Description

The invention relates to a self-service cash system with a goods detection device with an integrated payment device.

From the US 6,363,355 B1 a self-service checkout system is known which enables the customers of a supermarket to capture even the goods and articles intended for purchase and preferably to carry out the payment process themselves. The Selbstbedienungskassen system has a first storage device for goods on which the goods can be stored and from which they can then be fed to an adjacent goods detection device. The goods detection device has a scanner for detecting the barcode. The goods detection device is followed by a second storage device for goods, which has bag holders for attaching shopping bags. Preferably, the bag holder is designed such that the grocery bag is in an open position, so that the captured goods can be placed immediately in the grocery bag. A balance is integrated in the second storage device so that the weight of the goods placed in the shopping bags can be determined and plausibility calculations can be carried out in order to avoid fraud during the subsequent payment process, which is carried out at a payment device.

However, these self-service checkout systems can only be operated from the front. However, this is very impractical if the self-service checkout system is to be used by employees of the supermarket as a checkout, as is the case in particular during rush hours. As a customer usually requires a longer period for collecting his goods than trained cashiers and in a supermarket only a limited number is available from cash registers, it makes sense to temporarily switch the operation of the cash register system from self-service to operation by qualified personnel.

Object of the present invention is therefore to develop a self-checkout system such that it can also be used for the serviced goods detection.

To solve this problem, the invention in conjunction with the preamble of claim 1, characterized in that the goods detection device of the self-service cash system consists of a foot segment and a pivotable about a vertical axis of rotation relative to the Fusegment head segment, wherein the head segment at least one scanner for the goods registration, a Customer information screen and a payment facility.

The particular advantage of the invention is that an operation of the self-service system is made possible by turning the head segment of the POS system from the back. This allows an operator to be positioned on the self-service checkout system as in conventional POS systems on the opposite side of the customer. The POS system according to the invention thus allows a flexible use of the POS system without long changeover times, wherein the operator of the POS system can decide whether he uses it for self-service by the customer or for operation by specialized personnel.

According to a preferred embodiment of the invention, a second storage device for detected goods on a pivoting bag holder, so that the head segment of the goods detection device is freely pivotable about a vertical axis from the self-service position to the operating position.

Further advantages of the invention will become apparent from the further subclaims.

An embodiment of the invention will be explained in more detail with reference to the drawings.

At a self-service checkout system 1 according to FIG. 1, a customer of a supermarket himself - without the assistance of an operator of the supermarket - detects the goods he has bought and carries out the payment process.

The self-service cash register system 1 is composed of a plurality of components connected to each other. The self-service check system 1 has a first storage device 2, which has a horizontally extending support surface 3, on which a shopping basket with goods contained in this can be parked in a comfortable height for the customer. Preferably the storage surface 3 is fastened to a side wall of a goods detection device 5 adjoining the first storage device 2 in the machining direction 4. The first storage device 2 thus preferably does not have its own base.

The goods detection device 5 consists of a fixed foot segment 6 and a pivotable about a vertical axis V head segment 7. In the head segment 7, a scanner 8 for detecting coding of goods such as a barcode and a scale 9 are housed for weight detection. Preferably, the scanner has a horizontal scanner disk 8 'and a second vertical scanner disk 8 "Furthermore, a payment device 10 is integrated in the head segment 7 with a coin entry device 11 and a banknote entry device 12 for the input of banknotes so that the payment process can be done by means of a bank card or credit card.

Furthermore, the head segment 7 has a dispensing opening 13 for coins. Furthermore, an issue slot may be provided for the issue of a receipt. A screen 14 is used to display the detected goods or the price of the goods, when the customer captures the goods code by means of the scanner 8. In this way, the customer always has a good overview of the already detected by means of the scanner 8 goods. The screen 14 may also be designed as a touchscreen to allow easy operation by the customer. Furthermore, the head segment 7 has a data processing device in which the captured goods data are processed.

In the foot segment 6, a banknote storage can be accommodated with a winding store or a cassette for depositing and dispensing banknotes. To issue the banknotes an output tray 15 is provided, so that as part of the payment process and notes can be issued as a refund. As the banknote storage usually for security reasons be accommodated in a vault, the foot segment is correspondingly solid.

At the goods detection device 5, a second depositing device 16 follows in the machining direction 4, onto which the scanned goods can be gradually deposited. For this purpose, the second depositing device 16 has a bag holder 17 for attaching shopping bags (not shown). The bag holder 17 consists of a frame 18 with two to a front side 19 of the second storage device 16 facing holding webs 20. The holding webs 20 are used to hold opposite flaps of a grocery bag, so that the grocery bag can be brought into an open position for receiving the previously scanned Were.

The frame 18 is fixedly connected to a bottom element 21, which is arranged displaceably and lockable on a base 22 of the storage device 16. In the bottom element 21 or in the base 22, a balance is arranged for detecting the stored goods. In particular, the weight of the goods stored in the shopping bags should be checked for control purposes.

In the initial position of the bag holder 17 according to Figure 1, the holding webs 20 extend above a bottom plane 23 of the pivotable head segment 7. Before the head segment 7 is rotated about the vertical axis V by 180 ° to a goods detection by an operator of the supermarket from the back 24th allow the cash register system 1, the bag holder 17 is pivoted about a horizontal axis H. As better seen in Figures 2 and 3, the bottom member 21 of the bag holder 17 is pivotally mounted on the back 22 on the base 22. By pivoting the bottom element 21, the bag holder 17 extends substantially in the horizontal direction. Since the depth t of the bottom element 21 is smaller than the distance a between an upper side 25 of the base 22 and the bottom plane 23 of the head segment 7, the head segment 7 of the goods detection device 5 can be rotated by 180 °, wherein in Figure 2, an intermediate position of the rotational movement is shown.

Once the head segment 7 has been rotated by 180 °, the bag holder 17 can be moved again from the lower position to the upper position. It can now take place a goods registration on the back 24 of the cash register system 1 by an operator of the supermarket forth. The customer only needs to place the goods on the support surface 3 of the first storage device 2. The operator of the supermarket takes the goods individually and detects the same by means of the scanner 8. Subsequently, the operator can store the goods, for example, in the provided and opened by the bag holder 17 shopping bag. Since the bottom member 21 is slidably mounted on the base 22, the bag holder 17 can be moved toward the back of the cash register system 1, and the operator can then conveniently store the goods in the bag. The display of information about the scanned goods can be done by a second screen, not shown, which - as the card reader - is hinged to the head segment 7. In the operating position, the payment is made in the usual way by the customer either handing over cash to the operator of the supermarket or by means of a bank account.
Customer card paid. Subsequently, a receipt is handed over to the customer by the operator of the supermarket. The customer's purchase is thus completed.

In the self-service position both the goods registration and the payment process is carried out in the usual way without the help of an operator of the supermarket independently by the customer.

So that the bag holder 17 can be pivoted, the base has suitable guide means for this purpose. Furthermore, at the bottom of the floor element 21, two parallel guide webs 26 are arranged, which engage in the upper position of the bag holder 17 in corresponding rails 27 of the base 22. The rail 27 has in its front and rear area in each case a recess 28, engage in the end-side locking lugs 29 of the guide webs 26. This allows pivoting and locking of the bag holder. However, other technical implementations of the displaceability and the pivotability of the bag holder are conceivable within the scope of the invention.
