Abstract

A safety system for industrial operations is described, comprising at least one safety device (1) placed on an object (3) subjected to an industrial operation; and at least one wireless control (2) for such industrial operations, in which the wireless control (2) is adapted to be actuated only if it is at a small distance from the safety device (1), such distance being such as to guarantee safety operating conditions for an operator managing the wireless control (2).

Description

SAFETY SYSTEM FOR INDUSTRIAL OPERATIONS
The present invention refers to a safety system for industrial operations, in particular for operating refurbishments for industrial vehicles.
Pressures coming from the market for introducing wireless control systems for driving technical operations for industrial vehicles (for example trucks, hydraulic footboards, cranes, tractors, etc.) bring about the need of presenting new solutions for reducing the risk of accidents for an operator, compelling him, during some potentially dangerous handlings, to be accurately located with respect to a machine.
Object of the present invention is solving the above mentioned problems, and provides for a safety system that has been originally devised for the field of industrial vehicles, where often there is the need of driving mechanical/hydraulic systems aimed for lifting and handling goods or objects even with high sizes and weight: such activity is often risky for an operator if he does not put
—I— himself under safety conditions with respect to the vehicles, even more taking into account the freedom of movement that a wireless control system brings about .
The above and other objects and advantages of the present invention are obtained with a safety system as claimed in claim 1. Preferred embodiments and non-trivial variations of the present invention are the subject matter of the dependent claims.
The present invention will be better shown in the following detailed description, provided as a non-limiting example, with reference to the enclosed drawings, in which:
Figure 1 is a perspective view of a preferred embodiment of the system of the present invention;
- Figure 2 is a schematic perspective view of a use of the system of the invention; and
- Figure 3 is a schematic block diagram of the main components of the system of the present invention.
From what has been stated above, it is clear that purpose of the present invention is "compelling" the operator to stay in one (or more) "safe" areas when performing some potentially dangerous operations: such limitation is obtained by preventing the transmission of commands by the wireless control 2 if this latter one is not immediately nearby (preferably from 0 to 100 centimeters) a mark or safety device (on the machine near which one has to operate there can be more than one of them) designated as "safe spot" 1 applied in a well defined (and safe for the operator) position on the vehicle 3.
Such innovation can simply occur by means of a mark 1 with adequate magnetic characteristics associated with a reed-type contact 7 inside the wireless control 2, such as to inhibit the transmission of one or more functions if the two components 1, 2 are not approached or nearby (from 0 to 100 centimeters) , namely send an information about "mark present" and let the receiver deside whether an operation can be actuated or not.
An alternative solution for obtaining the desired functionality can be using a Radio Frequency ID (RFID) device of the tag or label type (not shown) to be integrated in the mark 1 and recognised by the wireless control 2; still more, such functionality can also be obtained by means of an electric connection between mark 1 and wireless control 2.
Reference 4 designates the block diagram of a possible embodiment of the wireless control 2: the microcontroller 5, that manages the operation of the transmitter 8, before transmitting the pressure status of keys 6, checks the status of the reed contact 7, possibly inhibiting such transmission, namely the actuation of an handling.
The present invention thereby allows adopting wireless controls as replacement of (or in addition to) the traditional electro-mechanical pushbutton panels or the hydraulic linkages, realising a complete safety for an operator.
Summarising, the operations to which the present invention applies are operations adapted to be employed to refurbishments for industrial vehicles, to agricultural machines, to handling means in general, in addition to all those fixed or moving application where it is necessary to protect an operator from dangerous situations for his health.
