Description
The subject of the present invention is a multi-contact connector, in particular a connector comprising at least one optical channel and / or at least one electrical channel.
Such a "hybrid connector" connector is commonly called. Such hybrid connectors are used for example to connect base stations with transmitter modules RRU / RRH (Remote Radio Unit / Remote Radio Head) for the market for wireless communications. The advantage of this type of connector lies in the fact that they make it possible to pass information between the base and the module (s) thanks to the optical connections and to ensure the power supply of these same modules through connections electric copper. The absence of interference between the optical signal and the electrical signal makes it possible to gather these two functions within the same connector. The use of a single cable instead of two usually used is possible, which represents a significant gain in space.
These connectors, however, have a large number of parts and their relatively high cost of implementation is a brake for this type of market.
There is therefore a need to further improve this type of connector including to benefit from connectors that are simple design and assembly with a reduced number of elementary components, lightened by weight and providing a lightning protection required for a type of application in external environment.
