Definitions
- the invention relates to a mobile telephone with monitoring of security features, comprising means for measuring at least one functionally relevant variable, data processing centers for comparing the value of the at least one functionally relevant variable with at least one limit value, means for generating a warning signal and display means for optical, acoustic or haptic output of the warning signal if the value of a functionally relevant variable exceeds or falls below the limit value.
- both the battery level and the reception strength ie the quality of the connection to the respective mobile network
- both the battery level and the reception strength are usually measured and often displayed graphically on the display.
- This warning is usually accompanied by an audible signal, such as a special ringtone, and a corresponding indication on the display.
- the receiving strength is too low, a warning may be issued that a connection to the mobile network is not possible.
- a disadvantage of the available devices is that often a warning about the battery level is only issued when it is no longer sufficient to conduct a conversation. It is therefore quite common that even during a short conversation, a previously low battery level drops so far that the connection is interrupted. Furthermore, the user can usually go unnoticed in an area with insufficient reception strength, unless the display is continuously monitored, so that then in case of need, a connection to the mobile network is not possible. Such functional failures are usually only annoying for the user. However, they become critical when an emergency call is required, for example, especially when the device is used by elderly people or people who are dependent on medical care, and they need to request help if necessary. However, it is precisely these groups of persons that often have continuous or at least regular observation of the display in order to ascertain any values of reception strength and battery state that may become critical, or not to be expected or even impossible.
- a mobile telephone according to the invention may be a mobile telephone for connection to a mobile radio network, but also a mobile telephone for local use at a base station installed approximately in a household, for example a DECT telephone or the like.
- the object is achieved in that the mobile phone described above comprises means for setting the at least one threshold. It is thus possible to adapt the limit value or the limit values, for example for the battery charge state or the reception strength, to individual circumstances.
- the Battery Level Limit can be set to issue a warning to charge the battery when the battery is empty Battery level is still sufficient in any case, to make a call and / or make an emergency call.
- Individual circumstances, to which a limit value could be adapted arise in the case of a mobile telephone, for example, in persons who are often located in areas with poor network coverage, eg, living in such an area. If the connection to the mobile network is weak, a higher transmission power must be applied, which in turn puts more strain on the battery and empties it more quickly.
- the display means for outputting the warning signal may preferably comprise a voice output.
- the user can be informed quickly, safely and immediately about the too low value of the respective function-relevant size. This is particularly advantageous for blind or visually impaired persons who receive a clear statement in this way.
- the battery levels of the mobile phone and / or the reception strength come into consideration as functionally relevant variables to be monitored. These are the two essential quantities required to establish a connection to the mobile network or to a base station.
- the reception strength in the mobile network is meant, ie the connection to the or the next mobile radio base stations, in the case of a mobile telephone with local base station the corresponding value when connected to its base station.
- the mobile phone also via data processing means for analyzing the time course of the reception strength and for comparing the course with at least one predetermined, stored history, as well as means for generating a further warning signal when the time course with a predetermined Course, the display means are arranged to output the further warning signal.
- the time profile of the reception strength eg when the user is moving, can be monitored. If, for example, the reception strength decreases more or less continuously over a certain time interval, it is to be feared that the connection will break off as the movement progresses, so that a warning can be output.
- a warning may be issued if the value of the reception strength drops below a certain threshold several times over a certain period of time to alert the user that he is in an area of insecure reception.
- the mobile telephone has facilities for measuring at least two function-relevant variables and data processing means for their joint analysis and / or for analysis of their time course, thus enabling a linked analysis of two or more variables.
- battery level and reception strength can be monitored in dependence on each other.
- a higher transmission power is required to establish and maintain a connection, so that the battery is more heavily loaded and loses its capacity faster.
- a warning is issued than at high reception strength.
- the value of the reception strength at which a warning is triggered can be changed.
- the described embodiments of a mobile phone according to the invention make it possible in any case to warn the user early if there is a risk that a connection could no longer be possible.
- the user can take appropriate action, such as recharge the battery or try to go to an area with higher reception strength.
- the mobile phone may continue to include an appointment scheduler for taking medication. An embodiment of a mobile phone with such a scheduler and the associated possibilities and advantages will be described in detail below.
- the latter has data transmission means for exchanging data with a control center.
- these data transmission means can be set up to receive the at least one limit value from the control center. This results in the possibility of a remote maintenance of the mobile phone.
- This form of training is particularly advantageous when the user of the mobile phone is, for example, under medical supervision and the phone is also set up as an emergency telephone to connect to a center that can provide medical assistance in an emergency. Especially elderly or infirm people are often unable to make the appropriate settings themselves. These can now be made by the named center.
- the data transmission means of the mobile phone can be set up to transmit the warning signal to the control center.
- the center can be informed immediately about a threat of loss of connection to a monitored person, so that the center now in turn record a voice connection with the user of the phone or possibly even can send immediate help.
- the mobile telephone has a device for position detection and the data transmission means are set up for transmitting the position data to the control center.
- a position detection can be made possible for example by the integration of a conventional GPS receiver or in the future, a Galileo receiver in the mobile phone.
- a monitoring system for a mobile telephone comprising a mobile telephone with data transmission means for exchanging data with a control center and a control center, comprising means for data transmission for exchanging data with the mobile telephone.
- the means for data transmission comprised by the center can be set up in particular for transmitting the at least one limit value to the mobile telephone. This enables remote maintenance for the individual setting of the limit value (s) for a suitably equipped mobile phone.
- the means included in the center for data transmission to receive warning signals from the mobile phone can be set up and the central storage means for storing the time course of the occurrence of warning signals, data processing means for analyzing this time course and comparing the history with at least one predetermined, stored history , and means for generating a further warning signal when the time course coincides with a predetermined course include.
- the center is enabled to initiate an appropriate response when the user of the cellular phone is in an area of uncertain reception, and thus the reception strength falls several times below a certain value in a predetermined time interval, and thus multiple alarms from the cellular phone to be generated.
- the user is automatically informed of an impending loss of the connection.
- the monitoring system according to the invention can be set up such that the mobile telephone has means for data transmission for the wireless reception or exchange of data with other devices, in particular devices for measuring body functions or body conditions or devices for room monitoring.
- the display means for outputting the further warning signal may comprise means for voice output, in accordance with what was previously carried out to output the warning signal.
- a mobile telephone contains electronic circuits with which the battery level and the reception strength in the mobile radio network, i. ultimately the field strength of the signals from the next mobile station, or the signals from a local base station, are measured in a known manner.
- the measured values are also each fed to a data processor which compares the measured values with stored limit values.
- This data processing may take the form of a hardware circuit, such as a known comparator circuit, or in the form of a program running in a processor.
- the limit values with which the measured values are compared are stored in the usual way in a memory circuit or on a conventional storage medium in the mobile phone.
- limit values are not fixed, but can be changed, ie, they are not "hardwired", but the corresponding memory in the mobile phone is also writable.
- a program module can be provided, with the help of the user in an interactive process using the keyboard of the mobile phone can set the limits.
- the mobile device is part of a monitoring system, where it is in data communication with a central office, from which the limits can be transmitted to the device.
- the control center itself has a user interface with which the limit values can be set by the personnel there.
- control center or also the mobile telephone have a program module which can automatically set the limit values on the basis of predetermined criteria.
- This automatic setting can be, for example occur due to the fact that the limit value for the reception strength is set dependent on the current battery charge state.
- it can be determined with certainty if there is a risk of being unable to continue a conversation under the current operating conditions if further deterioration occurs.
- an alarm signal is generated by a downstream circuit, which leads to a corresponding output to the user.
- This output can take place, for example, by displaying on the display with a corresponding warning message, for example, in the manner "please recharge battery” or "loss of power threatens", possibly supported by an audible signal.
- a corresponding voice output is conceivable.
- the warning signal can also be transmitted by data transmission, for example by SMS or GPRS, to a central station in order to generate a corresponding output there to the respective personnel.
- a central station for example, staff can then contact the user or send service personnel to the latter, if, for example, due to health restrictions, he / she is unable to take the appropriate measures himself.
- a data processing for the measured value of the reception strength can be set up in such a way that it causes a warning signal even if the actual absolute limit value has not fallen below, given a continuous decrease in the reception strength in a specific time interval over a predetermined percentage or absolute value. This can prevent the danger that the user goes too fast in an area with poor network coverage and has no reception there.
- the control center to which the respective warning signals are also sent, in turn could track their time course and generate a further warning if, within a certain time interval, a warning occurs repeatedly because of insufficient reception strength.
- the further warning signal can then indicate that the user is basically in an area of insecure network coverage, so that in turn a corresponding warning can be sent from the center to the mobile telephone and can be displayed there in accordance with that described above.
- a mobile phone according to the invention optionally in conjunction with a corresponding monitoring system, an increased security is connected, which is particularly important if a mobile phone for elderly, frail or other reasons medically monitored Persons is used.
- these are particularly dependent on being able to always record a mobile radio connection in order to be able to make an emergency call and / or request help, but they may not be able to independently control the operating status of the device on the basis of the usual displays with high reliability monitor.
- a mobile phone according to the invention can thus also help to improve the mobility of such persons since they are less likely to be in a situation where help that may be needed can not be achieved.
- an electronic scheduler for taking medication is integrated in the mobile phone.
- Monitoring drug use is particularly important for people who are forced to take regular medication, such as elderly or chronically ill people. Some medications may require ingestion at specified times, so the practitioner is forced to take great care. Especially older people, who may be forgetful or even mentally confused, can be overwhelmed with this.
- nursing staff For persons living in their own households, it is generally not possible to provide constant care by nursing staff for reasons of cost, and possibly no other persons in the household who could take on this task. It is also not a solution to refer people to the nursing home where they can be monitored continuously, who may or may not be over-medicated. This is not feasible for reasons of cost in today's health care system and also very much contradicts the claim of man to a life as far as possible self-determined.
- medication dosing boxes which usually have several compartments labeled with the respective day of the week and the time of day, in which medicaments can be inserted in the required dosage.
- the filling of the medicine box can be done by the nursing staff or by relatives done, the intake can then be left to the patient.
- this must monitor the time of taking itself; An external check on whether the medication was taken is usually made at a much later date, namely when the respective caregiver is present again. A control of the time of administration is not possible.
- a mobile telephone may now include an electronic medication scheduler comprising a list of appointments, each appointment being associated with at least one medication to be taken, and comprising means for optically and / or acoustically and / or haptically displaying a due appointment.
- a list of appointments for taking medicines can be stored in this organizer, for example by a doctor or nursing staff or other medical or supervising personnel, whereby the patient is then given a signal at the time points entered that the receipt is due.
- the medicaments to be taken can be stored in a known manner in a medication box as described above, so that easy access to the right medicines in the correct dose is made possible. It is also conceivable to connect a medicament box directly to the mobile phone with an integrated organizer in a housing or to couple it in some other way.
- the respective intake times are now ensured by giving the patient a corresponding signal, e.g. a flashing light, an alarm sound, a vibration, or combinations thereof.
- a corresponding signal e.g. a flashing light, an alarm sound, a vibration, or combinations thereof.
- the patient can carry the mobile phone containing the organizer permanently, possibly also out of the home, and is therefore not restricted in its mobility, while at the same time the memory of the medication intake is ensured.
- At least one drug to be taken may be associated with a dosage. Among other things, this can be used to control the correct amount of prepared or prepared medication, for example if the person making the appointment list is not the same person who fills the medicine box. Furthermore, each appointment can be assigned an identification number, for example for the device-internal management of the stored appointment list.
- an audible indication of a due date may include a voice output.
- the patient can be alerted in a simple manner to the reason for the alerting, that is to say about the content of the underlying appointment, and, if appropriate, further information can be transmitted.
- the indication of a due date may include the respective at least one drug to be taken and / or its dosage.
- this can in turn enable the patient to control whether he is taking the right medicines, but also be useful, for example, when taking liquid medicines that can not be prepared in a medicine box, so that the patient can measure the required dose himself Has.
- This announcement can, as already mentioned, take place via voice output, but of course also in the form of a text display on the display.
- the medicament to be taken and / or its dosage can also be represented graphically, that is to say for example by symbols. It can be displayed for example in a simple way color, shape and number of pills to be taken.
- the mobile telephone comprising the organizer according to the invention comprises a device for acknowledging the medication intake associated with an appointment.
- a device for acknowledging the medication intake associated with an appointment This may, for example, be a special, highlighted switch or button on the mobile phone, with which the patient can confirm when he / she has taken the medications that belong to an appointment.
- the appointment can now be stored internally with an acknowledgment note. It may then be controlled by medical personnel, if necessary, the receipt of the receipt; the associated advantages are particularly evident in the forms of training described below Connection to a monitoring system.
- the acknowledgment can also be used for documentation in the sense of medical quality assurance.
- the integrated in the mobile phone organizer may include means for repeating the display of an appointment, if within a predetermined time no acknowledgment of the appointment has taken place. This alerts the patient again and alerts them to taking medication if they may have missed the first signal or for some reason were prevented from taking the associated medication.
- the mobile telephone contains at least one device for data transmission for use by the organizer.
- This may be, for example, a computer interface or a device for connection to a base station belonging to the mobile telephone, which then in turn has facilities for communication to the outside.
- it may also be, for example, a current infrared or Bluetooth interface.
- a wireless communication interface for communication with a conventional mobile network is available anyway. This allows the organizer to use communication on the existing infrastructure of the mobile network.
- the device for data transmission is set up to receive the list of appointments.
- the scheduling does not necessarily have to be done manually on the organizer, but can be created elsewhere, for example by the attending physician or other medical personnel and then loaded by data transfer in the organizer.
- the described possibility of wireless data transmission, in particular via a mobile radio network has an advantageous effect.
- the device for data transmission can be set up to automatically transmit an acknowledgment signal to a monitoring entity after acknowledgment of the medication intake associated with an appointment.
- the monitoring entity may, for example, be a corresponding data processing installation in a medical service center or a care facility. It can be identical to the control panel described above for monitoring the functionally relevant variables, or also represent a further device. If the receipt of the medication is transferred there, a monitoring and documentation of the drug intake by remote care is possible.
- the device for data transmission can be set up to automatically transmit an alarm signal to a monitoring instance if no acknowledgment of the medication intake takes place within a predetermined period of time after the display of an appointment or after a predetermined number of repetitions of the display of an appointment.
- a facility looking after the patient can be informed and alerted if a medication intake is missed.
- the caregiver may then contact the patient and investigate the cause, in particular, whether he is in a condition in which he urgently needs help.
- the device for data transmission can furthermore be set up to transmit and / or receive control and / or correction data of the scheduler.
- These control and / or correction data may be time and / or date.
- the connection to the mobile network and / or the battery level can be monitored anyway in a mobile phone according to the invention.
- the correct function of the scheduler can also be determined by a monitoring agency.
- the correct time setting is of course important for compliance with the collection dates.
- the organizer may then be able to receive correction data so that, for example, an incorrect time or date setting can be corrected.
- the device for data transmission can be set up, data from at least one further device, for. B. one Body function sensor, a body condition sensor or other monitoring device to receive or exchange data.
- the body function sensors may be sensors for monitoring various body parameters, such as heart rate monitors, blood pressure meters.
- the body condition sensor could, for. B. be a balance. This can serve for monitoring the vital functions or also for recording the physiological parameters which are of interest or which are to be monitored by the respective person.
- the device for data transmission can be set up to receive data from the at least one body function or condition sensor in each case before and after a date for taking the medication. It is thus possible to document the effects of a medication intake in order to be able to adjust the medication and / or the dose if necessary.
- the organizer preferably contains a memory device for storing received data from the at least one body function sensor.
- Other monitoring devices can, for. As smoke detectors or other room monitoring devices that can be used to determine dangerous conditions or the whereabouts of the patient.
- the means for receiving data may include an infrared or Bluetooth interface or means for communication via radio waves, z. B. in the ultrasonic wave range. The latter are advantageous because of low energy consumption on the receiver side.
- the device for data transmission can be set up to forward the data from the at least one body function sensor to a monitoring entity.
- This monitoring entity can in turn be placed in a service center, so that archiving and evaluation of body function data is possible there.
- the mobile phone may include other data processing means, such as the functions customary in a PDA. This may include an electronic address and / or notebook, possibly a navigation system and other functions It is advantageous that so only a single device for communication and appointment monitoring and, where appropriate, to monitor the body functions must be carried and a personal contact between the patient and a service center is also possible.
- the mobile phone is preferably to be designed so that it allows a simple, fail-safe operation. For this purpose, for example, a large display with large text display, large, handy keys, an ergonomically designed user guide with clear feedback on user interactions and possible incorrect inputs and other design features that are known to the ergonomically trained expert, are provided.
- the mobile telephone may also be embedded in a system for scheduling and monitoring of medication revenue, comprising a mobile telephone according to the invention with an integrated scheduler with a device for data transmission and a monitoring entity which is set up to communicate with the scheduler via the device for data transmission.
- the monitoring entity can be a data processing device in a service center, in a hospital, in a general practitioner or at a comparable location.
- the monitoring entity may be set up to send the list of appointments to the organizer. This makes it possible to prepare the appointment list externally and then transfer it via the data transmission device in the organizer.
- the monitoring entity may be set up to receive data and / or signals sent by the organizer. This can be about the already mentioned acknowledgment signals of the drug intake, control data regarding time / date or charge level of a battery, or even data from other body function sensors mentioned.
- the monitoring entity for this purpose comprises a memory device for storing received Dates. This enables archiving and, where appropriate, subsequent further processing or analysis of the received data.
- the monitoring entity can be set up to compare data received from the organizer with setpoints stored and / or determined in the monitoring entity and, if necessary, to send a correction and / or alarm signal to the organizer and / or output an alarm to the monitoring entity.
- a correction and / or alarm signal to the organizer and / or output an alarm to the monitoring entity.
- the evaluation of received body function data that can be matched with the allowable values, where appropriate, a warning can be issued to the patient, such as the way that efforts are to be avoided, or even an alarm in the service center can be triggered In turn, contact with the patient can be contacted or help can be sent.
- the monitoring entity may be arranged to match received acknowledgment signals with the list of appointments and to trigger an alert if an acknowledgment signal is not received within a predetermined time at an appointment.
- a monitoring of the drug intake can be ensured, which allows a timely initiation of action as soon as a drug intake is missed.
- contact with the patient may then first be made to determine the reason for the failure, and / or, if deemed necessary, a caregiver or a physician may be sent to the patient.
- This system consists of a data processing device, such as a conventional PC, in a medical service center having facilities for data transmission, such as an interface to the Internet and / or a landline or mobile telephone connection.
- the system consists of one or several terminals that are located in supervised patients.
- a mobile phone is used according to the invention, which is adapted to the needs of the patient and in which the organizer is integrated. It may, for example, be a mobile phone available under the name of the BUTLER®, which has been specially developed as an easy-to-use, emergency-ready telephone for seniors.
- the terminal preferably has a specially designated acknowledgment button on which the patient can acknowledge this after taking the medication.
- the acknowledgment can be stored in the terminal as well as sent to the service center, for example as automatically generated SMS. If no acknowledgment has taken place within a certain time, eg five minutes, the terminal repeats the alarm and the display of the appointment. After several, eg two, unsuccessful repetitions, which therefore do not result in an acknowledgment, an alarm signal is sent to the service center, again, for example, as automatically generated SMS.
- an alarm signal then leads to an alarm of the staff, for example by an optical and / or acoustic Display, so that the staff can contact the patient, for example via the cellular connection, or can send a force to the patient.
- the terminal can couple with sensors for monitoring body functions of the patient. These can transmit their measured values, for example, wirelessly, for example via an infrared or Bluetooth connection, to the terminal and stored there or forwarded directly from the terminal to the service center for local archiving and evaluation, again for example as SMS or as GPRS data.
- the received measured values can be automatically evaluated by the data processing device in the service center, and if measured values are not within a permissible interval, an alarm can be triggered. In this way, the patient's vital signs can be automatically monitored.
- Particularly interesting here is the ability to record values before and after drug administration; Thus, the effect of a particular drug can be determined and, if appropriate, the medication and / or dosage to be adjusted.
- the mobile phone according to the invention with integrated organizer or the system according to the invention, it is thus possible in addition to the communication options to plan and monitor the medication intake of a person and to ensure as far as possible.
- the monitoring of the body functions of a person is thus made possible.
- a variety of security mechanisms are provided, which can detect errors and failures as quickly as possible and thus lead to a high reliability. It can provide comprehensive monitoring and drug delivery to patients domestic environment - but not only there - while maintaining maximum self-determination and mobility of the person being monitored.
