Definitions
- the present invention relates to a device for interrupting a communication line, more particularly a line transmitting computer data between a computer and a computer network.
- Such a device is described for example in the document WO 03/010627 . It allows the user to physically break the link between the computer and the network to, in particular, protect the computer against computer attacks from the network.
- the document DE 102 13 351 describes a device for interrupting a data line connected to a computer and powered by the latter to close or open according to the state, active or standby, of the computer.
- a computer With broadband connections such as DSL, SDSL, etc., a computer can remain permanently connected to the Internet, exposing it to malicious computer intrusions.
- Existing software such as firewall, anti-intrusion or anti-virus provide security but are far from being an absolute protection. Interrupting the physical link between the network and the computer when the latter is not used to exchange data is a very effective complement of protection.
- interrupt devices used for this purpose nevertheless have a major disadvantage: they do not take into account the fact that the same data communication line can be used to transmit signals independent of each other, that is to say signals concerning different applications and / or from or intended for different networks.
- communication lines meeting the RJ45 standard include different functional groups of wires, one of which is intended for transmitting computer data and another for transmitting telephone signals.
- the present invention aims to overcome this drawback and proposes for this purpose an interruption device according to claim 1 or 2 appended, a communication line according to claim 9 or 10, a computer network according to claim 14 and a method of An interrupt according to claim 15, particular embodiments of the invention being defined in the dependent claims.
- a device for interrupting a communication line comprises a housing 2 having on one of its faces two input / output jacks 3, 4.
- the input jacks / output 3, 4 are intended to receive respectively two cables 5, 6, allowing these cables 5, 6 to be connected in series.
- the cables 5, 6 define, with the interruption device 1, said communication line.
- the input / output jacks 3, 4 and the cables 5, 6 are of the RJ45 type.
- the cables 5, 6 thus each comprise a first group of wires 7a, composed of two pairs of son called “orange pair” 7c and "green pair” 7d, and a second group of son 7b, composed of two other pairs of said son. "Blue pair” 7th and "brown pair” 7f.
- the first and second son groups 7a, 7b are intended to transmit respective signals independent of each other. More precisely, the first group of wires 7a is intended to transmit computer data and the blue pair 7e of the second group of wires 7b to transmit telephone signals (voice signals).
- the brown pair 7f of the second group of son 7b is, for its part, not yet used in the RJ45 standard.
- the wires of the cables 5, 6 are not necessarily arranged as illustrated in FIG. figure 2 ; they are usually twisted and the pairs can be intertwined at the sockets 3, 4.
- the interruption device 1 comprises switches 8, of which there are four in the illustrated example, each connected between the input / output jacks 3, 4, more precisely between a respective electrical contact 9 of the socket 3 and a respective electrical contact 10 of the socket 4.
- These switches 8 are respectively associated with the son of the first group 7a of each of the cables 5, 6 and are operable simultaneously from outside the housing 2 by means of a manual control member 11 provided on one of the faces of the housing 2.
- the switches 8 can thus take, together, a closed position in which, when the cables 5, 6 are connected to the device of 1, more precisely to the electrical contacts 9, 10 of the sockets 3, 4, the son of the first group 7a of the cable 5 are respectively connected to the corresponding son of the first group 7a of the cable 6, allowing the exchange of C between the cables 5, 6 through the housing 2, and a open position (shown in figure 2 ) in which the wires of the first group 7a of the cable 5 are disconnected from the wires of the first group 7a of the cable 6.
- the interruption device 1 also comprises, inside the housing 2, transmission means consisting of conductors 12, four in number in the illustrated example, each connected between the input / output jacks 3, 4, more precisely between a respective electrical contact 9 of the receptacle 3 and a respective electrical contact 10 of the receptacle 4.
- These conductors 12 are respectively associated with the wires of the second group 7b of each of the cables 5, 6. 5, 6 are connected to the interruption device 1, these conductors 12 respectively connect the son of the second group 7b of the cable 5 to the corresponding son of the second group 7b of the cable 6, without interruption possible.
- the inside of the interruption device 1 according to the invention, comprising the switches 8 and the conductors 12, is preferably made in the form of a printed circuit.
- the interruption device 1 thus allows the interruption of the data communications between the cables 5, 6, while allowing the possible signals, independent of said data, transmitted by the second group of wires 7b of the cables 5, to pass through, 6. More particularly, in the case of the RJ45 standard, the telephone signals transmitted by the blue pair 7e of the second group of wires 7b can continue to be exchanged through the housing 2 when the exchange of data transmitted by the first group of son 7a is interrupted.
- the figure 3 shows an example of a computer system in which the interruption device 1 according to the invention can be used.
- This system comprises a local computer network 13, for example Ethernet type, comprising a number of computers interconnected by RJ45 wiring. At least one of these computers, indicated by the mark 14, is connected to the rest of the network 13 by a communication line as illustrated in FIG. figure 2 , that is to say that an interruption device 1 according to the invention is connected between this computer 14 and the corresponding network socket 15 by cables 16 RJ45 type.

Abstract
Description
The present invention relates to a device for interrupting a communication line, more particularly a line transmitting computer data between a computer and a computer network.
With broadband connections such as DSL, SDSL, etc., a computer can remain permanently connected to the Internet, exposing it to malicious computer intrusions. Existing software such as firewall, anti-intrusion or anti-virus provide security but are far from being an absolute protection. Interrupting the physical link between the network and the computer when the latter is not used to exchange data is a very effective complement of protection.
The interrupt devices used for this purpose nevertheless have a major disadvantage: they do not take into account the fact that the same data communication line can be used to transmit signals independent of each other, that is to say signals concerning different applications and / or from or intended for different networks. For example, communication lines meeting the RJ45 standard include different functional groups of wires, one of which is intended for transmitting computer data and another for transmitting telephone signals. By physically interrupting the communication line connecting a computer and one or more networks, the interruption devices known to date prevent the transmission to and from the computer of all the signals normally conveyed by this communication line, including the signals which pose no risk in terms of computer security.
The present invention aims to overcome this drawback and proposes for this purpose an interruption device according to

The
The inside of the
The
In practice, the
The transmission of telephone signals or computer data associated with the
In another variant of application, the data exchanged between the computers of the

The present invention has been described above by way of example only. It goes without saying that modifications could be made without departing from the scope of the claimed invention. For example, the
