Definitions
- the invention relates to a snowboard binding according to the preamble of claim 1.
- Such a bond is from the US 2001/052688 A1 and the US 2002/190502 A1 known.
- These known bindings have a base member attachable to a top of a snowboard. Attached to the base element is an instep element which partially overlaps the snowboard boot.
- the instep element is slidable along at least one arcuate path for adjustment of binding and initiation to the size of the snowboard boot.
- the instep element is not displaceable but at best flexible due to an intrinsic elasticity of their material.
- This binding has a base element to be fastened on the surface of the snowboard, an instep element which is attached to it and which partially overlaps the upper side of a snowboard boot, and a heel element which is pivotably articulated to the base element and supports the rear side of the snowboard boot.
- the instep element is large area that it covers the snowboard boots in the toe area and the instep area.
- the instep element is adjustable in length Belt, namely a toe strap and a instep strap attached to the base member.
- the boot In the closed position of the binding, the boot is thus held between the base element, the instep element and the heel element.
- the adaptation of the binding to boots of different sizes on the one hand via a length adjustment of the instep element holding belt as well as on the adjustable position of the pivotal heel element, which is fastened by a fastened in the front region of the base element, the heel element behind embracing, length-adjustable belt.
- a similar snowboard binding is also from the US 5,556,123 A1 known, where the fixation of the heel element is designed differently.
- bindings are also commonly referred to as "soft binding” because they are used in conjunction with relatively soft, flexible boots (so-called soft boots) that provide the rider with relatively great flexibility of movement both forward and sideways.
- soft binding By said adjustment of instep and heel member, flexibility, i. the possible range of motion, be adjusted so that the driver has as desired a large or small range of motion of the boot in the binding.
- the object of the invention is therefore to improve the snowboard binding of the type mentioned in that increased flexibility for movements of the boot in the binding is created and in particular for a lateral kinking or rolling of the boot in the binding.
- the basic principle of the invention is that the instep element is displaceable along at least one arcuate path and thus participates in the lateral kinking or rolling movement of the boot.
- the arcuate path is formed by at least one strap, preferably by two straps, namely a toe strap and a instep strap, which engage and support the instep element externally. On this belt and the instep element cooperating guide means are provided which delimit the arcuate path.
- the guide means consist of slot-like guide openings in the belt and a guide pin on the instep element, wherein the guide pin passes through the guide openings of the belt and is guided on the side walls thereof.
- damping means are present at the ends of the guide openings, which damp a movement near the respective limit position.
- damping means are preferably narrowings of the guideway whose width is smaller than the diameter of the pin or inserts made of elastic material.
- the pins at their free ends on the guide openings cross-thickened head, so that there is always a secure connection between the instep element and the belt is given.
- the relative displaceability between instep element and belt can also be locked.
- a toothing between the head of the respective pin and the opposite this outside of the belt is provided. By turning the pin by 90 °, the teeth can be aligned parallel to each other and grab or stand perpendicular to each other, so that the tips of the teeth can slide on each other.
- Fig. 1 shows a schematic side view of the snowboard binding 1, which has to be fastened on the surface of a snowboard, not shown basic element 2, which has on its longitudinal sides in each case a substantially vertically upwardly directed side wall 3, which is part of the base element.
- a non-descript heel element 4 is pivotally arranged, which can be pivoted to open the binding to the rear and to close the binding to the front, where it in a known manner (see. DE 44 35 113 C1 ) is fixable in the closed position.
- the binding on an instep element 5 which is here formed over a large area and the instep and the toe area of a boot 20 covered and is adaptable to the contour of its contour due to its internal flexibility.
- the instep element 5 is held on two arcuate belts, namely a instep strap 6 and a toe strap 7, the ends of which are fastened respectively to the base element 2 and more precisely to its side walls 3, namely to pivot bearings 8 and 9, respectively.
- the two belts 6 and 7 are made of flexible, bendable material, but they have a high tensile strength in the longitudinal direction.
- the belts 6 and 7 engage over the instep element 5 on the outside thereof.
- the instep element 5 is displaceable relative to the arcuate path formed by the belts 6 and 7.
- the instep element is fastened to the belts 6 and 7 via guide means 10 and 11.
- These guide means consist in the embodiment shown here from slot-like guide openings 12 and 13 in the belt 6 and 7 and a fastened to the instep element 5 guide pin 16, 17, which passes through said guide openings 12 and 13 and at its free end a thickened head 16 ', which is greater than the width of the guide openings 11 and 12 and thus overlaps.
- the pin 16, 17 is thus displaceable along the guide openings 11 and 12 so that the fixedly coupled to the pins 16, 17 Ristelement can follow this movement, which is formed by the arcuate path.
- toothed belts 21 and 22 are provided in combination with fastening means 23 and 24, which are attached to the belt 6 and 7, respectively.
- the toothed belts 21 and 22 are introduced into this fastening device 23 and 24 and fixed there by positive connection.
- Fig. 2 the instep element 5 is shown in a neutral middle position.
- the guide pins 16 and 17 are respectively in the middle of the guide openings 12 and 13, respectively.
- Fig. 3 the instep element 5 is shown in a pivoting position.
- the pins 16 and 17 have come respectively at one end of the guide openings 12 and 13 to stop.
- the respective limit positions can also be asymmetrical, ie that the pivoting movement of the instep element in one direction is greater than the other.
- the displacement of the pins 16 and 17 on the front strap 7 and the rear strap 6 can be different sizes, since the instep element 5 is flexible in itself and thus can follow deformation of the boot 20 and since the lateral displacement in the instep area can be larger than in the toe area.
- Fig. 4 shows a plan view of a section of Guide means 10 with the guide opening 12 and the guide pin 16 inserted therein damping means to dampen the pivoting movement and to avoid a hard stop the limit positions, damping means are provided.
- these damping means consist of a tapered constriction 15 of the guide opening 12, wherein the width of the constriction decreases continuously towards the end and is smaller than the diameter of the pin 16. If the pin 16 slides into this constriction 15, the constriction 15 must be widened which, in tensioned belt 6, causes mechanical deformation work which consumes energy and opposes the movement of pin 16 along restriction 15 which increases towards the end of throat 15. At the same time, the friction forces between the pin 16 and the wall of the constriction 15 increase, which dampens the movement.
- an insert 25 is provided, which is inserted into the guide opening 12 in the region of its end.
- the insert 25 is made of rubber-elastic material.
- the insert 25 increasingly deforms and thus forms an increasing resistance to a further displacement of the pin 16, so that likewise the damping effect is achieved.
- the two described damping means of the constriction 15 and the insert 25 can also be combined with one another, that is, they can be mounted simultaneously in the region of one or both ends of the guide opening 12. It is also possible to attach one or both damping means only on one side of the guide opening.
- the insert 25 may also be designed interchangeable, so that the driver can optionally use an insert with different damping characteristics.
- the relative displaceability between the instep element 5 and the respective belt 6 and / or 7 can also be locked or deactivated.
- a transverse to the longitudinal direction of the toothing 26 is provided in addition to the guide opening 12 and a corresponding counter-toothing 27 on the underside of the thickened head 16 'of the pin 16.
- the pin together with the head is then fixed so that it is rotated by at least 90 ° can be.
- the teeth 26 and 27 are aligned at right angles to each other, so that the corresponding teeth can not interlock, but rather their tips slide on each other, so that the slidability is ensured. This can also be signaled to the driver by an arrow 28 on the top of the head.
- Fig. 5 shows a section along the line xx the Fig. 4 ,
- the pin 16 is fastened by fastening means 18 on the instep element 5. It can for example be riveted or screwed.
- the pin 16 has a widened head 16 'which engages over the guide opening 12 of the belt 6 and thus prevents involuntary release of the instep element 5 from the belt 6.
- the toothing 26, 27 described is clearly visible, and here also the pin 16 together with the head 16 'is aligned so that a sliding is possible.
- the guide means 10 and 11 can also be designed differently, for example, a dovetail guide, a guide with double U-profile or other known in mechanical guides can be used.
- Fig. 1 to 3 are each per belt 6 and 7 three guides 10 and 11 attached laterally on both sides and in the middle.
- the guide only on both sides of the instep element 5 or only in the middle of the instep element 5 or only on one side or on only one side and the middle.
- Other combinations are conceivable in which, for example, only one guide is attached to the front toe strap 7, while two or three guides are provided on the rear instep strap 6.
- the instep element 5 can be held only by a single belt.
- two belts 6 and 7 it is also possible to divide the instep element 5 into two elements, each of which is then fastened to one of the belts 6 or 7. It may also be sufficient if only the attached to the rear instep element according to the invention is displaceable, while the front element remains immovable, since the movement in the instep area is more important than in the toe area.

Abstract
Description
The invention relates to a snowboard binding according to the preamble of

The above bindings are also commonly referred to as "soft binding" because they are used in conjunction with relatively soft, flexible boots (so-called soft boots) that provide the rider with relatively great flexibility of movement both forward and sideways. By said adjustment of instep and heel member, flexibility, i. the possible range of motion, be adjusted so that the driver has as desired a large or small range of motion of the boot in the binding.
In a lateral bending of the shin and thus the shaft of the boot but the problem arises that the instep element, which rests relatively firmly on the outer top of the boot in the toe and instep limits this lateral kinking, especially when the instep element, such as in the above-mentioned prior art, is formed over a large area and largely covers the forefoot and the instep area of the boot and adapted to the contour. Even if the instep element is made of flexible material, this configuration will still cause lateral movement the boot is severely hampered, which is a disadvantage, since with this type of binding, the high flexibility of movement to the front and to the side is desirable.
The object of the invention is therefore to improve the snowboard binding of the type mentioned in that increased flexibility for movements of the boot in the binding is created and in particular for a lateral kinking or rolling of the boot in the binding.
This object is achieved by the features specified in
The basic principle of the invention is that the instep element is displaceable along at least one arcuate path and thus participates in the lateral kinking or rolling movement of the boot.
The arcuate path is formed by at least one strap, preferably by two straps, namely a toe strap and a instep strap, which engage and support the instep element externally. On this belt and the instep element cooperating guide means are provided which delimit the arcuate path.
In a specific embodiment, the guide means consist of slot-like guide openings in the belt and a guide pin on the instep element, wherein the guide pin passes through the guide openings of the belt and is guided on the side walls thereof.
In a lateral rolling movement thus the belt remain substantially in the same position, while the instep element is displaceable relative to the belt and thus in a broader sense, a pivoting movement about a in Area of the sole of the foot or even underlying pivot axis can perform.
According to an advantageous development of the invention damping means are present at the ends of the guide openings, which damp a movement near the respective limit position. These damping means are preferably narrowings of the guideway whose width is smaller than the diameter of the pin or inserts made of elastic material. For safe guidance, the pins at their free ends on the guide openings cross-thickened head, so that there is always a secure connection between the instep element and the belt is given.
According to an advantageous embodiment of the invention, the relative displaceability between instep element and belt can also be locked. For this purpose, a toothing between the head of the respective pin and the opposite this outside of the belt is provided. By turning the pin by 90 °, the teeth can be aligned parallel to each other and grab or stand perpendicular to each other, so that the tips of the teeth can slide on each other.

Next, the binding on an
The
The
To adjust the length of the two
