resistant surface in the simplest possible way, using the best possible materials, in conjunction with an attractive appearance, without any restrictions on the printing substrate, etc.
These objects are achieved according to the invention in accordance with the characterizing part of claim 1 by applying a special combination of one to three, optionally also more layers of protective lacquer (s) on the substrate / substrate. It is thus achieved a mechanically robust surface for printed products, without affecting the color intensity of the printed image. As substrate, any material is suitable which can be screen printed.

The mechanical resistance and resistance to solvents and abrasives as well as the color intensity and the roughness or the gloss level of the surface can be controlled by the choice of vitreous paint and the geometry and combination of the screen meshes used in the application of the protective coatings. The pressure of the vitreous body lacquer is effected by a tissue. Due to the thread thickness and the mesh size of the printing fabric in relation to the diameter of the glass beads of the vitreous body lacquer both the layer thickness of the glass body lacquer and the roughness of the surface can be changed or controlled.
Further advantages over the previous methods are the ease of manufacture in a production process on a multi-color screen printing machine and the ability to use any substrate or any substrates can. It is irrelevant whether the motif to be protected was produced by screen, offset or digital printing. Aging phenomena can be reduced to a negligible level by selecting the appropriate substrates / substrates (backing film) and, of course, the colors.
Mention should also be made that it is necessary in the overlapping gluing of such printed films to print on the glass body printing at least a layer of a commercially available (of course transparent) paint, otherwise the overlap can not be permanently bonded, as the adhesive on the glass body paint not sufficiently liable. Such an overlapping gluing is necessary for larger formats.
Suitable substrates are all substrates which are suitable for screen printing in the prior art, in particular plastic films. The surfaces to be protected can, but need not have been produced by screen printing, the glass body paint and preferably also the at least one layer of transparent lacquer to increase the color depth and brilliance are applied by screen printing. In the knowledge of the invention, the use of known in the art he prior art as a protective lacquer for the purposes of the invention for those skilled in the screen printing technology without any problems.
The vitreous body paint does not have to cover the entire surface of the substrate, but may, as needed, affect either the subject to be protected and / or the areas subject to particular challenges.
