Abstract

A device for holding printed products fed in variations of at least collecting and collating feed modes. The device includes a holding element for holding products fed in different feed modes. The holding element, in turn, includes a deflection element which, in a printed product transfer region, is effective to deflect printed products being fed away from those already fed to the holding element.

Description

The invention relates to a device for receiving printed products according to claim 1.

For producing a printed end product from a plurality of individual printed products, it is known to place a plurality of centrally folded printed products astride a saddle-like support. This manufacturing mode will be referred to as collecting mode in the following. Furthermore, it is known to introduce a plurality of folded or unfolded printed products in pocket-shaped receiving elements so that they come to rest next to each other. This is referred to below as collating. Finally, it is also known to introduce one or more folded or unfolded printed products into a folded and opened printed product, which is referred to below as plugging. To produce a complex end-of-print product, eg a newspaper or a magazine, it is desirable to selectively insert, collate and / or collect individual printed products in any order. For the insertion of printed products into each other, for example, WO 98/33656 discloses a method in which folded printed products are inserted in a defined manner into one another or into a folded main product. The main product is located in a pocket-like receiving element. From EP-A 0771754 a device for bringing together printed products is known, taken in the printed products of pocket-like or in cross-section L-shaped receiving elements become. The receiving elements have a flat support element, which is inclined slightly from the vertical, as well as an angled bottom element, to which the printed products abut with one of its edges. A horizontally extending upper part of the support element forms a support on which printed products can be placed astride. This upper part and the interface between the floor and support elements define a feed plane into which printed products are fed. For combined gathering and collecting, the lower part of the support element adjoining the bottom element is designed so as to be pivotable about the boundary line between bottom and support element. Since products received during pivoting can be moved out of the feed plane, it is possible with this support element to first collect a number of products and then to collect a number of products. However, it is not possible to bring more than one other printed product to a previously defined location after collection by collecting or collating. For a second additional printed product would encounter when feeding edge to edge on a first other printed product and then randomly either slip right or left next to the first other printed product or even fall out of the receiving element.

Furthermore, when collecting and collating printed products with known receiving elements, there is the difficulty that printed products of different formats can be aligned at most along a common side edge. The two perpendicular to the side edge extending edges of the collected or compiled products are determined by the position of the bottom element or the support. The removal of a finished compiled final product such that all sub-products are detected, therefore, especially when using partial products of very different format difficult. Another device which is used to print products and represents the closest prior art is disclosed in EP 0 354 343.

The invention is therefore based on the object to provide a device for receiving printed products available, which can be used without adjustments to the receiving element itself for the production of printing end products with a variety of possible variations. In particular, a high degree of flexibility should be achievable with regard to the formats of the printed products used and / or the order of the printed products supplied, at least in the feeding modes "collecting" and "collating".

The object is achieved by a device having the features of claim 1. Advantageous developments are illustrated in the dependent claims, the description and the drawings.

The rejection element according to the invention, which is assigned to a receiving element for printed products at least in a transfer region, can deflect a printed product fed to the receiving element from the already received printed products. The supplied printed product is thus positioned in a defined manner. The printed product is preferably deflected in the "collating" feed mode so that at least part of the printed product fed in is positioned on the side of the printed products already taken away from the support element. In the "collect" feeding mode, part of the folded and opened printed product is next to an already stored product in Position while the other part is placed on the other side of the support member.

Receiving element and rejection element are designed so that they are moved at the same speed and direction of movement, at least in a transfer area in which individual printed products are transferred to a receiving element, hereinafter referred to as the removal speed and direction. The receiving elements are preferably moved past different feed stations, where each individual printed products are delivered to the receiving elements. The rejection elements can be arranged in the region of these feed stations and can only be moved there with the receiving elements. Alternatively, each receiving element can be associated with its own rejection element, which is constantly moved along with it, preferably by being attached to it.

Preferably, the rejection element is additionally movable in a direction perpendicular to the conveying direction of the receiving elements, so that it can optionally be pulled out after depositing a printed product deposited on the overlay. In this way, it is achieved that a subsequently deposited further printed product is again exposed to the deflecting effect of the rejection element. For this purpose, the rejection element is preferably movable parallel to the support or pivotable about an axis extending substantially in the conveying direction. Another variant provides that the rejection element extends only over a part of the width of the receiving element and stored printed products are pushed from this, provided they are still astride the rejection element. This can done by a slider or by pivoting the receiving element about a substantially extending in the conveying direction axis, so that the prints, reiproducts are moved to the Abweiselement remote end of the receiving element. For this purpose, the receiving element at this end preferably has a stop, which is located in the region of the support and / or the bottom part or of the support element.

The inventive combination of the receiving element with a rejection element can be realized in an advantageous manner printing end products with any arrangement of their individual components. The invention can be easily integrated into one of the known devices for bringing together flat products, for example as known from EP-A 0771754. The printed products can be supplied to the receiving elements in a known manner, for example as described in EP-A 0771754 or in the non-prepublished Swiss Patent Application No. 2000 0414/00 or in CH 689864. To open folded printed products before collecting, for example, a gripper transporter according to the non-prepublished patent applications Nos. 2000 0416/00 and 2000 0417/00 can be used.

According to a further embodiment of the invention, the support is designed to pivot downwards. By swiveling down the support, the printed products supplied in the collection mode are largely independent of the format placed on the bottom element. Collected and collected printed products are therefore automatically aligned along the ground plane and preferably also along a common side edge. Removing the Printing end product by simultaneously taking the partial products is therefore particularly easy to adjust without having to adapt a transfer device to different formats. On the rejection element can be omitted in this case.

An dieser Kante 21 können sie zum Wegtransport oder zur Weiterverarbeitung aufgegriffen werden.1a and 1b show a receiving element 1 according to the invention and a rejection element 5 according to the invention in two different views in the conveying direction W or perpendicular thereto. The support element 2 is slightly inclined from the vertical, so that the bottom element 3 and the support element 2 form a pocket-like receptacle or contact surface for flat products. The upper edge of the support element 2 forms a support 4, on the folded printed products 8 can be placed astride. With the receiving element 1 printed products can therefore both collected, as here the printed products 6 and 7, as well as collected, as here the printed products 8 and the newly added printed product 9. The order and the number in one certain mode supplied products can be freely selected. The lower edge 2a of the support member 2 is slightly inclined from the horizontal, so that collected and collected printed products slip up to the deflecting element 5 facing away from the outer edge 2b of the support member 2. For collected products located on the Abweiselement 5 opposite end of the support 4, a stop 16, which may also be movable relative to the support member 2. All printed products are therefore aligned independently of the format along a common edge 21. At this edge 21 they can be picked up for transport away or for further processing.

The receiving element 1 is movable with a conveyor system 13 in the conveying direction W. The receiving elements 1 are moved, for example along a closed orbit U, as shown in Fig. 10. The support member 2 is connected via a boom 14 with a conveyor 13a in the form of a carriage and pivotable about an axis 15 extending substantially in the conveying direction. The pivotability serves primarily for emptying the receiving element 1, as shown for example in FIGS. 7 and 9. However, the receiving element 1 can also be pivoted about the axis 15 in order to align all recorded printed products on the common edge 21. This is particularly advantageous for the variant of a receiving element shown in Fig. 2 with fixedly attached rejection element 5.

The rejection element 5 consists of a web 10, which deflects newly supplied printed products 9 of already deposited printed products 6, 7, 8 as the actual deflector, so that the newly supplied printed product 9 is positioned laterally therefrom. The supplied printed products 9 are aligned along a common edge 20, wherein this edge 20 is when feeding above the rejection element 5. Thus, all printed products 9 are exposed regardless of their format in the same place the effect of the rejection element 5. A longitudinal edge of the web 10 acts as a repellent surface or edge 11, over which glide past coming products 9 and determines a feed level. The deflecting surface 11 is spaced from the bearing plane defined by the support element 2. The distance preferably corresponds to the thickness of the parts of a typical final printed product taken up by bottom element 3 and support element 2. In principle, the rejection element is designed such that at least parts of it are spaced from the abutment plane defined by the support element 2. These parts define the feed level, which is outside the plant level.

In the example of Fig. 1, printed products 9 are supplied from above and slide over the web 10 of the rejection element 5. If the printed products fed in the mode 'collation', they slide largely due to the inclination of the support member 2 by itself in its final position, in the flush with the common edge 21. In the 'Collect' mode, the printed products first come to lie on the web 10. This is brought in the example of FIG. 1 from a first position A, in which he perceives Abweiserfunktion, in a second position B. The web 10 is thereby pulled out from under the fold, so that the printed product 9 is deposited on the support 4. To move between the positions A and B, the deflector 5 is movably mounted on a linear rail 18. The web 10 is connected via a support arm 17 with the rail 18 and can on this slide. In this case, the web 10 moves substantially parallel to the direction defined by the support 4 direction. The rejection elements 5 are moved with a conveyor system 19 with the receiving elements 1, as shown for example in Figures 11a and 11b.

Die Konstruktion des Abweiseelements 5 ist gegenüber der beweglichen Ausführung nach Fig. 1a,b einfacher.FIGS. 2 a and 2 b show a further embodiment of a receiving element 1 according to the invention with a support element 2 and a base element 3 and with a deflection element 5 according to the invention. The deflection element 5 is firmly fastened to the support element 2 in this case. Printed products 9 slide over the rejection element 5 and initially come to rest partially on the web 10 of the rejection element 5 during collection. Due to the inclination of the support member 2 from the horizontal, the supplied printed products 9 slide up to the end of the support 4, which faces away from the deflector 5. There they are stopped by a stop 16. The distance of the stop 16 from the tip 10a of the web 10 corresponds to at least the typical maximum edge length of a printed product. Received from the receiving element 1 printed products 8a, 8, 9 are aligned along the deflecting element 5 facing away from the vertical edge of the receiving element 1, so that format independent a common edge 21 is formed. In the present example with a fixedly attached to the support element 2 Abweiselement 5, the support element 2 itself is wider than the embodiment of FIG. 1a, b. The construction of the rejection element 5 is simpler than the movable embodiment according to FIGS. 1a, b.

Fig. 3a, b show a further embodiment of a receiving element 1 according to the invention with a support element 2 and a bottom element 3 and one on the support element 2 fastened, relative to linearly displaceable deflector element 5. The construction of the receiving element 1 and the Abweiselements 5 corresponds substantially to Fig. 1a, b. The one web 10 and a holding arm 17 having rejection element is displaceable along a rail 18 between a first position A and a second position B. In contrast to FIGS. 1a, b, no separate conveyor system is provided for rejection elements, but the deflector element 5 is firmly connected to the corresponding receiving element. The displaceability between the positions A and B is preferably realized in that web 10 and holding arm 17 are held by a spring in the second position B and can be moved by means of a link in the first position A.

Der Grundkörper 2' weist des weiteren eine im wesentlichen horizontal verlaufende Kante 24 auf, die die Druckereiprodukte auch bei heruntergeschwenktem Arm 22 abstützt.4a, b show a further example of a receiving element 1 according to the invention with a deflecting element 5. As in the example of FIG. 3a, b, the deflecting element 5 is fastened to the supporting element 2 of the receiving element and along a rail 18 between a first position A and a second position B movable. In the present case, the support element 2 is designed in two pieces, wherein the support 4 is formed by the upper edge of a pivotably connected to the base body 2 'of the support member 2 arm 22. The arm 22 is pivotable from a substantially horizontal position C about a substantially perpendicular to the surface defined by the support member 2 extending axis 23 in a further position D. Thus, in the mode 'collecting' supplied printed products 9 are initially stored astride the arm 22 and on the support 4. By pivoting the arm 22 in the position D they are placed regardless of their format on the bottom element 3 and aligned along the bottom edge. The compiled print shop end product can so to Removal be taken. In order to enable gripping with a gripper, even in smaller formats, the base body 2 'of the support member 2 approximately at mid-height on a recess 28, in which a gripper can engage, as shown for example in Fig. 6. The main body 2 'further has a substantially horizontally extending edge 24 which supports the printed products even when the arm 22 is pivoted downwards.

Fig. 5 shows a possibility of transferring received in a receiving element 1 printed products 6, 8 to a further receiving element 26. The receiving element 1 is pivoted to a substantially extending in the conveying direction W axis 15. The arranged in the region of the support 4 stop 16 is moved so that collected on the support 4 products 8 can slide in or on the other receiving element 26. Products 6 collected in the first receiving element 1 also slide into the further receiving element 26. Collected products 8 are transferred so that they are located completely on or within the second receiving element 26. The further receiving element 26 can be moved with a further conveyor system 27.

Receiving element 1 is now available for the re-admission of printed products. With the conveyor system 13, it is transported into transfer areas in which, as already described, deflecting elements are moved with the receiving element 1 for deflecting products.

Fig. 6 shows a further transfer possibility of recorded in a receiving element 1 printed products 8, 8a, 6 with a gripper 29. The support member 2 is equipped with a pivotable support 4, as in Principle in connection with Fig. 4a, b described. In the present case, the rejection element 5 is not fixedly attached to the support element 2, but is moved synchronously only in the transfer area for feeding products with it. To remove the recorded in the receiving element 1 products 8, 8a, 6, the arm 22 whose upper edge forms the support 4, pivoted to the bottom element 3 of the receiving element. At the same time, the support element is pivoted about the axis 15 from the horizontal. By engaging in a recess 28 in the main body 2 'of the support member 2 all printed products can be taken at once in a defined position to each other with the gripper 29 and transported away via a gripper transport system 30.

Fig. 7 shows a further transfer possibility of recorded in the receiving element 1 printed products to another pocket-like receiving element 26. In this case, the support member 2 of the receiving element 1 is pivoted about 120 degrees about the axis 15, whereby the products taken up by him headfirst into the receiving pocket of wieiteren receiving element 26 are transported. However, the arrangement and order of the printed products remains. By tilting the further receiving element is achieved that the printed products in turn align along a common edge.

Fig. 8a-d shows another example of a receiving element 1 according to the invention with a two-part support element 2, which consists of a pivotable arm 22 and a base body 2 '. The arm 22 has a support 4 and a stop 16. It is pivotable about a perpendicular to the base body 2 'extending axis 23 to the bottom element 3 out. In the present embodiment is used the arm 22 as a rejection element 5. For this purpose, it has a over a large part of its total length extending movable flap 32. The flap 32 has the same function as the web 10 of FIGS. 1-4. Its front longitudinal edge 11 is spaced from the base 2 'of the support member 2 when the arm 22 is in the position shown in FIG upper position C is located. The longitudinal edge 11 thus acts as a deflection surface. In order to pivot the arm 22 in the lower position D, as shown in Fig. 8d, the flap 32 is pivotable about a parallel to the support 4 extending pivot axis 31. Thus, the flap 32 and the web 10 in the state C for holding other printed products 8 from the already collected printed products 6, 7 (Fig. 8b) or supplied in collecting mode printed products 9 from the already stored printed products 6, 7, 8 (Figure 8c). When swiveling down the arm 22 to the position D, products 9 stored in collecting mode are placed over products 6, 7, 8 which have already been collected and placed on the bottom element 3. Pivoting arm 22 to an intermediate position, as shown here, may be used as a product straightening function in gathering. As already described in connection with FIGS. 4 a, b, the base body 2 'has an indentation 28 into which a gripper for removing the printed products can engage. With a further gripper 33 printed products are supplied from above so that they are deflected by the deflector 5 and thereby slide into the receiving element 1.

Das weitere Aufnahmeelement 26 wird mittels eines weiteren Fördersystems 27 transportiert.FIG. 9 shows a possibility of transferring printed products from a receiving element 1 according to FIG. 8a-d into a further pocket-like receiving element 26. As already shown in FIG. 7, the supporting element 2 is moved around one Axis 15 pivoted from the horizontal by about 120 degrees, so that the Druckbereitpodukte that are on the ejector on the support 4 formed by the Ablegeelement 5 rest or are leaning on the bottom element 3 standing against the support element 2, fall headfirst into the pocket 26. The pocket 26 is inclined from the horizontal and has at its downwardly facing end a stop 26a through which the printed products are aligned along a common edge. The further receiving element 26 is transported by means of a further conveyor system 27.

Die gezeigte Anlage erlaubt eine grosse Flexibilität bezüglich der Zusammenstellung der Druckerei-Endprodukte.10 shows a plan view of an apparatus for producing, for example, printing end products with a combination of receiving elements 1 and deflecting elements 5 according to the invention. The receiving elements 1 are moved along a closed circulatory path U, for which purpose a conveying system 13 (not illustrated here) is used. The recording elements 1, individual printed products 6, 7, 8 fed to individual feed stations. In the present case, printed products are transported in an imbricated formation by means of a feed device 34 into a transfer region 37 above the movement path of the receiving elements 1. They are there taken by individual grippers 33, optionally opened, and passed from above to the receiving elements 1. The purpose of a transport device 35, which is described for example in the non-prepublished Swiss patent application no. 2000 0414/00. At further corresponding stations further printed products 7, 8 are supplied. In this case, the receiving elements 1 can be emptied again after passing through a number of stations in an unloading station 36. Along the further orbit further feed stations are arranged, in which the receiving elements 1 are re-equipped. By means of a single Device can thus be manufactured two different series of printing end products. Alternatively, in the present example, all ten feed stations can be used to produce a single final print product from ten individual print products. In this case, one of the two removal stations 36 arranged between the five feed stations is not used. The system shown allows a great deal of flexibility with regard to the compilation of the final printed products.

Figures 11a, 11b show a partial view of a device for the production of printing end products. Fig. 11a shows a device with a feed station, Fig. 11b with two successively arranged feed stations, one of which can also be disabled or removed (shown in phantom). Receiving elements 1 are transported along a closed circulation path U in the conveying direction W with a conveyor system 13. In each case, they receive a printed product 6 supplied in collective mode. In the transfer area for further printed products 7, according to the invention, rejection elements 5 are moved synchronously with the receiving elements 1. The deflection elements 5 also move by means of a further conveyor system 19 along a closed circulation path U 'which runs parallel to the circulation path U in the transfer region 37. The rejection elements 5 are movable along a rail 18 linearly between a position B and a position A, wherein in position A, a web 10 of the rejection element projects like a roof over the receiving element 1. Along a feed 34 in scala formation supplied printed products 7 are gripped by a gripper conveyor 35 with circulating in a vertical plane circular space 33, and of placed on top of the passing receiving elements 1. The printed products 7 slide thereby first on the web 10 of the Abweiselements 5. By this is withdrawn when leaving the transfer area back to the position B, slide the printed products 7 on the already placed on the pad printed product 6. By inclining the receiving element 1, they slide the rejection element 5 facing away from the end of the receiving element to stop 16 arranged there. In a further processing station further printed products 8 are supplied in the collecting mode in the same manner.
