Description

DOMAINE TECHNIQUETECHNICAL AREA

The present invention relates to a device for protecting the crown, and more generally any external control member, of a wristwatch when said crown is not in use, and conversely to allow it to be easily disengaged when it is desired to make use of it.

ARRIERE PLAN TECHNOLOGIQUEBACKGROUND TECHNOLOGY

Devices are already known that make it possible to protect and hide a crown when it is not in use, which corresponds to the longest period of use of a wristwatch. These devices are provided for essentially technical reasons, for example to avoid triggering by triggering the unexpected engagement of a function, or worse the deterioration of the winding stem.

The best known means is to provide on the middle, on both sides of the crown, lugs extending to the crown head leaving only a portion of the notched lathe visible. A device of this type appears clearly in the figures of the patent CH 515,541 even if the protection of the crown is not the characteristic of the invention concerned.

In addition to the unsightly appearance, this solution has the disadvantage of making handling of the crown difficult, especially in traction.

The patent CH 567 300 discloses a locking device of the pushers and the crown of a chronograph wristwatch by means of a cover attached to a rotating bezel having an extension extending beyond the middle part and having a corresponding vertical and cylindrical wall substantially at the height of the middle part. This solution is satisfactory for the desired purpose, but has the disadvantage of making the rotating bezel totally unusable for other usual functions of a rotating bezel.

The patent CH 262 846 describes a wristwatch box having an outer circle carrying the handles and a movement holder articulated to this outer circle via the bar of one of these handles, this outer circle having a crown in which the crown can come and stay in a position of use. Movement and dressing are in this document manipulable in rotation outside the plane of the watch.

RESUME DE L'INVENTIONSUMMARY OF THE INVENTION

The present invention therefore aims at overcoming the disadvantages of the aforementioned prior art by providing a crown guard and / or wristwatch device which completely releases the control members when they are to be used, and conversely which protects them effectively. in times of non-use, without impairing the accessibility to other control organs, such as a rotating bezel.

For this purpose the invention relates to a wristwatch according to claim 1 of the patent.

According to a first embodiment, the cover is secured to an operating ring mounted to friction in an annular groove formed in the base of the middle part being held in place by a base provided with legs screwed into the horns. This construction has the advantage of requiring very few modifications to the dressing of any round wristwatch.

According to another embodiment, the movement is housed in a monocoque housing, and the bottom and the horns together form a support in which the housing can pivot to bring the crown into a cache formed in a horn. This construction also has the advantage of practically not modifying the external appearance of the wristwatch and rendering the presence of any control member virtually unsuspected.

DESCRIPTION DETAILLEE DE L'INVENTIONDETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE INVENTION

Un premier mode de réalisation est décrit en se référant essentiellement aux figures 1 à 8.A first embodiment is described with reference essentially to the Figures 1 to 8 .

La carrure 9 est également pourvue de quatre cornes 17, 17a, dont la première fonction est de permettre la fixation de brins de bracelet 20.To the figure 1 , a top view of a wristwatch 1 comprising a movement 3 and a winding stem 6 (both visible on the section of the figure 5 ), the winding stem 6 having at its end a ring 5 positioned at 4 o'clock. The movement 3, which drives in a known manner needles of hours 2a, 2b minutes and seconds 2c above a dial 11, is housed in a casing constituted by a middle 9 closed dial side 11 by an ice 12 maintained by the upper part of the middle part 9, forming the bezel 13. The middle part 9 is also provided with four horns 17, 17a, the first function of which is to allow the attachment of bracelet strands 20.

In the example shown, the middle part 9 and the bezel 13 form a single piece, but it is obvious that this part of the covering could be formed by two different parts, the telescope 13 being able to be, if desired, a rotating bezel.

The caseband 9 is closed at its bottom by a separate bottom 15, the seal being provided for example by interposition of a seal of the "sanfil" type. The bottom 15 is for example screwed into a threading at the base of the middle part or snapped into it. As we see, on the cuts of Figures 5 to 8 the caseband 9 comprises at its base an annular groove 29 in which is positioned, a ring 21 having an extension forming the cover 7. The ring 21 is mounted frictionally in the annular groove 29 having at its base a housing provided for a seal 31 for example formed by a PTFE ring.

The ring 21 and the seal 31 are held in place by a washer 26 bearing on the edges of the annular groove 29 and having four fixing lugs. 16 extending under the horns 17, 17a to allow attachment of said washer 26 by means of screws 19.

In a variant shown in figure 9 it can be seen that the bottom 15 and the washer 26 form a single piece, ensuring both the closing of the casing and the retention in place of the ring 21 and the seal 31 by means of the screws 19 passing through the tabs 16.

En position fermée, l'extrémité du grand bras 8a épouse le contour d'une corne 17a.In the example shown in figure 1 , the cover 7 has an open L-shape whose large arm 8a completely covers the head of the crown 5 leaving its exposed edges, and releasing it entirely in the open position shown in dotted lines. In the closed position, the end of the large arm 8a follows the outline of a horn 17a.

According to a variant represented in figure 2 , the cover 7 may further comprise an upper closure element 8b which completely masks the view of the ring 5 in the closed position. It can also be provided a lower closure element (not shown) so that the cover 7 has the shape of a completely enveloping shell.

The cup of the figure 5 , carried out along the axis of the winding stem 6, shows that the ring 21 has a thinned portion 22 on an arc sufficient to allow the clearance of the cover 7 between the closed position and the open position.

The cup of the figure 6 shows that the device may further comprise a ratchet system 28 cooperating with bosses 30 formed in the upper part of the ring 21, on a circular arc corresponding at least to the clearance of the cover 7 between the closed position and the open position . In the example shown the pawl is positioned at 7 o'clock, but it is obvious that other locations are possible, and that we can have more than one ratchet 28.

In the cup of the figure 8 performed at 9 o'clock, it can be seen that the annular groove 29 can be partially open towards the outside, the operating ring 21 then being provided with notches 23 making it possible in particular to facilitate the maneuvering of the cover 7.

La deuxième partie est constituée par un support 10 réalisé en une seule pièce formée par le fond 15 reliant les quatre cornes 17, 17a permettant l'attache des brins de bracelet 20.Referring now to Figures 10 and 11 a second embodiment is described below in which the cover 7 is fixed and the ring 5 is rotatable in the plane of the watch, thanks to a design of the two-piece clothing. A first part comprises a housing 4 closed by an ice 12 to accommodate the movement 3, the sidewall 14 of said housing being traversed by the winding stem 6 at the end of which is fixed the crown 5. The second part consists of a support 10 made in one piece formed by the bottom 15 connecting the four horns 17, 17a for attaching the bracelet strands 20.

Said support 10 is provided to receive the housing 4, the assembly being carried out with a greasy friction to allow the rotation of said housing, by means of notches 24 on the sidewall 14 of the housing 4, or on the telescope 13, as shown in FIG. figure 10 .

By rotating the housing 4 in the clockwise direction brings the head of the crown 5 under the large arm 18a of the cover 7, the edge of the crown remaining visible. According to a variant represented at figure 11 , the cover 7 is formed by a recess 18b in the horn 17a, which makes it possible to mask the crown 5 almost completely.

The above description relates to embodiments in which the ring 5 or the cover 7 are positioned substantially at 4 o'clock, but it is obvious that other choices are possible depending on the design of the dressing. Similarly, it was considered that the cover 7 was used to mask and protect a crown 5, but this control member could just as well be one or more other control members, such as pushers.

In the foregoing description, and particularly in the second embodiment, it is possible to question the convenience of reading the time on a dial whose mark at 3 o'clock is not facing the crown 5 in the position of non-use where it is covered by the cache 7.

A titre d'exemple, dans le brevet CH 661 404 , la couronne est positionnée à 9 h.In the first embodiment it can be said that all wristwatches do not have a crown positioned at 3 o'clock. For example, in the patent CH 661 404 , the crown is positioned at 9 o'clock.

In the second embodiment, it is true that the rotation of the housing 4 shifts the hourly marks one step in the clockwise direction. This defect can easily be corrected by shifting the marking of the hourly indexes by one step counter-clockwise and modifying the time reference accordingly.

En d'autres termes, par l'impression de la marque et de chiffres et/ou d'index sur le cadran, il est toujours possible de choisir la référence temporelle en retirant par là-même à la couronne sa référence traditionnelle à 3 h.In other words, by printing the mark and numbers and / or indexes on the dial, it is always possible to choose the time reference by removing the crown at its traditional reference at 3 o'clock .

Other modifications of the crown guard which has just been described may be provided by those skilled in the art without departing from the scope of the present invention as defined by the appended claims.
