Definitions
- the present invention relates to the mounting of weapon sights.
- the invention relates, more particularly, to a sighting device fixed on the barrel of the weapon and intended to project a virtual image on the target.
- a sighting device fixed on the barrel of the weapon and intended to project a virtual image on the target.
- various devices of this type intended in particular to project on the target a red dot.
- these devices are arranged on the cannon at some distance from the shooter's eye.
- the invention proposes to produce an assembly which allows to shoot as with a conventional sighting system (sight and handlebars), as well with a rifle, as with a double express rifle or shotgun, while using an image projection sighting device Virtual.
- the assembly, object of the invention is intended for be used on a weapon such as a rifle or rifle and wherein said device is of the type projecting a virtual image on the target, while the weapon features, on the one hand, a rise or a band and, on the other hand, to the free end of the barrel, a handlebar, said assembly being characterized in that it comprises means for fixing said sighting device at the location provided for handlebars.
- the device can be placed aiming so that the projected image is located on the handlebar riser axis so the shooter can shoot keeping the cheek glued to the butt without having to raise the head.
- the parallax is removed and the field of vision is much more important.
- the shooting is very improved.
- align the eye with the sight and handlebars, and in a smooth shotgun put the eye perfectly in line with the strip; any misalignment generates a major aiming error.
- the "red dot" device always projects a point bright in the same axis if the eye is not perfectly aligned and if the cheek position against the butt is not correct, the target can still be reached.
- the mounting comprises a plate provided with means for the fixing the sighting device, said plate being provided means for fixing it at the location provided for handlebars.
- the mounting comprises a bar provided with a groove in dovetail, while the handlebars are carried by a support provided with a slide intended to be inserted in the groove, said sighting device being fixed on a plate provided with a slide corresponding to the groove.
- means are provided for wedging selectively the handlebar support or the support plate the sighting device in the groove.
- the bar is drilled with holes for the passage of a screw, while that the support and plate slides are provided a notch intended to coincide with the holes and to cooperate with the screw.
- the screw is screwed into a nut, the latter and the screw comprising a knurled button.
- the mounting provides that the plate is shaped to match the support and is extended by two wings hugging the barrels and provided with threads for screwing in screws fixing the sighting device, said wings being offset in height so that the axis of the virtual image coincides with the axis of sight rise-handlebar.
- the support may include a tapped hole and the plate has a hole for the passage of a fixing screw screwing into the tapped hole.
- the mounting includes a socket for attachment to the end free of the barrel and a sleeve pivotally mounted on the socket and bearing, angularly offset, the handlebar and the sighting device projecting a virtual image onto the target, and means for selectively wedging the sleeve in two angular positions, a first angular position in which the sighting device is arranged to so that the projected image is aligned with the rise or the strip, and a second angular position in which the handlebar is aligned with said riser or said strip.
- the socket comprises, at one end, a flange constituting a stop for one end of the sleeve, while at the other end end the sleeve is held by the ring fixed on the gun.
- the socket has two blind holes offset by 180 ° and connected by a groove, while the sleeve has a radial hole in which is housed a ball pushed by a spring so that it cooperates with the groove and selectively with the blind holes.
- Figure 1 is an exploded perspective view showing a first assembly.
- Figure 2 shows in perspective an adaptable handlebar on the first assembly.
- Figure 3 is an elevational view showing the fixing of the plate supporting the sighting device.
- Figure 4 is an exploded perspective view of a alternative embodiment adaptable to a double express rifle juxtaposed.
- Figure 5 is a front elevation view of the second mounting.
- Figure 6 is an exploded perspective view of a variant embodiment of the invention.
- Figure 7 is an axial sectional view of the assembly.
- Figure 8 is a sectional view along line 8-8 in Figure 7.
- Figure 9 is a sectional view along line 9-9 in Figure 7.
- Figures 10 and 11 are corresponding section views in figure 9 and showing the different positions of the assembly.
- the assembly provides on the barrel of a rifle 1 to replace the handlebars by an assembly comprising a bar 2 presenting, on its upper face, a dovetail groove 3 in which a corresponding slide can be inserted 4 a support 5 on which the handlebar 6 is carried.
- the slide 4 has a notch 7, while the bar 2 is pierced with holes 8 intended to be crossed by a screw 9 provided with a knurled head 10 and intended to be screw in a nut 12 also provided with a knurled head 11.
- the aiming device for projecting an image virtual, for example, a red dot 15 includes a base 16, two cheeks 19 supporting a protective ring 17 a lens 18.
- the sighting device is fixed on a plate 20 by screws 23 screwed into tapped holes 24 of said plate which comprises a slide 21 with cross section dovetail and notch 22.
- Figures 4 and 5 show a variant for carrying out the invention adaptable to a double rifle express juxtaposed with two cannons 28 connected by a strip 31 on which a support 29 is welded for a handlebar and having a tapped hole 30.
- the sighting device 15 is fixed by screw 23 screwing into threads 36 of the wings 35 of a plate 32 having a hole 34 for the passage of a screw 37 screwing into the tapped hole 30 to ensure the fixing of the plate.
- the plate 32 has a step 33 in order to match the support 29 and the wings 35 are offset in height so that the projected red dot is located at approximately the same height than the handlebars that were removed.
- the sighting device comes to replace on the handlebars and that the axis of the red point substantially coincides with the handlebar riser axis.
- the reference 40 designates the end free from the barrel of a rifle to which is fixed a socket terminated at one end by a flange 42.
- This socket can be fixed by any suitable means and possibly with one or more 43 point screws in a thread 44 of the collar 42.
- the sleeve 41 has a groove 47 extending over 180 ° and terminated by two blind holes 48 and 49.
- a sleeve 50 integral a plate 51 pierced with tapped holes 52 intended to receive fixing screws 53 passing through holes 58 of a plate 54 carrying a sighting device 55, this being of the type known under the name "red dot" and comprising a lens 56 protected by a frame 57.
- the sleeve 50 is pierced with a radial hole 59 in which is housed a ball 62 pushed by a spring 61 held by the plate 54.
- a support 64 of a handlebar 66 On the sleeve 50 is fixed a support 64 of a handlebar 66, the support 64 having holes 65 through which pass screws 63 which are screwed into threads 57 of sleeve 50.
- the sighting device 55 and the handlebar 66 are mounted angularly offset by 180 °.
- the whole is held by a ring 70 coming press against the free end of the socket 41 and fixed to the barrel 40, for example, by one or more needle screws 72 screwed into a female thread 71.
- the ball 62 cooperates with groove 47 and sleeve 50 can turn on socket 41 and be wedged in two positions angularly offset by 180 °.
