Definitions
- the present invention relates to improvements brought in the field of liferafts trapped pneumatic tires, in the deflated storage state and folded, in a rigid container of elongated general shape horizontally and not parallelepipedic, said container consisting of two half-shells assembled one to the other, as known for example from US-A-3,387,811.
- rafts of survival In large capacity ships, such as cruise ships, car-ferries, cruise ships, it is necessary to provide a large number of rafts of survival, which is proportionate to the carrying capacity of the ship. These rafts, enclosed in containers, are stored in groups at various locations on the ship.
- Circular curvature of cutting concavities intermediate cradles may not marry so perfect the convex curvature of the cylindrical containers: therefore the weight of the containers may not be evenly spread over the cradle.
- the central zone bottom of the cradle alone supports most of the the weight of the container, especially since there is inadequacy between the convex curvatures of the container and concave of the cradle.
- the implementation of the raft requires that the container be lifted first, using a davit, high enough for it to be mounted above the side horns of the cradles before can be moved laterally over horns cradles and be outflanked laterally from the ship.
- the invention proposes a advanced container arrangement for liferaft as mentioned in the preamble, container which, being arranged according to the invention, is characterized in that that at least the lower half-shell has on its face external convex, an area of axial extent generally plane by which the container can rest so stable on a substantially flat support surface that it is underlying.
- the half-shell superior also has on its outer face convex, an area of generally flat axial extent, this thanks to which two containers can be stacked one on the other, the lower half-shell of the upper container resting, by its generally flat area, on the area generally flat of the upper half-shell of the underlying container.
- the generally flat areas of the half-shells lower and upper have reliefs of complementary forms; in particular, we can do in so, preferably, that the generally flat area of the upper half-shell has at least one boss salient and that the generally flat area of the half-shell bottom has at least one hollow footprint of complementary shape of the aforesaid boss.
- the container is of approximately prismatic general shape to at least pentagonal section and the generally flat area is constituted by a face of the prismatic form.
- the container is of approximately general shape truncated cylindrical and the generally flat area is constituted by a flat of axial extent intersecting the cylindrical shape.
- each half-shell provided generally flat area also comprises at least a radial protuberance which extends axially from else of the aforesaid generally flat area of expanse axial and which has a frontal face generally plane substantially coplanar to said zone generally flat, thanks to which we increase the bearing surface of the container and we increase its stability especially transversely, especially in stack configuration.
- At least the half-hull lower, and possibly the upper half-shell has at least one radial protuberance extending axially and which has a front face generally plane which, at least, tangents the outer face of the half-shell or is spread beyond it, said face frontal of the protuberance constituting the aforesaid zone usually flat.
- each protuberance can be Integral with the half-shell, especially coming from molding with this one.
- each protuberance is in the general form of a thick plate extending approximately transversely to the axis of the container and each half-hull is provided with at least two protrusions spaced apart axially from each other.
- each protuberance in thick plate form has at least two bosses or respectively two transversely spread marks one of the other.
- the upper container can be released laterally without have to be raised consistently (a weak uplift can clear the bosses out of hollow impressions).
- the implementation of the raft no longer leads to abandonment on the bridge of parts likely to hinder then boarding passengers in the raft.
- the container which previously offered no stability when it was deposited on a support surface, can now be deposited in a perfectly stabilized way: in other words, the supports integrated in the container according to the invention not only ensure bridging required between two stacked containers, but also allow the lower container of the stack of rest stably directly on the deck or directly on a reception tray without being necessary to use bridge cradles specific.
- the arrangement according to the invention offers the possibility of overcoming a difficulty encountered during the implementation of the rafts.
- a single davit allows to maneuver three or four containers or stacks of containers that are grouped side by side under the davit in the action area of it.
- others containers or piles of additional containers which would be further away from the davit, could no longer be seized. Therefore, in the context of this invention, to equip the lower half-shell with moving means arranged in conjunction with said generally flat area.
- These means may be in particular sliding shoes, for example coated with a low friction material such as those marketed under the name of nylon, or wheels.
- FIG. 1 shows, in end view, a first embodiment of a container capable of enclosing a pneumatic liferaft in the deflated and folded state, this container designated in FIG. its set by the reference 1 1 being arranged according to the invention.
- the container 1 1 is supposed to be shaped to enclose, in the deflated and folded state, a large capacity pneumatic liferaft, for example for thirty people, more, and all related equipment.
- the container 1 1 is of generally elongate shape horizontally and not parallelepipedic and it consists of two half-shells respectively lower 2 and upper 3 assembled to one another.
- the container is, as a whole, arranged in any way appropriate to its function and use, especially as regards its external armament in view of its stowage, its handling with the help of davits, .... Similarly, its internal equipment - raft inflatable, automatic opening means, means of survival, ... - does not come into play in the of the invention.
- the lower half-shell 2 is provided, on its convex outer face, with a generally planar axial extent zone 6 through which the container can rest stably on a support surface. substantially flat underlying it.
- the container 1 1 is placed on a support 8 (deck of a ship, tray, ).
- the container 1 1 is generally of approximately prismatic prone form, with at least a pentagonal cross-section (hexagonal in the illustrated example).
- the generally planar zone 6 is constituted simply by one of the lateral faces of the container 1 1 .
- the container is of approximately prismatic shape lying down with an even number of sides, so that at least two mutually opposite sides (the sides 6 and 7 in the FIG. 1) are substantially parallel to each other.
- the approximately flat area 6 of the lower half-shell 2 of the container above resting on the approximately flat area 7 of the upper half-shell 3 of the underlying container In Figure 1, the container 1 1 above the stack has been shown in broken lines, and it is identical to the underlying container 1 1 shown in solid lines.
- the generally flat areas 6 and 7 respective lower half-shells 2 and upper 3 present reliefs of complementary forms specific to to join each other.
- the generally flat area 7 of the half-shell upper 3 has at least one protruding boss 9 and the generally flat area 6 of the lower half-shell 2 has at least one hollow cavity 10 of shape complementary to the aforesaid boss 9 and wherein fits.
- FIG. 2 is a bottom view of a second possible embodiment in which the container 1 ' 2 is of approximately truncated cylindrical general shape: the generally planar zone 6 is here constituted by a flat of axial extent intersecting the cylindrical general shape of at least the lower half-shell 2.
- the upper half-shell 3 is also in the form of a half-cylinder truncated by a flat of axial extent forming a generally flat area 7.
- FIG. container 1 " 2 thus arranged on which is arranged, shown in broken lines, a second container 1 ' 2 similar to that of Figure 2.
- the containers 1' 2 and 1" 2 may have the same restraint arrangements ( boss 9, cavity 10) than those exposed above for the container 1 1 of Figure 1.
- FIG. 4 is shown in end view a third embodiment, which is preferred, a container 1 ' 3 arranged according to the invention.
- the container 1 ' 3 has an approximately cylindrical general shape, in particular a cylindrical shape of revolution, which is the common general shape of containers for high-capacity pneumatic liferafts.
- the lower half-shell 2 comprises at least one protuberance 4 of radial extent (that is to say transverse to the axis of the container) having a front face 6 (ie hereinafter a lower face) which is generally flat and which at least substantially tangents the semi-cylindrical convex wall of the half-shell 2 or extends slightly beyond the semi-cylindrical wall as shown in FIG. figure 4.
- the protuberance 4 thus forms a support which is able to rest stably by its front face 6 on a substantially flat support surface that is underlying (for example, soil 8 in Figure 4, or a support tray).
- the upper half-shell 3 with at least one protuberance 5, in the same way as the lower half-shell 2, as illustrated in FIG. 5 for the container 1 " 3 .
- the general conformation identity of the lower and upper protuberances 5 and 5, the protuberance 5 may, for its part, constitute a stable support support on which can rest the lower support 4 of another container: it is thus possible to stack two containers one on the other as shown in Figure 6 where the upper container is the 1 ' 3 shown in Figure 4, or as shown in Figure 7 where the upper container is the 1 " 3 illustrated in Figure 5.
- the faces 6 and 7 of the respective protuberances 4 and 5 associated with the respective half-shells 2, 3 show the aforesaid reliefs of mutually complementary forms which can fit into each other and prevent a sliding of the upper container.
- these complementary reliefs can have one or more protruding bosses 9 provided by example on the front face 7 of the protuberance upper 5 and one or more hollow impressions 10 provided then for example on the front face 6 of the lower protuberance 4.
- these reliefs interlocking 9, 10 do not interfere with the support of the isolated container or lower container of a stack on the floor or on a receiving tray. We can remain that such a reception tray is itself equipped with protruding bosses to retain the container.
- a container arranged according to the third mode embodiment of the invention with its protuberances lower 4 and possibly higher 5 can be constituted in any appropriate way to obtain a resistant and monobloc device in use.
- protuberances 4, 5 can be made in the form of individual organs and be then secured to the respective half-shells by all suitable means (welding, gluing, screwing, etc.). This way of proceeding could be of interest not so much for the manufacture of new containers, but especially for the transformation of containers already exist to make them suitable for stacking.
- each support 4, 5 is integral with the corresponding half-shell respectively 2, 3, and in particular comes from molding with it.
- the implementation of the protuberances 4, 5 is not reserved for containers of cylindrical type, in particular cylindrical of revolution. Indeed, it is possible to equip a prismatic container according to the first embodiment described above with such protuberances as shown in Figure 8: in this figure, the lower container 1 ' 1 is equipped with two protuberances 4 and 5 secured respectively to its lower and upper half-shells 3, 3, said protuberances then being advantageously shaped so that their respective end faces are substantially coplanar with the respective lower and upper generally flat areas 7 and 6.
- the presence of the protuberances 4, 5 offers the advantage of expanding the container base in the transverse direction, and thus to improve its stability.
- FIG. 8 there is shown in broken lines a second container 1 " 1 stacked on the aforementioned container 1 ' 1 , this second container 1" 1 having only at least one lower protuberance 4 (so that it can only be used alone or at the top of stacking).
- the reliefs 9, 10 may be provided in the protuberances 4, 5.
- protuberances 4, 5 can equip, for the same reasons, a generally cylindrical truncated container as illustrated in FIG. 9.
- the explanations given above with reference to FIG. 8 are also valid for containers 1 "' 2 and 1"" 2 stacked in Figure 9.
- FIG. 10 illustrates a possible embodiment (in the configuration of the container 1 " 3 of FIG. 5) in which each protuberance 4, 5 is in the form of an approximately parallelepipedal or trapezoidal block, one of which has a curvilinear face the convex face of the corresponding half-shell and which extends axially over a major part of the length of the half-shell.
- each protuberance 4, 5 is in the form of an approximately parallelepipedal or trapezoidal block, one of which has a curvilinear face the convex face of the corresponding half-shell and which extends axially over a major part of the length of the half-shell.
- its front face 7 is equipped with, for example, two pairs of projecting studs 9 disposed respectively in the vicinity of its two ends.
- protuberances of massive shape such as those illustrated in Figure 10 are likely to increase undesirable clutter and weight of the container and to be a nuisance when implementing the raft survival.
- FIG. 11 is shown another preferred embodiment (also in the configuration of the container 1 " 3 of FIG. 5) in which each protuberance 4, 5 is in the form of a thick plate. extending approximately transversely to the axis of the corresponding half-shell and each half-shell of the container is equipped with two thick plate-shaped protuberances axially spaced from each other and situated approximately in the vicinity of the ends of the half-shell -shell.
- the face 7 of the upper protuberances 5 is provided with two projecting studs 9 spread transversely one of the other.
- the face front 6 of the lower protuberances 4 is provided with two hollow footprints 10 that are discarded transversely of each other in correspondence with the projecting studs 9 and which are shaped (shape, dimensions, depths) complementarily to the studs highlights 9.
- Figure 13 illustrates in perspective a stack of two containers 1 " 3 arranged in accordance with the preferred embodiment of Figures 11 and 12.
- Such a stack is stable, occupies a smaller area on the ground than the two containers juxtaposed and remains easily manipulated using the davits currently fitted to the ships.
- the upper container does not need to be much raised: it is only necessary to clear the hollow footprints 10 of protuberances 4 of its lower half-shell 2 above the protruding bosses 9 of the protuberances 5 of the upper half-shell 2 of the underlying container
- the container has been lifted and overflowed, no parts remaining on the deck remain and Once the raft is inflated and brought up to the deck, passengers can board without being disturbed.
- FIG. 13 there is shown in broken lines a third container 1 " 3 which extends the stack, of course, the upper container could equally well be of the type devoid of protuberances on the upper half-shell (container 1 ' 3 4), such an assembly (or even an even higher set of four or five containers) is in principle perfectly feasible and the presence of the protuberances 4, 5 provides a distribution of the loads which avoids any deformation and damage to the half-pipes.
- such stacks are only feasible, because of their increased height, if the handling davits are shaped accordingly.
- Figures 11 to 13 illustrate more precisely containers for large rafts (by example thirty people or more).
- the provisions of the invention can of course adapt to rafts of any dimension; especially for rafts of very large capacity (for example a hundred or a hundred and fifty people) who are much larger in the state deflated and folded, containers may be particularly longer. If you want to stack two such containers insofar as the mechanical strength of the two half-shells allows it, it may be necessary to provide a third intermediate support on each half-hull so to obtain a better distribution of the weights and avoid a deformation of the underlying container of the stack.
- each protuberance 4, 5 can certainly be protruding radial projection compared to the median generatrix of the semi-cylindrical half-shell.
- the protuberances 4, 5 do not show significant protrusion relative to the median generator of the half-shell semi-cylindrical and that the front faces 6, 7 of the protuberances are tangent or nearly tangent to the half-shell, as shown in the various figures.
- the isolated container or the lower container of a stack rests directly on the deck of the ship.
- the container it is possible to equip the container with skates slip, in particular coated with a low coefficient of friction (such as the material marketed as Nylon, for example).
- such organs of displacement 11 can be housed in the footprints hollow 10 of the lower half-shell which are then advantageously configured at the surface and at depth to, on the one hand, receive the bosses 9 in the conditions set out above and, on the other hand, said displacement members.
