Abstract
The invention concerns a new crop protection formulation possessing insecticidal and acaricidal action, selected for use in agriculture and horticulture. The formulation has the following composition expressed in weight percent: 0.2-0.3 active compound from the avermectins group equalized to the biological activity of avermectin B1; 5.0-30.0 surfactant; 40.0-80.0 solvents; 5.0-30.0 additional solvents; 1.0-6.0 benzyl alcohol; 0.1-1.0 antioxidants; 1.0-3.0 adhesives. It is used as a 0.10-0.12% water solution and demonstrates high biological efficiency against agriculture and horticulture pests.

FORMULATION FOR CROP PROTECTION WITH INSECTICIDAL AND
ACARICIDAL ACTION
Techniques field of application
The invention concerns' a new crop protection formulation possessing insecticidal and acaricidal action, selected for use in agronomic and horticultural crops cultivated in greenhouses and in the open.
Background of the invention
Recently, avermectin and its major component avermectin Bi (BId + Blb), with the common name abamectin [1], synthesized of the fermentation of Strepiomyces avermiiϊlis has been widely used against pests in agronomic and horticultural crops.
The avermectin formulations are a new generation of insecticides with a mechanism of action differing from that of the chemical pesticides since avermectin Bi (abamectin) is effective against populations of insects and acarines which have developed resistance to organophosphoms compounds, carbamates, pyrethroids, etc.

Abamectin formulations are known which proved to be effective against greenhouse and tobacco white fly, western flower thrips, leafminer flies. [3]
Studies carried out in Bulgaria report the high efficacy of abamectin against leafminer flies from the Liriomyza order, the Colorado potato beetle (Leptinotarza decemlineata), the greenhouse whitefly (Trialeurodes vaporariorum), the two- spotted spider mite (Tetranychus urticae) and the peach aphid (Myzus percae).[4]
Description of the invention
The invention concerns a new crop protection formulation possessing insecticidal and acaricidal action, selected for use in agriculture and horticulture.
The novel formulation has the following composition, expressed in percent weight units:
0.2 - 3.0 of the 'active component of the avermectins group (including abamectin, ivermectin, natural mycelium product) equal to the biological activity of avemiectin B^ 5.0 - 30.0 surfactant (emulsifier) from the polyoxyhydrogenated castor-oil group (Kremofor PH-40 or Kremofor EL-35); 40.0 - 80.0 solvents - propylene glycol or polyethylene glycol; 5.0 - 30.0 other solvents - dimethyl acetamide or dimethyl sulfoxide; 1.0 - 6.0 benzyl alcohol; 0.1 - 1.0 antioxidants - butylhydroxytoluene or butylhydroxyanisol; 1.0 - 3.0 adhesives - poly vinyl pyrolidon (Colydon).
Water solution of the formulation with a concentration of 0.10 - 0.12% is applied so that very good foliage covering is assured.
The formulation components are stable. The biological studies report good efficacy against Colorado, potato beetle (Leptinotarza decemlineata), the greenhouse whitefly (Trialeurodes vaporiorum), the leafminer fly (Liriomyza huidobrensis), the two-spotted spider mite (Tetranychus urticae) and others.
Very high efficacy' against Colorado potato beetle (90 - 100%) was reported on the 7th day of treatment, veiy good control was reported against leafminer fly (80 - 99%) and greenhouse whitefly (80 - 84%).

Application of the invention
Studies for assessment of the biological efficacy of the novel formulation have been carried out as described in Examples 1 and 2.
Efficacy of the formulation against Colorado potato beetle
(Leptinotarza decemlineata)
The Colorado, potato beetle is an important pest in potato and aubergine cultures which is due to its consistent proliferation, the long-lasting active feeding of the larvae and the adults and its high reproductive capacity.
Field and laboratory trials were performed to assess the efficacy of the formulation. The novel formulation proved to be toxic to all larval stages; mortality was provided in the. early-stage larvae. Fourth stage larvae and imago that remained unaffected by some commonly used preparations showed fair sensitivity to the new formulation that was applied at a concentration rate of 0.1%. The first visible symptoms of exposure to the formulation were reduced food willingness and paralysis. Stomach intoxication symptoms appeared such as flow out of brown liquid from the mouth and excretion of splashy to liquid feces which were more frequent in adult stages and imago. Mortality of the early larval stages was reported over a short period of , 10 to 15 hours. Two to three days after the treatment the adults and imago moved slightly their hind legs and their mouth showing signs of partial though irrevocable paralysis. After killing the bodies of the early-stage larvae went darker, whereas red-orange coloring of the adults remained- for several days and afterwards turned dark brown. Parts of the thin wings of the insects were visible at the end of the stomach.. The formulation was shown to be veiy effective - on the third day after spraying the efficacy was 95% and on the l day it achieved 100%o (Table 1).

Claims
1. A formulation for crop protection possessing an insecticidal and acaricidal action with the following composition in weight percent: 0.2 - 0.3 active compound from the avermectins group equalized to the biological activity of avermectin Bi; 5.0 - 30.0 surfactant; 40.0 - 80.0 solvents; 5.0 - 30.0 additional solvents; 1.0 - 6.0 benzyl alcohol; 0.1 - 1.0 antioxidants; 1.0 - 3.0 adhesives.
2. The formulation of claim 1, wherein the formulation is composed of an active substance from • the avermectins group, comprising of abamectin, ivermectin and a natural mycelium product.
3. The formulation of claim 1, wherein emulsifiers from the polyoxyhydrogenated castor-oil group (Kremofor RH-40 and Kremofor EL-35) are used as a surfactant.
4. The formulation of claim 1, wherein propylene glycol and polyethylene glycol are used as solvents.
5. The formulation of claim 1, wherein dimethylacetamide and dimethylsulfoxide are used as additional solvents.
6. The formulation of claim 1, wherein butylhydroxytoluene and butylhydroxyanisol are used as antioxidants
7. The formulation of claim 1 wherein polyvinilpyrolidon (Colydon) is used as adhesive.
8. Application of the formulation according to claims 1 to 7 as a crop protection product in th&form of 0.10-0.12%) water solution.
