Definitions
- the invention relates to a connector, preferably for use in the automotive sector, according to the features of the preamble of patent claim 1.
- connectors in particular plugs or sockets, known which have a prefabricated housing.
- This prefabricated housing is made of an electrically non-conductive material and is produced for example in a plastic injection molding process.
- This housing has contact chambers into which contact partners (eg contact pins or contact sockets) can be inserted and fixed there.
- the contact partners are located at the end of an electrical conductor and are electrically contacted with this.
- the electrical contacting of the contact partner to the electrical conductor is preferably carried out by a crimped connection, which is advantageous in terms of contact reliability and durability, especially in automotive applications.
- the region in which the at least one electrical conductor is guided into the housing is provided with a seal, so that water or Moisture, which is located on the electrical conductors, not in the direction of the contact chambers, in which the contact partners are, can get.
- a seal is made in an injection molding process, so that no water or moisture from the direction of the electrical conductor in the direction of Contact chambers can get.
- this injection molding compound also surrounds the contact point (crimp area), at which the contact partner is electrically contacted with electrical conductor ends. This leads to a further increase in contact reliability and their durability.
- care must be taken that this injection molding compound can not get in the direction of the contact chambers.
- the prefabricated housing which is pre-equipped with the contact partners and the electrical conductors, is inserted into an injection molding tool, wherein this has a slider which is arranged in the injection molding tool is that is prevented by its arrangement that injection molding compound can penetrate during their processing in the contact chambers of the housing.
- Such a slide must be made separately for each housing variant, whereby the tool costs are high.
- it is necessary to provide a matched slider for each construction of a housing in the injection mold, so that with each injection mold and only a particular connector can be produced.
- the electrical conductors which may be, for example, strands or wires with an insulating jacket, must be used in a predetermined arrangement in the injection molding tool. This is necessary so that the injection molding compound can effectively form the seal. So far, these electrical conductors have been clamped together, but it can come through the resulting gusset in the Caribbeankleemmung to overjections in the outlet area, ie the transition from the prefabricated housing in the direction of the electrical conductors.
- the invention is therefore based on the charge to avoid the disadvantages described above, in particular to reduce the tooling costs and thus the manufacturing cost of a connector, to simplify the injection molding and thereby maintain the sealing effect with respect to the longitudinal water-tightness or even increase.
- the latch according to the invention is a simple component which is inserted into the prefabricated housing before encapsulation and, after the shaping and processing of the injection molding compound, remains in the housing or can be removed therefrom to form a seal.
- the bolt is clamped during the encapsulation process in order to prevent penetration of the encapsulation material in the contact chambers. Due to the clamping and the direct contact with encapsulation material, the bolt can not always be easily removed. From an electrical point of view, a separation of the two rows of contacts is given by the bolt and to see as an advantage.
- Usual are injection molds, but in principle can be applied by a casting the bolt technology also.
- the invention provides that a plurality of electrical conductors in a predeterminable position to each other festlegbares element is provided, said element is at least partially, in particular completely, umgewandbar with the injection molding compound.
- This element has the task of positioning the several electrical conductors to one another in a predeterminable position relative to one another, so that over-spraying in the outgoing region is avoided.
- Such an element comes in single-row connectors into consideration when the electrical conductors strands, cables or the like, ie individual conductors are.
- the element according to the invention can be used in a single-row design of the connector, since this defines the transition region of the electrical conductor in the direction of the housing of the connector.
- Particularly advantageous is the application of the element according to the invention in two- or multi-row versions of the connector, as here by the plurality of individual electrical conductors or the presence of several superimposed films, optical fibers, or the like It is particularly important that a defined position of the electrical conductors in the transition region is achieved to achieve the longitudinal water-tightness.
- this element which is also designed as a spacer element, between the individual electrical conductors (strands, cables, foils, optical waveguides and the like) in the clamping region of the injection molding tool significantly improves the clamping and positional positioning. As a result, no gussets arise.
- a lower temperature stress on the electrical conductor is given, since the temperature can be distributed over a larger area and, if appropriate, can also be dissipated in the direction of the electrical conductors and in the direction of the housing.
- the inventive element optimally surrounded with injection molding compound (lapped), so that the best possible longitudinal water resistance is achieved.
- the element according to the invention for fixing the position and fixing the individual electrical conductors is part of the housing and manufactured in one piece with this.
- This has the advantage that the housing can already be made in one piece, in particular in an injection molding process, with the element for fixing the position, thereby further simplifying the manufacturing process of the connector. Because after the contact partners have been used in the individual contact chambers of the housing, can manually or automatically, the electrical conductors are fixed to the element, in particular clamped.
- the bolt to prevent the ingress of injection molding compound into the contact chambers and the element for fixing the individual electrical conductors in a predetermined position to each other form a one-piece component, wherein the bolt is connected via a spacer element with the element for fixing the position.
- this one-piece component which is also inexpensive in a plastic injection molding process can be produced, on the one hand prevents the penetration of the injection molding compound into the contact chambers when surrounding the end portion of the housing with the injection molding compound, but at the same time allows the determination of the individual electrical conductors to each other and with respect to a predeterminable position on the housing, thereby forming and processing the injection molding compound to achieve the seal and the longitudinal water-tightness can be optimally performed
- FIG. 1 shows a connector 1 according to the invention before and after encapsulation with an injection molding compound.
- the connector 1 has a prefabricated housing 2, wherein this prefabricated housing 2 is produced in a plastic injection-molding method with an opening 22 and is formed in two rows in this example.
- the prefabricated housing 2 has according to the number of used contact partners (not shown here) contact chambers 3, in which these contact partners are used and fixed there.
- the Contact partners themselves are arranged at the end of electrical conductors 4 and contacted with these electrically, wherein the electrical contact preferably via a crimped connection, but alternatively also via other connections (eg soldering) are connectable.
- Such a prepared and in the left representation of FIG. 1 shown connector 1 is inserted into an injection molding tool, wherein with the injection molding step to be performed an injection molding compound 5 (see right illustration of FIG. 1 ) is to surround the housing 2 and the end region of the electrical conductors 4.
- This injection molding compound 5 has the task of sealing the transition region from the housing 2 in the direction of the electrical conductors 4 and to produce longitudinal water-tightness there.
- the injection molding tool has for shaping and processing corresponding inner contours, wherein prior to insertion of the prepared connector 1 in the injection mold still in a recess in the prefabricated housing 2, an inventive latch 6 must be used.
- This bar 6 causes that after insertion of the prepared connector 1 in the injection mold and the subsequent shaping and processing of the injection molding compound 5, this can not penetrate in the direction of the contact region of the contact partners, ie in the direction of the contact chambers 3.
- FIG. 2 shows an inventive element for fixing the position in a predetermined position to each other of the electrical conductor 4, wherein this element 7 can also be produced in a plastic injection molding process.
- the shape of the element 7 is such that it receives the individual electrical conductors 4 (for example, by a clamping operation) and fixes their position relative to one another.
- FIG. 2 (Second illustration from the left) is further recognizable that the latch 6 and the element 7 for fixing the position of the electrical conductors 4 form a one-piece component, wherein the latch 6 and element 7 are connected to each other via a spacer 8.
- the injection molding process for the production of the connector 1 is further improved, as are protected by the latch 6 on the one hand, the contact chambers from ingress of injection molding compound, but on the other hand, the individual electrical conductors 4 have a defined position to each other, so in the subsequent injection molding process, the injection molding 5 electrical conductor 4 flows around optimally.
- This Injection molding process with the injection molding compound 5 is in the second representation from the right of FIG. 2 shown. In the right-hand illustration of the FIG. 2 It can be seen that after the executed injection molding process, the spacer 8 has been removed. This is not necessarily required, but offers itself to increase the compactness of the manufactured connector 1.
- the spacer 8 is formed according to the invention via predetermined breaking points on the latch 6 and / or the element 7 in order to be able to break it off easily. It is also conceivable that such a predetermined breaking point is present only on the element 7, so that there the spacer element 8 can be canceled while the latch 6 is to remain on the spacer 8 when the latch 6 is to be removed from the housing 2.
- FIGS. 3 and 4 show inventive connector 1, wherein in FIG. 3 a plug and in FIG. 4 a jack is shown. These embodiments differ by the prefabricated housing, but the basic principle of the bolt 6 and the element 7 and their operation is maintained.
- the separately manufactured according to plug FIG. 3 and sockets according to FIG. 4 are plugged together during their later use, on the one hand ensured by this mating operation and the design of the prefabricated housing that in the mating region and thus in the contact area no water or moisture can penetrate. So that this does not take place from the direction of the electrical conductors 4, just the injection-molding compound 5 is present in the transition region of the housing 2 in the direction of the electrical conductors 4.
- the latch 6 is not shown, but present.
- the element 7 for fixing the position of the individual electrical conductors 4 is integrally formed with the housing 2 and manufactured together with this.
- FIG. 3 is not necessarily a latch 6 available because a bolt is not necessarily required on the connector side, since there is the possibility to press the pin contacts. Nevertheless, the latch 6 may be present in such a case with a plug.
- latch 6 and the element 7 can be separate components, are integrally connected to one another (in particular via the spacer 8) or combinations thereof can be realized.
- FIG. 5 shows a connector with a bolt according to the invention in section according to FIG. 1 , Visible is the prefabricated housing 2 with its contact chambers 3, in each of which a contact partner 9 is inserted, which is arranged at the end of the electrical conductor 4 and contacted with this electrically.
- the finished connector 1 shown already has the injection molding compound 5 as a seal, wherein the latch 6 has prevented that the injection molding compound 5 penetrates into the contact chambers 3 and thus into the contact region of the contact partner 9.
- the element 7 for fixing the position of the electrical conductor 4 is present to each other.

The invention is therefore based on the charge to avoid the disadvantages described above, in particular to reduce the tooling costs and thus the manufacturing cost of a connector, to simplify the injection molding and thereby maintain the sealing effect with respect to the longitudinal water-tightness or even increase.
This object is solved by the features of patent claim 1.
It is provided before the beginning of the injection molding process in the prefabricated housing replaceable latch, which prevents penetration of injection molding compound in a contact region of at least one contact partner, said latch is not part of an injection molding tool for shaping and processing of the injection molding compound. Based on this is inventively provided that a plurality of electrical conductors is provided in a predetermined position to each other festlegbares element, said element is at least partially, in particular completely, with the injection-molding compound umvorbar.
This solution has the advantage that such bars can be prefabricated with the described function easily and inexpensively, for example, in a plastic injection molding, what they need to be used after their production only in a corresponding recess in the prefabricated housing after there the contact partners In the Contact clips have been used. The geometric shape of a bolt can be easily adapted to any housing shape, so that in a particularly advantageous manner with changes in the housing shape and correspondingly changed latch can be used without the injection mold to be adjusted the two rows of contacts or the plurality of contact rows introduced so as to achieve sufficient sealing. This can be dispensed with by the presence and the onset of the bolt in the prefabricated housing in the injection molding on the previously known lateral slide. The latch according to the invention is a simple component which is inserted into the prefabricated housing before encapsulation and, after the shaping and processing of the injection molding compound, remains in the housing or can be removed therefrom to form a seal. The bolt is clamped during the encapsulation process in order to prevent penetration of the encapsulation material in the contact chambers. Due to the clamping and the direct contact with encapsulation material, the bolt can not always be easily removed. From an electrical point of view, a separation of the two rows of contacts is given by the bolt and to see as an advantage. Usual are injection molds, but in principle can be applied by a casting the bolt technology also.
Furthermore, the invention provides that a plurality of electrical conductors in a predeterminable position to each other festlegbares element is provided, said element is at least partially, in particular completely, umgewandbar with the injection molding compound. This element has the task of positioning the several electrical conductors to one another in a predeterminable position relative to one another, so that over-spraying in the outgoing region is avoided. In addition, can be shortened by the position positioning of the individual electrical conductors to each other in common clamping by the element according to the invention, the Umspritzlänge. Such an element comes in single-row connectors into consideration when the electrical conductors strands, cables or the like, ie individual conductors are. Even with foil conductors, optical waveguides and the like, the element according to the invention can be used in a single-row design of the connector, since this defines the transition region of the electrical conductor in the direction of the housing of the connector. Particularly advantageous is the application of the element according to the invention in two- or multi-row versions of the connector, as here by the plurality of individual electrical conductors or the presence of several superimposed films, optical fibers, or the like It is particularly important that a defined position of the electrical conductors in the transition region is achieved to achieve the longitudinal water-tightness. The use of this element, which is also designed as a spacer element, between the individual electrical conductors (strands, cables, foils, optical waveguides and the like) in the clamping region of the injection molding tool significantly improves the clamping and positional positioning. As a result, no gussets arise. In addition, a lower temperature stress on the electrical conductor is given, since the temperature can be distributed over a larger area and, if appropriate, can also be dissipated in the direction of the electrical conductors and in the direction of the housing. In addition, by the fixing of the position and the resulting separation of the individual electrical conductors from each other by the inventive element optimally surrounded with injection molding compound (lapped), so that the best possible longitudinal water resistance is achieved.
The element according to the invention for fixing the position and fixing the individual electrical conductors is part of the housing and manufactured in one piece with this. This has the advantage that the housing can already be made in one piece, in particular in an injection molding process, with the element for fixing the position, thereby further simplifying the manufacturing process of the connector. Because after the contact partners have been used in the individual contact chambers of the housing, can manually or automatically, the electrical conductors are fixed to the element, in particular clamped. The resulting advantages have already been described above.
This embodiment has the particular advantage that two effects can be achieved with one and the same element. Because this one-piece component, which is also inexpensive in a plastic injection molding process can be produced, on the one hand prevents the penetration of the injection molding compound into the contact chambers when surrounding the end portion of the housing with the injection molding compound, but at the same time allows the determination of the individual electrical conductors to each other and with respect to a predeterminable position on the housing, thereby forming and processing the injection molding compound to achieve the seal and the longitudinal water-tightness can be optimally performed
Embodiments of the invention, to which this is not limited, are described below and explained with reference to the figures.
