Description

Derartige Eisenbahnwaggons sind für sogenannte Autoreisezüge im Einsatz. Derzeit sind für den Transport von Personenkraftwagen und in sehr eingeschränkter Form für Kleinbusse und Kleintransporter auf der Schiene meist Doppelstockwägen mit zwei Ladeebenen in offener oder teilverkleideter Form in Verwendung. Für Sondereinsätze z.B. in Verbindung mit Tunnelschleusen werden auch einstöckige Transportwägen eingesetzt. Alle diese Eisenbahnwaggons werden der Länge nach befahren und müssen auch der Länge nach von den Fahrern begangen und zu Fuß verlassen werden. Wenn mehrere Eisenbahnwaggons zu einem Zug zusammengesetzt sind, bedeutet dies einen längeren und auch gefährlichen Fußweg des Fahrers, der insbesondere für ältere Fahrer oder behinderte Fahrer unangenehm ist. Ein weiterer Nachteil der herkömmlichen doppelstöckigen Transportwägen liegt darin, dass Fahrzeuge mit einer größeren Höhe wie z.B. Kleintransporter oder sogenannte Mini-Vans nicht in das vorgesehene Profil passen. Ein weiterer Nachteil der offenen Waggonkonstruktionen ist die Verschmutzung der Fahrzeuge im Fahrbetrieb und Gefährdung durch Steinschlag und Funkenflug von den Oberleitungen.Such railway cars are used for so-called car trains. Zwischen Fahrertür und Fahrzeugkarosserie bleibt somit nur ein sehr enger Spalt, durch den der Fahrer sein KFZ verlassen muss. Hat er dies geschafft, bleibt nur ein enger Gehbereich zwischen den abgestellten Kraftfahrzeugen und der Waggonseitenwand oder der Absturzsicherung.
