Description

The present invention relates to a technological innovation applied to the front and rear grilles of fans and household appliances.

The innovation features separate fins and bands on both anterior and posterior grilles. The fins have specially designed or modified profiles to promote the passage of the air sucked in by the fan and the flow generated.

Several fan grid devices are known in the state of the art.

Protection against the risk of contact with the moving propeller is typically provided by anterior and posterior grilles which completely surround the propeller. However, these grids do not prevent the free rotation of the propeller necessary for the main function of the fan, which is to ensure the movement of the air.

The grilles will always constitute an obstacle to the passage of air. The tighter their mesh, the better the protection but less air circulation. For this reason, the grilles which can be manufactured in the most diverse materials, metallic or not, have some disadvantages such as, for example, a reduction in the air flow as well as parasitic noises caused by the interaction between the moving air and grid elements.

A disadvantage of the state of the art of the prior grids concerns their profile in the central region. We know that when a fan is on, the air flow becomes weaker and weaker the closer you get to the center of the front grille. For this reason the central region of the front fan grilles is usually closed. According to the typical geometry of the manufacturing process, these grids have, usually on their central region, the configuration indicated in figure 3 , that is, a concave or hollow shape with respect to the direction of flow of air in motion. This configuration takes the form of a barrier which causes most of the air directed towards it to circulate without passing through it and the small quantity of air which exceeds this barrier is subjected to turbulence. The flow rate is therefore lower because part of the flow does not escape from inside the fan.

Another drawback of the state of the art concerns the front profiles of the front fins of the fan grilles. In the state of the art, the cross section of the front fins of the grilles is usually rectangular, with a rounded inner edge or in the shape of an aircraft wing cross section, with the leading edge (most domed side) on the inner side of the grille through which the air impelled by the propeller arrives. These cross sections are shown in figure 7 and are also described in the patent EP0709576 . On the prior grids, in accordance with the state of the art, with fins of cross section in the form of an airplane wing, the air must circulate through the grid, which causes a pressure drop ( figure 9 ). This effect is more severe on the part where the fins are closest.

D'autres grilles de ventilateurs sont connues des documents US2003/049132A1 , US2100994A , US2950859 et US6071079A .Another drawback of the state of the art is linked to the profiles of the rear fins of the rear grilles of the fans, where the cross section of these fins is more often rectangular. There are also rectangular sections with a rounded outer edge or in the shape of an airplane wing, with a leading edge (the most curved side) facing the outside of the grille, through which the air drawn in by the the propeller. This hinders the passage of the air sucked in by the rear grille by creating turbulence near the grille. The document US 3,995,970 presents this configuration. Other fan grilles are known from documents US2003 / 049132A1 , US2100994A , US2950859 and US6071079A .

The object of the present invention is to solve the drawbacks of the state of the art by reducing the noise of the fan when the propeller is rotating; said invention discloses some improvements related to the fan grille. One of the improvements relates to a front fan grille provided with a central region the surface of which is convex, which facilitates the passage of the moving air.

To this end, the invention relates to anterior and posterior fan grilles according to claim 1 complementing each other to guarantee protection against the risk of contact with a moving propeller, the anterior grid comprising a center and a first strip of fins which extend from the center to a first ring, characterized in that the center comprises an internal surface of convex shape comprising ribs which extend to the internal surface of the center of the anterior grid in the extension of a few fins of the first strip of the anterior grid.

Such ribs aligned as if they were an extension of a few fins of the grille allow the air to be correctly directed out of the central region of the anterior grille and reduce the pressure drop generated in this region. . This configuration also decreases turbulence in this region which results in reduced noise.

The present invention introduces an innovation on the anterior and posterior grilles by ensuring a sufficiently fine mesh and an adequate mechanical resistance to guarantee protection against the risk of contact of the moving propeller with the fingers, which makes the passage obstruction. fairly dense air while allowing high flow of moving air with low noise level. The object of this invention represents a means of solving this apparent paradox which depends on the association of several details described below. In order to facilitate this description, we can divide the previous grid into regions (see figures 1 and 2 ).

The present invention comprises a front grid 1, with a center 2, a first strip of fins 3 which extend from the center 2 to a ring 6, a second strip of fins 5 which extend from the ring 6 to a second ring 8, a third strip of fins 7 which extend from the second ring 8 to a third ring 15 and a fourth strip fins 9 which extend from the third ring 15 towards an outer frame 10.

The fins 3, 5, 7, 9 indicated in figure 1 are separated by the rings 6, 8, 15, the function of which is to increase the resistance of the front grid 1 to finger penetration, making it difficult to bend the fins 3, 5, 7, 9, in accordance with the relative standards to household appliances.

As demonstrated in figure 3 , which represents a fan according to the current state of the art, the central region 200 of the anterior grille has a concave configuration with respect to the passage of air such that it represents a barrier to the flow of air which cross member, retaining much of the air from the center of the front grille, since the small part of the air passing through it is subject to turbulence and high pressure drop.

Ces nervures 11 orientent correctement l'air vers l'extérieur du centre 2 de la grille antérieure 1.On the front grille 1, in accordance with the present invention, the air which leaves through the region close to the center 2 of the front grille 1 meets on said barrier a convex surface which facilitates its passage. This surface of the center 2 is furthermore equipped with ribs 11 which extend to the inner surface of the center 2 as if it were the extension of some fins 3 of the first strip of the anterior grid 1 (see figures 4 and 5 , perspective image of the detail, seen from inside the front grille 1). These ribs 11 correctly direct the air out of the center 2 of the front grille 1.

Donc, un anneau périphérique 110, représentant environ un tiers du diamètre du centre 2, est équipé de nervures 11.The height of these ribs 11 is approximately 3 mm and their length depends on the configuration of the engine. The general idea, however, is to direct the peripheral flow from the central region towards the fins 3 of the first strip. Therefore, a peripheral ring 110, representing about a third of the diameter of the center 2, is equipped with ribs 11.

As shown in figure 5 , the ribs 11 follow the convex shape of the center 2 and however, advantageously have a general curvature following a front view of the grid (see figure 4 ). The radius R of this curvature is approximately 140 mm so that the ribs 11 “escape” from the center 2, their end being more or less tangent to the circular flow of air. Experimentally, according to the configuration set out here, we find that eleven ribs 11 (one rib every five fins 3) improve performance.

The air coming out of the front grille of a fan spins like a "corkscrew" and opens in the shape of a truncated cone. These two combined effects are illustrated on figure 6 . Thanks to this characteristic, the air pushed by the propeller goes obliquely against the fins of the front grille.

According to the state of the art, the cross section of the front fins 12 of the fan grilles is usually either rectangular A, or rectangular with the rounded inner edge B or with a cross section in the form of an airplane wing C of which the edge d The attack D (most curved side) is directed towards the interior of the grid from which the flow of air F comes from the propeller. These cross sections are visible at the figure 7 .

Another aspect of the present invention is that the front fins 3, 5 of the front grille 1 have the shape of an aircraft wing cross section, however inverted, i.e. with a trailing edge. E (thinnest side), directed towards the inside of the front grille 1 from which comes the flow of air F pushed by the propeller (see figure 8 ).

The figure 9 is a diagram showing the flow of air F and the pressure drop generated between the front fins 12 of the prior grilles, in accordance with the state of the art. Passing through the grid, the air must flow, causing a pressure drop. This effect is more severe on the strip of fins 12 which are closest to the center of the grid.

According to the present invention, see figure 10 , in the region closest to the center 2 of the front grille 1, the fins 3 of the first strip move away from each other as they move away from the center 2 of the front grille 1. This configuration favors the passage of air between the fins 3 of the first strip with a minimum of expansion or compression. This is possible because the air enters through the thinnest side of the fins 3 and moves away from the center 2 of the front grille 1, passing between them in the direction where they are thicker and where the fins 3 of the first strip are the furthest from each other.

As you can see at the figure 8 , the cross section of the inverted airplane wing of the fins 3 of the first strip has a length e 1 of approximately 10 mm, and a rounded trailing edge E with a radius S 1 of nearly 0.4 mm. One of the edges of the fin 3 is flat and the other is curved, with a radius S 2 of approximately 30 mm. The rear part of the fin 3 has a thickness e 2 of approximately 2.2 mm.

The figure 11 is a partial sectional view of the profile of the front fins according to the present invention. In order to reconcile the mechanical resistance of the front grid 1 and a minimum of material, the fins 3 of the first strip fit into the center 2 and have a width less than that of the fitting on the first ring 6. Between the first ring 6 and the second ring 8, the spacing between the fins 5 of the second strip is a little greater and practically constant, thus creating less difficulty in the passage of air. For this reason, in this region, the cross section is constant.

According to some configurations of the fan, it may be preferable that the fins 5 of the second strip have the same cross section as the fins 3 of the first strip in order to reduce noise. Another aspect of the present invention (see figure 12 ), is that between the center 2 and the second ring 8 of the anterior grid 1, the typical curve of the fins of the first strip of fins 3 and of the second strip of fins 5, taken in continuity, corresponds to the inverted silhouette of the trailing edge 13 of the propeller 14.

In fact, surprisingly, it has been found that the reverse curvature of the trailing edge 13 of the propeller 14 is experimentally one of the best curvatures of the air outlet vanes 3, 5 of the fan.

The interlocking of the reverse curvature of the trailing edge 13 of the propeller 14 and the fins 3, 5 must be considered with a margin of tolerance. The expression "the curvature of the fins 3" means "almost 80% of the length of the propellers" in a front view, in accordance with figure 12 .

La tolérance de la courbure des ailettes correspondantes 3, 5 est, par conséquent, d'environ T1,T2 ± 5%.In addition, the curvature of the trailing edge 13 of the helix 14 can be modeled by two radii T 1 and T 2 . The tolerance of the curvature of the corresponding fins 3, 5 is, therefore, about T 1 , T 2 ± 5%.

The fins 9 of the fourth strip, embedded between the third ring 15 and the outer frame 10 which serves to join the front grille 1 and the rear grille 16, constitute a set of air intake fins 9, perpendicular to the frame 10.

Between the second ring 8 and the third ring 15, the fins 7 of the third band have an inverted curvature with respect to the fins 3, 5 of the first and second bands closer to the center 2.

In fact, the fins 7 of the third band and the air intake fins 9 are fins where the air circulates from the outside to the inside of the grille 1 (see figure 13 ), thanks to the position of the propeller 14. However, as the air speed is reduced in this region, there was no measurable difference which could have justified the inversion of the cross section of the fins. 7, 9 so that the thinnest edge faces the outside of the grid 1. Taking into account the aesthetic values, it was decided not to invert the fins 7, 9. In this region, also , given the greater spacing between the fins 7, 9 as a consequence of the proximity of the outer diameter of the grille 1 and the curve of the fins 7, 9, double fins 7, 9 were placed in order to make it impossible to '' introduction of the fingers through the grid (see figure 1 ).

In the region where the air intake fins 9 fit together, the frame 10 has a chamfered surface 18 to facilitate the entry of air (see figure 13 ).

As observed previously, the anterior 1 and posterior 16 grids complement each other to guarantee protection against the risk of contact with the propeller 14 in motion. The characteristic which differentiates the two grilles 16, 1 is that the rear grille 16 has at its center a construction intended to fix it to the fan motor, so that, supported on the fan motor, it supports the front grille 1 which is attached to the frame 10.

La présente invention apporte quelques innovations concernant la grille postérieure 16 (voir figure 14).The present invention provides some innovations concerning the rear grid 16 (see figure 14 ).

This rear grid has a center 30 from which the fins 19 are mounted radially. As for the grid 1, various fins are thus arranged from the center 30 to a frame 24 of the periphery, these are the fins 19, 20, 21, 22 and 23. Different rings 28 separate the fins 19, 20, 21, 22, 23 in different bands to reinforce the rear grille and avoid the possibility of inserting the fingers into the fan by bending a few fins.

The rear grille 16, when mounted on the front grille 1, superimposes the curves of its strips of fins 19, 20, 21, 22 on the corresponding curves of the first and second strips of fins 3, 5 of the anterior grille 1. That is, the typical curve defined by the front view of the fins 19, 20, 21, 22 of the rear grille 16 also corresponds to the silhouette of the trailing edge 13 of the inverted propeller 14.

In the region where the strips of fins 19, 20, 21, 22 follow a curve which corresponds to the trailing edge 13 of the inverted helix 14, for structural reasons there are three rings 28 instead of a single ring 6 on the front grille 1.

According to the configuration of the present invention (see figure 15b ), the cross section of the fins 19, 20, 21, 22 of the rear grille 16 has a refined edge 190 facing outwards from the grille 16, from which the air drawn by the propeller 14 comes from, and a round 192 pronounced on the inner side, in order to favor the passage of the air sucked by the propeller 14 which, by exceeding the fins 19 of the rear grille 16, is projected in the direction of movement of the leading edge of the helix 14. The radius U 1 of the inner edge 192 is about 1.5 mm. The edge of the fin 19, on which the inner edge is located, is almost flat, while the other edge has a flat part and a curved part, projecting to the thinnest edge 190. The radius U 2 of this curved part is about 7 mm. The maximum thickness of the fin 19, between the flat parts, is approximately 2.2 mm. The fins 20, 21, 22, 23 have the same section transverse than that of fins 19. A typical state-of-the-art fin H, with rectangular cross-section, is illustrated on figure 15a .

Suivant l'exemple de la grille antérieure 1, la grille postérieure 16 possède également, dans la région du cadre 24 où les ailettes 23 de la bande externe s'encastrent, une surface chanfreinée 25 afin de faciliter l'entrée de l'air (voir figure 16).Following the example of the front grille 1, the rear grille 16 also has, in the region of the frame 24 where the fins 23 of the outer strip fit, a chamfered surface 25 in order to facilitate the entry of air ( see figure 16 ).
