Definitions
- the invention relates to the field of mechanical watchmaking. More specifically, it relates to a watch movement equipped with a mechanism for indicating moon phases and tides.
- Watch movements have often been used to give indications on periodic natural phenomena such as the succession of days, months, phases of the moon, etc.
- the tide is also one of these periodic phenomena, resulting from the attractions of the moon and sun on the sea, so that its period is related to the lunar month.
- the average interval between two consecutive high seas is about twelve hours and twenty-five minutes.
- the high tide hour takes the same value periodically, every twenty-nine days twelve forty-four minutes and two decimal eighty-eight seconds (29d 44min 2.88s), the average duration of a lunar month.
- the document JP 62263490 discloses a clockwork movement comprising a tide mobile and a mobile moon phases arranged on two different kinematic chains.
- the present invention aims to overcome the aforementioned disadvantage by providing a mechanism for adjusting the indication of moon phases and tides by a single manipulation.
- the invention relates to a clockwork movement provided with an hour wheel, equipped with a tide and moon phase indicating mechanism comprising a moon phase wheel and a tide wheel both connected to each other. kinematically to the hour wheel and respectively intended to carry display means of the moon and tide phases.
- the tide wheel is kinematically connected to the hour wheel by means of the moon phase wheel.
- the mechanism according to the invention further comprises means for effecting the simultaneous correction of moon phases and tides.
- the tide is, by nature, a local phenomenon.
- the time of the high and low tides varies from one place to another of the same coast, without the moon phases changing in the same way. It is therefore particularly interesting to have a watch allowing a tide adjustment independent of that of the moon phases.
- the mechanism according to the invention offers such a possibility.
- the invention relates to a mechanism, characterized in that it further comprises means for correcting the indication of the tides and disengagement means of the kinematic link between the tide mobile and the phase wheel. of moon, located between the display means of moon phases and tide.
- the tide wheel has a first toothed wheel integral with the tide display means and cooperating with the tide indication correction means, a second gear wheel, kinematically connected to the moon phase wheel. , and connecting means of the first and second gears arranged to be disengaged when the torque applied by the tide indication correction means on the first wheel exceeds a predefined limit value.
- the mechanism for indicating moon phases and tides according to the invention is intended to equip a watch, a dial of which is represented in FIG. figure 1 .
- This dial has a moon phase display 10 and a tide display 12.
- the moon phase display 10 is located at six o'clock on the dial.
- the tide display 12 is formed of a small round dial 14 located at nine o'clock and provided with a scale provided with graduations. As will be understood below, this scale makes it possible to indicate the hours at which high and low tides occur. In the illustrated embodiment, the pitch between two graduations represents one hour.
- the scale shows two high tides and two successive low tides, that is to say that the graduations extend over about 24 hours and 50 minutes, a double period of the tides phenomenon. In practice, two graduations are spaced fourteen degrees, twenty-nine minutes and forty-eight seconds, which does not allow a regular distribution over the entire periphery of the dial. To overcome this drawback, the scale is represented only on a portion of the dial.
- a display disc 16 appearing in the dial 14 is driven at the frequency of one revolution per period of twenty-nine days, twelve hours and forty-five minutes, or substantially one lunar month, by the mechanism according to the invention which will be described. below.
- This disc substantially represents an eight on the bottom of lines perpendicular to its longitudinal axis. The two ends of the eight indicate, at their points of tangency 18 and 20 with the graduation, the hours of the high tides, while the node 22 of the eight indicates, with the help of the lines of the bottom, the time of the low tides.
- the starting point of the gear train 26 is the hour wheel 28 located in the center of the plate 24, and making a turn every twelve hours.
- An intermediate wheel 38 meshes with the wheel 28, and carries a pinion 40 which meshes with a toothed wheel 42 on which is mounted, free to rotate, a finger 44.
- the wheel 42 is provided with a stop 46 intended to exert a thrust on the finger 44, as explained later, while limiting the rotation of the latter.
- a seven-star star wheel 48, integral with a pinion 50, is disposed in the vicinity of the wheel 42, so that one of its teeth is always engaged on the path of the finger 44.
- the star wheel 48 is positioned by a jumper spring 52.
- the pinion 50 meshes with the moon phase wheel 30.
- An intermediate mobile connects the moon phase wheel 30 and the mobile tides 32. More particularly, the intermediate mobile comprises a pinion 54 engaged with the moon phase wheel 30 and a tide intermediate wheel 56 integral with the pinion 54 and meshing with the mobile tides 32.
- the gear ratio of pinion 54 to the intermediate wheel tides 56 is worth half.
- the mobile of the tides 32 represented in figure 3 , comprises a wolf wheel 58 secured to a friction spring 60.
- the whole is mounted coaxially on a toothed wheel 62 of diameter close to that of the wheel 58.
- the toothed wheel 62 is equipped with an annular recess 64, formed in its upper surface, and forming a housing for the friction spring 60.
- the side wall 66 of the recess 64 located on the outside of the wheel 62 forms a slightly retracting angle, for reasons of which will appear later.
- the friction spring 60 illustrated on the figure 4 has a circular central portion 68 and a plurality (at least two are necessary) of identical branches 70a, 70b and 70c, integral with the central portion 68 and distributed regularly on its periphery.
- Each branch 70a, 70b and 70c is connected to the central portion 68 by a substantially radial arm, and extends along it, following the contour without touching it.
- the branches 70a, 70b and 70c are terminated by runners 72a, 72b and 72c, whose surface intended to exert a friction has a radius of curvature substantially equal to that of the wall 66.
- the branches 70a, 70b, 70c are, in in addition, dimensioned to exhibit an elastic behavior exerted in the plane of the central portion 68.
- the friction spring 60 differs from friction springs well known to those skilled in the art, usually exerting an axial thrust and non-lateral.
- the friction spring 60 is housed in the recess 64.
- the dimensional ratio of the spring 60 relative to the recess 64 is chosen so that the branches 70a, 70b and 70c are compressed and exert, via the pads 72a, 72b and 72c, a substantially radial force on the wall 66.
- the slightly tilting angle of the wall 66 further ensures the retention of the friction spring 60 in the recess 64.
- the friction spring 60 thus connects the wheels 58 and 62, this link can be disengaged according to the difference between the torques exerted on each of these two wheels.
- the toothed wheel 42 is driven via the wheel 38 and pinion 40, at the frequency of one revolution per day.
- the finger 44 is driven by the stop 46 until it comes into contact with the tooth of the star wheel 48 engaged in its path. Then, under the action of the abutment 46, it exerts a thrust on the tooth, thereby rotating, with the aid of the jumper spring 52, the star wheel 48 of a seventh turn per day.
- the pinion 50 secured to the star wheel 48, then rotates the moon phase wheel 30 at a frequency of a turn substantially every two lunar months, ie fifty-nine days, one hour and thirty minutes.
- the moonphase wheel 30 in turn drives the toothed wheel 62 of the tide wheel 32 via the wheel 56 and the pinion 54.
- the toothed wheel 62 is itself connected to the wolf tooth wheel 58. by the frictional torque exerted by the friction spring 60, and the entire tide mobile 32 is driven, via the toothed wheel 62, at the frequency of one revolution per lunar month.
- the correction device 34 is formed of a pusher 74 operable from outside the watch and cooperating with the star wheel 48, and a leaf spring 76 resting on the pusher 74 to ensure its return to its position. rest.
- the star wheel 48 advances by one step, driving the moon phase wheel 30 and, at the same time, the tide wheel 32 via the wheel 56 and the pinion 54. Displays of the moon phases and tides are corrected simultaneously after, for example, a stop of the mechanism of the watch.
- the correction device 36 consists of a ratchet rocker 78 cooperating with the mobile tides 32, a pusher 80 cooperating with this rocker, and a leaf spring 82 bearing on the latter.
- the angle traveled by the wolf wheel 58 depends on the pressure exerted by the user, and can be, in practice, as low as desired. The adjustment made is thus substantially finer than it would be if a snap-in device was used in place of the friction spring 60.
- a snap-in device allows only a step adjustment.
- the leaf spring 82 returns the pawl latch 78 to its initial position.
- the pawl beak retracts during the return of the latch 78 so that the wolf wheel 58 is not driven in the opposite direction.
- the mechanism for indicating the moon phases and the tides thus described adapts to the dial represented in FIG. figure 1 .
- the display disk 16 of the tides is integral with the wolf tooth wheel 58, and that of the moon phases is integral with the moon phase wheel 30.
- a mechanism for indicating moon phases and tides advantageously allowing the simultaneous adjustment of displays of moon phases and tides, and the independent adjustment of the tide display.
- Other variants can be easily imagined without departing from the scope of the invention.
- the frictional connection between the wheels 58 and 62 may be located elsewhere than on the mobile 32, as long as it is located on the kinematic chain between the moon and tide phase display disks 16.
