Abstract

The present invention relates to a method of weight, volume and capacity improvement of vehicles, including combined high-pressure washer and gully emptying vehicles provided with a tank (1) for flushing liquid and sludge collection, including where these materials are separated by a piston (10) and that the vehicle is provided with at least one hose reel (18) for pressure- or suction hoses. The invention includes optimization of a vehicle's tank capacity as a function of the total height of the vehicle, by use of a canted or curved slit (4A) for controlling an opening-type rear cover (2) to the tank. Furthermore, the invention includes optimization of the piston weight through use of linear actuators such as hydraulic cylinders (12) for controlling the piston movement, and optimized suspension of tanks (1) with use of clamps (14) fastened on aluminum bases (13) The invention also includes weight, volume and strength optimized hose reels (18), where the reeling drums (24, 25) are suspended in a single load- carrying bearing (22) and where the reeler is rotated by use of a gear rim (23) with internal toothing (21 ), which is driven by the gear wheel (20) on a built-in motor (19). The invention makes it possible to manufacture combined high-pressure washer and gully emptying vehicles with external measurements, which match and fit standard cargo containers for inexpensive overseas transportation, and the tank capacity of the vehicles can be improved with more than 35% in relation to the total weight of the vehicle.

Description

Method for optimizing of a vehicle for sewer cleaning and a vehicle for sewer cleaning
The invention relates to a method for weight, volume and capacity optimization of vehicles including combined high-pressure washer and gully emptier vehicles provided with a tank with a rear cover, which can be opened, for materials such as flushing liquid and sludge, and where these materials are separated by a piston and where the vehicle is provided with at least one hose reel for pressure- or suction hoses.
The invention moreover relates to vehicles provided with tank and hose reel including combined high-pressure washer and gully emptier vehicles provided with a tank with a rear cover, which can be opened, for materials such as flushing liquid and sludge, including where these materials are separated by a piston and where the vehicle is provided with at least one hose reel for pressure or suction hoses.
Combined high-pressure washer and gully emptier vehicles are used to a high extent for emptying e.g. septic tanks and cleaning sewage systems.
These specialized vehicles have, through time, been developed towards having a, as high as possible, total capacity, so that the vehicle can collect increasingly more sludge. Hereby, it is achieved, that the time, which the driver must use for transportation to the sludge emptying depots can be reduced to a minimum.
It has been found, however, that there are drawbacks connected to the known combined high-pressure washer and gully emptier vehicles.
One of these problems is, that the present combined high-pressure washer and gully emptier vehicles have become so voluminous and heavy that they often cannot be used in cities with narrow and crooked streets and byways. It is likewise a problem that the vehicles are typically so large that they cannot be transported via standard containers. This means that it is highly costly to transport the vehicles overseas, which in practice makes it highly difficult to export the vehicles at competitive prices.
It is therefore a purpose of the invention to improve the known method of constructing combined high-pressure washers and gully emptier vehicles with intent to optimize the capacity in relation to the total volume and the total weight of the vehicle.
The object of the invention is achieved by a method of the type stated in the introductory portion of claim 1 , which is characterized in that the vehicle is provided with one or more hose reels where the reeling drums are suspended in a load-carrying bearing and provided with an internal toothing, which is powered by a gear wheel mounted on an motor.
Hereby, the advantage is achieved that greater powers can be transferred with a lower total weight of components, than it is possible with the hitherto used hose reels.
As stated in claim 2, it is furthermore a special feature of the invention that the tank is provided with a piston to separate sludge and flushing liquid, where the piston is powered by at least one linear actuator such as a hydraulic cylinder.
With this construction, the mass of the piston and thereby its weight can be reduced to a minimum, compared to pistons, which are powered by compressed air, which is the known piston operation method in combined high-pressure washer and gully emptier vehicles. Further preferred embodiments of the method of the invention are defined in claims 3 to 4.
As mentioned the invention also involves vehicles.
These vehicles are characterized in that the rear cover of the tank, via a hinge shaft is suspended in an angled or curved slit and/or that the tank is provided with a piston for separation between sludge and flushing liquid, where the piston is powered by at least one linear actuator such as a hydraulic cylinder, and/or that the tank is mounted to a console with one or more retainer clamps, and/or that the vehicle is provided with one or more hose reels, where the reeling drums are suspended in a single load- carrying bearing and provided with an internal toothing, which is powered by a gear wheel mounted on an motor.
Hereby, it thus becomes possible to obtain an optimum relation between the capacity and the total volume and/or the total weight of combined high- pressure washer and gully emptier vehicles.
This also means that the vehicles at the same time can have a large capacity and can be placed in standard containers, which makes inexpensive and efficient overseas transport, and thereby export, possible.
The invention will now be explained more fully with reference to the drawings, in which:

In fig. 1 is with 1 shown a known type of tank to a combined high-pressure washer and gully-emptying vehicle. The tank is provided with a rear cover
2, which can be opened in relation to the tank 1. The rear cover 2 is via a hinge shaft 3 suspended in a vertical standing slit 4.
When the rear cover 2 is to be opened, it is initially lifted to the top of the vertical slit 4 by the hinge shaft 3, whereafter it can be opened.
The rear cover is typically moved by a set of parallel functioning linear actuators, including, typically, hydraulic cylinders.
The in fig. 1 shown known type of suspension of rear covers 2 results in a difference in height between the top of the tank 1 and the top of the rear cover 2, which is indicated by 5.
In fig. 2 is shown a suspension of a rear cover 2 to a tank 1 , according to the invention, by the hinge shaft 3 being placed in a canted or curved slit 4A.
Tests have shows, that canting or curving of the slit 4A has the surprising effect that the rear cover 2 can be opened with a significantly reduced waste of height, 5A, which is the distance between the tank 1 and the top of the rear cover 2.
Fig. 3 shows the same item as in fig. 2, but has got a sectional view area 6.
In fig. 4 is the sectional view area 6 from fig. 3 shown in a clarified scale.
It is thus clearly seen that the slit 4A is canted in relation to a vertical axis in an angle shown by 7.
The slit 4A can be canted, as shown in fig. 4, or curved so that the hinge shaft upon activation in relation to the vertical plane, is moved towards the rear cover 2. As shown in fig. 5, the canted slit 4A will by activation of the hinge shaft 3 result in that there is established a clearance or distance 8 between the tank 1 and the rear cover 2.
This, again results in, as shown in fig. 6, that the rear cover 2 can subsequently be turned in relation to the tank 1 , since the point 9 just avoids a collision between the rear cover 2 and tank 1.
The thereby reduced waste of height, which is the difference between 5 and 5A, can directly be used for optimization of capacity in a given construction, manufactured e.g. with the purpose of the fitting of a vehicle's exterior measurements to insertion and placing in a transport container.
For a given tank construction, the same outer measures will thus be able to improve the capacity, in the tank volume, with a factor, which is proportional with the squared value of the difference between 5 and 5A, in relation to the volume calculation formula for a cylindrical tank.
Fig. 7 shows a simplified sketch of a piston 10, according to the invention, for separation of flushing liquid and sludge in a combined high-pressure washer and gully emptying vehicle.
The pistons in the hitherto known combined high-pressure washer and gully emptying vehicles' tanks are controlled by compressed air, which sets high demands to the strength of the piston, which in practice means, that the hitherto used pistons are robustly manufactured and thereby heavy.
The new type of piston 10 is driven by a hydraulic cylinder 12, whereby the motion of the piston can be made significantly calmer, steadier and more controllable, whereby the piston 1 can be manufactured simpler, cheaper and with less material, which again results in a significantly reduction of weight.
The piston 10 is provided with sealings 11 , and can besides the shown configuration with a centrally placed hydraulic cylinder for motion control, have two or more parallel working hydraulic cylinders or alternatively be driven by other linear driving means, such as electrical linear actuators.
In fig. 8 is shown a tank suspension, according to the invention, where the tank 1 is mounted to a base 13 with one or more retainer clamps 14, which are fastened at the fastening devices 15. The base 13 can via fastening devices 17 be fastened to the chassis of a combined high-pressure washer or gully emptying vehicle.
The hitherto known mountings of tanks on combined high-pressure washer and gully emptying vehicles uses steel bases welded to the tanks, where the new principle makes it possible to manufacture the base from e.g. light metal, including aluminum, whereby the total weight of tank and suspension is significantly reduced.
Fig. 9 shows an example of a hose reel 18 for a combined high-pressure washer and gully emptying vehicle manufactured in relation to the invention. The hose reels are used for both the high-pressure washing hoses and for the gully emptying hoses. In this connection, there is often specific demands to the hose reels, which are used for the high-pressure washing hoses, since these, when used, are subjected to a pull of up to several hundred kilo, which is created via the hoses' high pressure washing nozzles.
The hitherto known hose reels for use in combined high-pressure washer and gully emptying vehicles are primarily based on constructions, where the hose reel is turned between two load-carrying bearings via an external toothing, which is powered by an motor.
As it will appear from fig. 9, the new type of hose reel is based on use of only one load-carrying bearing 22, where the bearing is turned around rollers or as shown balls 23.
The hose is wound up between the drum discs 24 and 25, which are placed from each other by distance pieces 26, and mutually fastened via bolts 27.
The drum discs are driven by an internal toothing 21 via the gear wheel 20 on an motor 19, which is typically a hydraulic motor, and where the rotation occurs around the axis of rotation 28.
With a construction as the one shown in fig 9., greater powers can be transferred with a lower total weight of components than it is possible with the hitherto used hose reels.
Tests have shown that the invention can e.g. increase the relation between the capacity and the total weight of a combined high-pressure washer and gully emptying vehicle with more than 35%.

Claims

PATENT CLAIMS
• 1. A method of weight, volume and capacity improvement of vehicles, including combined high-pressure washer and gully emptying vehicles provided with a tank (1) with opening-type rear cover (2) for materials such as flushing liquid and sludge, including where these materials are separated by a piston (10) and where the vehicle is provided with at least one hose reel (18) for pressure- or suction hoses characte rized in that the vehicle is provided with one or more hose reels (18) where the reeling drums (24, 25) are suspended in a load-carrying bearing (22) and provided with an internal toothing (21), which is powered by a gear wheel (20) mounted on an motor(19).
2. A method, according to claim ^ch aracte ri zed in that the tank (1) is provided with a piston (10) to separate sludge and flushing liquid, where the piston (10) is powered by at least one linear actuator such as a hydraulic cylinder (12).
3. A method according to claim 1 or 2 c h a r a c t e r i z e d in that the tank (1) is fastened to a console (13) by one ore more retainer clamps (1.4).
4. A method according to one or more of claims 1 to3characteri z e d in that the rear cover (2) of the tank (1) via a hinge shaft (3) is suspended in an angled or curved slit (4A).

Vehicles provided with tank (1) and hose reels (18), including combined high-pressure washer and gully emptying vehicles provided with tank (1 ) with opening-type rear cover (2) for materials such as flushing liquid and sludge, including where these materials are separated by a piston (10) and where the vehicle is provided with at least one hose reel (18) for pressure- or suction hoses c h a r a c t e r i z e d in that the rear cover (2) of the tank (1 ), via a hinge shaft (3) is suspended in an angled or curved slit (4A) and/or that the tank (1) is provided with a piston (10) for separation between sludge and flushing liquid, where the piston (19) is powered by at least one linear actuator such as a hydraulic cylinder (12), and/or that the tank (1) is mounted to a console (13) with one or more retainer clamps (14), and/or that the vehicle is provided with one or more hose reels (18), where the reeling drums (24, 25) are suspended in a single load-carrying bearing (22) and provided with an internal toothing (21), which is powered by a gear wheel (20) mounted on an motor (19).
