Abstract

The invention relates to an inlay sheet (10) for a booklike identification document, an identification document and a corresponding method for the production of an inlay sheet. The inlay sheet can be joined to the other parts of the book along one side via a seam in a hinge area (22). The inlay sheet comprises at least one layer made of thermoplastic elastomer (40, 140, 142, 340, 340', 340'') and at least one other layer (42, 43, 142, 143, 144, 145, 242, 243, 244, 245, 242', 243', 244', 245'). The at least one other layer extends in the direction of the inlay sheet plane (50) essentially from the side (25,25') facing the seam to the hinge area and the at least one layer made of thermoplastic elastomer extends into the hinge area. The layers forming the inlay sheet are laminated to each other.

Description

Stand der TechnikState of the art

The invention is based on an insert sheet for a book-type identification document, a book-type identification document and a method for producing a book-type identification document according to the preamble of the independent claims.

Book-type identification documents generally consist of a plastic or cardboard or linen envelope and data pages of paper and / or plastic. The data pages are attached by a seam on the envelope or on the inside cover page. The data pages have a personal data page on which the most important personal data and the image of the holder of the identification document are arranged. Other data pages may contain further entries for the holder of the identification document or free areas for subsequent entries, for example visas. The data pages can be made of different materials and have a different thickness.

Under identification documents, for example, passports, book-like identity cards or driver's licenses, provisional personal documents or the like understood below.

From the publication EP 0 430 282 A2 Multi-layer identity cards are already known which contain intermediate layers of a thermoplastic elastomer, for example of thermoplastic polyurethane.

Die gebrochene Datenseite löst sich im schlechtesten Fall vom buchartigen Identifikationsdokument ab.There is always the problem that data pages containing plastic, have no satisfactory bending properties. Repeated bending causes first cracks in the laminated sides and finally a break of the side, especially in the area of the seam or where different materials merge into one another. The broken data page is replaced in the worst case by the book-type identification document.

To solve this problem are in the document EP 0 917 966 B1 Insert sheets for book-like identification documents described, which consist of several layers, but at least partially not adhere to each other in the region of the interface.

EP 1 245 407 A2 FIG. 12 shows and describes a flexible and multilayer datasheet of a security document, for example, a passport having a laser-writable layer and a flexible backing layer bonded to the laser-writable layer via a lamination layer. The datasheet has an area where the seam for attaching the datasheet to the passport is placed. The carrier layer extends into this region while the laser-writable layer ends before it.

Vorteile der ErfindungAdvantages of the invention

The insert sheet according to the invention with the features of the independent claim has the advantage that all layers of the insert sheet are firmly connected to each other and thus have a high stability and security against counterfeiting. Furthermore, the insert sheet has very good bending properties and cracks in the document and thus breaks in the side, in particular in the area of the seam, are avoided. It is also possible to personalize such insert sheet as usual and einzulaser data in this data page. Such data may be image data, letters and numbers as well as codes, for example a barcode. Furthermore, it is possible to provide various security features such as tilting or holograms and other known from the ID-1 area security features in the insert sheet.

The basic idea of the invention is that in an insert sheet for a book-type identification document, which has a seam in a hinge area along one side with the other parts of the book is connectable and consists of at least one layer of a thermoplastic elastomer and at least one further layer to extend the at least one layer of a thermoplastic elastomer in the hinge area and the at least one further layer only up to the hinge area to submit to.

For insert sheets to be equipped with microchip and contactless data transmission, it is provided according to the invention to embed the transponder coils in the layer of thermoplastic elastomer, because this material flows around the coil well, the coil is stored sprung in this layer, thereby avoiding damage to the coil become. The coil is embedded outside of the hinge area in the layer of thermoplastic elastomer.

Similar advantages can also be named for the book-type identification document according to the invention with the insert sheet according to the invention.

There is further provided an inventive method for producing a liner sheet for a book-like identification document having the features of the independent claim, which describes a simple and inexpensive method for producing such a liner sheet. Above all, it is advantageous that all layers are connected by lamination and thus a high strength and In addition, the embedding of a transponder coil in the layer of thermoplastic elastomer, a simple and inexpensive Herstellungsunasverfahren for an insert sheet specified by the damage to the transponder coil can be avoided.

The measures listed in the dependent claims advantageous refinements and improvements of the independent claims are possible objects.

To achieve a high stability, it is advantageous to provide the layer of the thermoplastic elastomer in the hinge region with a greater thickness than in the remaining regions. It is particularly advantageous to choose the thickness of the layer of the at least one thermoplastic elastomer in the hinge region such that the total thickness in the hinge region is equal to the total thickness in the remaining regions of the insert sheet. It is thus ensured a continuous transition between the hinge region and the other areas of the insert sheet and thus largely avoided voltage concentrations when bending in this area. It is also advantageous if at least one further layer is arranged on one side of the layer of the thermoplastic elastomer, to allow it to extend to different distances up to the hinge region. As a result, a trailing edge and an increased concentration of stress during bending at the point in the transition region between the hinge area and the other areas of the insert sheet are avoided during bending. It is particularly advantageous to offset the layers by at least 500 .mu.m, particularly advantageously by at least 1 mm. For the strength, it is also advantageous, the layer thickness of the thermoplastic elastomer in the hinge region in the range between 400 .mu.m and 800 .mu.m, preferably between 500 .mu.m and 800 microns has.

Particularly advantageous developments of the method according to the invention for the production of the insert sheet consist in each case of arranging two further layers above or below the layer of thermoplastic elastomer on the same side and stapling these layers together prior to lamination.

As a result, slipping of the layers during lamination is excluded. Stapling is understood to mean the selective welding or melting of the layers, wherein these welding points are preferably outside the range of the future data page. Thus, these welds are later cut off, for example when punching the data page and are no longer visible in the finished document. For example, two to four stapling points are set for a data page in the usual pass page format.

A further advantageous embodiment of the method according to the invention consists in that at least one further layer is arranged essentially on regions of the layer of thermoplastic elastomer which have a smaller thickness than reinforced regions of the layer of thermoplastic elastomer. This ensures that after the production of the insert sheet according to the invention in the hinge region, the layer of thermoplastic elastomer has a greater thickness than in the other areas of the insert sheet. If the upper layer is advantageously arranged, if at least two further layers are to be arranged on one side of the at least one layer of thermoplastic elastomer, then the upper layer is projected so that it protrudes somewhat beyond the reinforcement region, then it is ensured that after production At least two further layers of one side of the at least one layer of thermoplastic elastomer protrude differently far up to the hinge region and an excessive stress concentration during bending stress and the formation of a tear-off edge are avoided. In the production of such a liner sheet, it is particularly advantageous and cost-effective to produce several benefits, for example two or four liner sheets, on a sheet together, wherein the liner sheets are punched out of the sheet after lamination. In this case, the areas in which the layers of the insert sheets were stapled are separated from the finished insert sheet in an advantageous manner.

Er erstreckt sich etwa 5 mm, mindestens jedoch 3 mm links und rechts der Naht.FIG. 1a shows an insert sheet 10 according to the invention for an identification document, for example a passport or identity card or the like. On the insert sheet 10 data of the holder of the identification document, for example, the name 12, the address 13 or a person-specific identification number 14, for example, an ICAO line arranged. Furthermore, the passport image 11 of the holder of the identification document is arranged on one side, here on the right side of such an insert sheet. The insert sheet has a hinge region 22, in which the course of the seam is indicated by means of dashed lines 20. With this seam, the insert sheet is connected to the remaining parts of the identification document. The hinge portion 22 is the portion of the insert sheet in which the insert sheet is bent after sewing with the remaining portions of the passport book. It extends about 5 mm, but at least 3 mm left and right of the seam.

Parallel to the seam, the insert sheet has side edges 24 and 25, wherein the side edge 25 is disposed on the opposite side of the seam. On the insert sheet 10 provided as a data sheet for a book-type identification document, further security features are arranged, which are shown here with reference to guilloches 15. Further, as security features, copy protection elements, micro-writing, luminescent pigments, holograms, watermarks and the like are usable.

Ein zweiseitiges Einlageblatt ergibt nach dem Einnähen in das ldentifikationsdokument vier Seiten, d.h. zwei Vorder- und zwei Rückseiten, während das anhand von Figur 1 a dargestellte einseitige Einlageblatt zwei Seiten (eine Vorder- und eine Rückseite) ergibt.FIG. 1 b shows a further embodiment of an insert sheet 10 according to the invention, which is constructed on two sides. In the middle of the two data pages, the hinge region 22 is arranged, in which, after the completion of the identification document, the seam runs, which is indicated here by means of a dashed line 20. Such a two-sided insert sheet has two edges 25 opposite the seam and 25 'up. The remaining components of such an insert sheet, which were explained with reference to Figure 1 a, have been omitted in Figure 1 b for clarity. A two-sided insert sheet results in four pages after being sewn into the identification document, ie, two front and two back sides, while the one-sided insert sheet shown with reference to Figure 1a gives two sides (a front and a back side).

An insert sheet generally consists of several layers of paper and / or plastic which, on the one hand, offer a high degree of protection against forgery and, on the other hand, provide protection for the personal data placed on the attachment sheet. Such insert sheet is also referred to as personalization page. The data entered in the personalization page can be given not only the name or the address as well as personal numbering but also the date of birth, the place of birth, a signature or other personal data. The data contained on the insert sheet may be printed and / or lasered. In the case of laser scanning, the data are written into the finished laminated sheet by means of a laser. The laser intensity is controlled so that discoloration takes place in the interior of the data sheet, ie in a paper or plastic layer, so that the data inscribed by means of laser become visible. External plastic layers are not damaged during this process and remain smooth. In a further embodiment, the laser power can also be adjusted so that the top layer of the insert sheet is changed during writing and a tactile microrelief is formed. Furthermore, in the upper layer of the insert sheet, an optically effective relief may be arranged which cooperates with the underlying printed or laser-induced inscription.

Evident is the outer envelope or lid 30, which consists of paper and / or cardboard and / or plastic. Arranged in the envelope 30 is firstly the insert sheet 10 according to the invention and further book pages 32, wherein the insert sheet 10 and the further pages 32 are connected to the envelope 30 by means of a seam. The seam, not shown here, is arranged in the hinge region 22 of the insert sheet 10. In the illustrated embodiment for an inventive identification document, a one-sided insert sheet is arranged in front of the remaining data pages of the identification document. The insert sheet can also be arranged between the other data pages 32 of the book-type identification document become. In another embodiment, a two-sided insert sheet, as shown with reference to Figure 1 b, are used in an identification document according to the invention.

In Figure 3, an insert sheet according to the invention is shown schematically in cross section. The insert sheet 10 consists of a middle layer of a thermoplastic elastomer 40 and one each above and below another arranged layer 42, 43. The other layers are made of high temperature resistant plastic. The cross section was taken along the line A-A shown in FIG. 1a. The upper and lower further layer 42, 43 extends in the direction of expansion of the insert sheet 50 from the side edge 25, which is opposite to the seam, to the hinge region 22. However, the two further layers do not protrude into the hinge region 22. Only the centrally arranged layer of thermoplastic elastomer 40 extends from the seam side opposite the edge 25 to the hinge area 22 to the side edge 24, which is located on the hinge portion 22.

As the thermoplastic elastomer, thermoplastic polyurethane (TPU) may preferably be used, but other thermoplastic elastomers may be used. For this purpose, the entire group of thermoplastic polyurethanes, the group of thermoplastic copolyesters and the group of thermoplastic polyether block amides are available. Polycarbonate (PC), polyethersulfone (PES), polyetheretherketone (PEEK), polyphenylene oxide (PPO), polyphenylene sulfide (PPS), polyethylene terephthalate (PET), polybutylene terephthalate (PBT), polyoxymethylene (POM), polysulfone (PSU), for example, can be used as high temperature stable plastics. Polyetherimide (PEI) or polyamide (PA) can be applied. These high-temperature-stable plastics can be used individually or in combination as further layers 42, 43.

Die Gestaltung, dass das Einlageblatt im Scharnierbereich und in den übrigen Bereichen die gleiche Dicke aufweist, gewährleistet eine größere Fälschungssicherheit und eine erhöhte Festigkeit des Einlageblattes im Scharnierbereich 22.Further exemplary embodiments of an insert sheet according to the invention are illustrated with reference to FIGS. 4 and 5 on the basis of sections of cross sections along the line AA from FIG. 1 a. FIG. 4 shows a layer of thermoplastic elastomer 140 arranged centrally in the insert sheet body and the further layers 144 and 142 and 145 and 143 lying on both sides. In the hinge region 22, the layer of thermoplastic elastomer 140 is thickened such that the insert sheet 10 in the hinge region 22 has the same thickness along the direction 51 perpendicular to the sheet plane 50 as in the other areas of the insert sheet. The respectively on the the same side of the layer of thermoplastic elastomer 140 arranged further layers 142 and 144 and 143 and 145 extend to the hinge portion 22 and the same extent to this area. The further layers, which are arranged on one side of the layer of the thermoplastic elastomer, thus end at one and the same edge. The design that the insert sheet in the hinge area and in the other areas has the same thickness, ensures greater security against counterfeiting and increased strength of the insert sheet in the hinge area 22nd

In the exemplary embodiment illustrated with reference to FIG. 5 a, which again shows a central arrangement of the layer of thermoplastic elastomer 240 and has on each side two further layers 242 and 244 and 245 and 243 lying above it, the further layers extend on one side The two layers 242 and 244 as well as 243 and 245 arranged on one side of the layer of thermoplastic elastomer do not therefore have a common end edge. This is advantageous to avoid that the stress is concentrated too much at a common edge in a bending stress.

The distance d of two parallel edges 242a and 244a of the associated further layers 242 and 244 or the distance d of the parallel edges 245a and 243a of the associated further layers 245 and 243 is greater than 500 μm, preferably greater than 1 mm. The two parallel edges 242a and 244a of this embodiment are also shown with reference to Figure 5b in a view from above. Analogously to FIG. 1, the seam 20 is arranged in the hinge region 22 after the completion of the identification document. This is indicated in FIG. 5 b by means of a dashed line. Furthermore, the edges 242a of the upper further layer 242 are indicated by a solid line and 244a of the underlying further layer by a dotted line. The edges 242a and 244a are parallel to each other and parallel to the side 24 of the insert sheet 10 which is closest to the seam.

Diese Ausführungsform bietet neben der Verteilung von Spannungen bei Biegen ein zusätzliches Sicherheitsmerkmal, wenn diese Kantengestaltung etwa visuell erkennbar ist.FIG. 5 c shows a further exemplary embodiment for the course of the edges of the further layers, wherein the edges and the seam area are identified analogously to FIG. 5 b. The edges 242a 'and 244a' in this case are not parallel to each other and also not parallel to the side of the insert sheet, but have a shape comparable to the legs of an isosceles triangle, wherein the apex is approximately in the middle of page 24. In this case, the layers 242 and 244 lying on one side of the layer of thermoplastic elastomer are formed with edges 242a 'and 244a' in the shape of the legs of an isosceles triangle with opposite opening angles, so that lying in the outer lying away from the apex lying areas the upper layer continues to project towards the hinge area and, in the area around the vertex, the lower layer projects further towards the hinge area. This embodiment, in addition to the distribution of stresses in bending an additional security feature when this edge design is about visually recognizable.

The same additional advantage is offered by an exemplary embodiment, which is illustrated with reference to FIG. 5 d. Here, the edges 242a "and 244a" are formed substantially parallel to one another and to the side 24 of the insert sheet. However, they are designed with a wavy shape. Other forms, such. B. Zackenformen are also conceivable. The mean distance d 'denotes the distance which the center lines have the same values as the distances d explained with reference to FIG. 5 a.

In the layer of thermoplastic elastomer, a transponder coil is embedded, which is used for non-contact transmission of data for a microchip arranged in the insert sheet and is electrically connected thereto. The transponder coil is embedded in a region outside the hinge region in the layer of thermoplastic elastomer.

In further embodiments of the invention, several layers of thermoplastic elastomer may be provided within a liner sheet according to the invention. The layers of thermoplastic elastomer are separated in this case by intermediate layers. Furthermore, more than two further layers may be provided on each side of the thermoplastic elastomer.

Advantageously, the at least one layer of the thermoplastic elastomer in the hinge region has a layer thickness between 400 .mu.m and 800 .mu.m , preferably between 500 .mu.m and 800 .mu.m . Other layers of high-temperature stable plastic, layer thicknesses of between 20 μ m and 500 μ m, preferably between 100 μ m and 500 μ m, most preferably between 300 μ m and having 500 μ m. In the remaining area of the insert sheet, which does not belong to the hinge area, the thickness of the at least one layer of thermoplastic elastomer is between 20 .mu.m and 300 .mu.m , preferably between 50 .mu.m and 200 .mu.m . The thickness is the extent of the layers along the direction 51 perpendicular to the sheet plane 50 of the insert sheet according to the invention.

The method according to the invention for producing an insert sheet for a book-type identification document will now be described below with reference to FIGS. 6, 7 and 8. Figures 6 and 7 show first the preparation of the layer of thermoplastic elastomer, which has a greater thickness in the hinge region than in the other areas. The method steps illustrated with reference to FIGS. 6, 7 and 8 are again shown schematically in cross-section. Furthermore, the method is based on a single-sided insert sheet, which is produced as a double benefit. It can be used analogously for two-sided inserts or single or multiple benefits.

Referring to Figure 6a, further layers of thermoplastic elastomer 340 'and 340 "are disposed above and below a layer of thermoplastic elastomer 340. These further layers of thermoplastic elastomer 340' and 340" are disposed in the region in which later the hinge area is to be created with a reinforcement. 6 b shows the direct arrangement of the three layers of thermoplastic elastomer 340, 340 'and 340 "one above the other, for better fixation these layers can be stapled on one another.

In diesem Ausführungsbeispiel wurde die Schicht aus thermoplastischem Elastomer 340 als Formteil durch Extrusion hergestellt.FIG. 7 diagrammatically shows a further exemplary embodiment of a layer of thermoplastic elastomer 340 in cross-section. In this embodiment, the layer of thermoplastic elastomer 340 was manufactured as a molded part by extrusion.

As already explained above, a transponder coil, which allows non-contact data transmission, is embedded in a layer of thermoplastic elastomer. Such a coil can be applied, for example by means of printing, spraying or by other application methods, to a layer of thermoplastic elastomer. In a further method step, a further layer of thermoplastic elastomer is laminated, so that both layers of thermoplastic elastomer with interposed embedded transponder coil the layer of thermoplastic elastomer 340, as shown in Figure 7, form.

The further method steps for producing the insert sheet according to the invention will now be explained with reference to FIG. 8. First, the further layers 242, 244, 245 and 243 for the first use and the further layers 242 ', 244', 245 'and 243' for the further use in the desired order, as shown in Figure 8 a, one above the other. In a preferred embodiment, the further layers 242 and 244 and 245 and 243 as well as 242 'and 244' as well as 245 'and 243' located on one side of the layer of thermoplastic elastomer are then stapled one over the other, so that the respective layers slip against each other becomes. This is illustrated by FIG. 8b. In this case, the further layer 242, 242 ', 243 and 243' which in each case lies outside in the future insert sheet projects slightly beyond the respective other layer on the side where the hinge area is to join in the future. In the following process step illustrated with reference to FIG. 8 c, the layer of thermoplastic elastomer is arranged between the further layers such that the further layers extend where the layer of thermoplastic elastomer 340 has a smaller thickness. In the central reinforcing region, which in the future is intended to be the hinge region of the insert sheet of the thermoplastic elastomer according to the invention, the further layers 242, 244, 245, 243, 242 ', 244', 245 'and 243' are not arranged. Only the protruding piece of the respective outer further layers rests on the area of the reinforced layer of thermoplastic elastomer. In a preferred embodiment, the layers arranged on top of each other can be stapled first.

In the following, all layers are laminated. As a result of the intractable fusion of the layers with one another, the initially projecting end of the respectively outer layers 242, 243 and 242 'and 243' is also connected to the remaining layers in such a way that a smooth surface is formed in these regions. The laminated semi-finished product for the insert sheet according to the invention is shown with reference to FIG. 8d.

Subsequently, in a further process step, the surfaces provided for the insert sheet according to the invention are punched out of the semifinished product illustrated with reference to FIG. 8 d or the two benefits are separated from one another in a different manner. In the embodiment shown here in the joint processing of two As shown in FIG. 8 e, the use of one-sided insert sheets in each case produces two single-use inserts, each of which has only one layer of thermoplastic elastomer 240 and 240 'in each hinge area 22.

Nahtbereich hinaus. For producing an identification document according to the invention, the insert sheet together with the other data pages and the envelope is now assembled in such a way that all pages have the correct sequence. The insert sheet is placed such that the hinge area is in the area of the future seam. After fixing the document components they are sewn together. The seam then runs in the hinge region of the insert sheet, ie in the region which has only the thermoplastic elastomer. It can then be connected to other process steps to the production of the identification document. On the one hand, the data pages and the envelope can still be cut to their specified dimensions. Furthermore, a protective layer, for example made of plastic or linen, which may have additional printing on the envelope can still be glued. Furthermore, a fold line is provided along the seam, so that the book is also folded at the predetermined location. In a one-sided embodiment of the insert sheet is the hinge portion 22, as shown in Figure 2, on the one hand something about the kink or seam area addition.
