Definitions
- the invention relates to intermediates and a new process for the preparation of benzocycloheptene C.
- the process according to the invention for the preparation of its new intermediates starts from inexpensive starting materials, provides the intermediates in high yields and high purity, without chromatographic purification steps and permits large-scale production.
- Compounds of the general formula A are compounds with strong antiestrogenic activity. These are selective estrogens, the effect of which is tissue-selective. In particular, the estrogenic effect occurs on the bone.
- the advantage of this class of compounds is that there is no or only an extremely minor effect on the uterus and in the liver.
- the compounds can also have antiestrogenic activity, which can be demonstrated, for example, in the anti-uterus growth test or in tumor models.
- SERMs Selective Estrogen Receiver Modulators
- SK, R1, and R2 stand for special side chain residues, which are specified in the abovementioned application.
- the object of the present invention is to provide a more efficient process for the preparation of the compound of the formula C (example 9 in WO 00/03979).
- the new process according to the invention for the preparation of the compound C is distinguished by the fact that the number of stages to the central intermediate stage B has been considerably reduced. The sequence linked to the end product C has remained unchanged.
- Another advantage of the method according to the invention is that the products are obtained in high purities without chromatographic purification steps.
