Abstract

A pressure booster (19) for increasing the fuel injection pressure opposite the system pressure includes a booster main body (4), a hollow piston (20), and a plunger (21) coaxially disposed in the piston. A pressure boosting area (22) is defined between the piston and the plunger. The system pressure acts in the pressure boosting area and on the side opposite the hollow piston. The booster is included into a fuel injector (1).
