Das in Fig. 2 im Schnitt dargestellte Kurbelgehäuse eines 6-Zylinder-Boxermotors
besteht ohne Einschränkung auf diese Ausführungsform aus zwei Kurbelgehäusehälften 2
und 4 mit zwei horizontal angeordneten Zylinderbankreihen 1 bis 3 und 4 bis 6 (nicht
dargestellt). Aus jedem der beiden Kurbelgehäusehälften 2 und 4 ist ein nach unten
verlaufender Wandabschnitt 6 und 8 herausgebildet, die zusammen mit einem an den
Flanschflächen 10 und 12 der beiden Wandabschnitte 6 und 8 befestigten Öldeckel 14
ein Ölauffanggehäuse, im folgenden als Ölwanne bezeichnet, bilden. Die Ölwanne besteht
aus einem Ölabsaugraum 16, in dem ein zu einer nicht dargestellten Hauptölpumpe
führender Ölabsaugschnorchel 17 angeordnet ist. Links und rechts vom Ölabsaugraum
16 sind zwei Ölsammelräume 18 und 20 ausgebildet, die gegenüber dem Ölabsaugraum
16 durch zwei später noch näher beschriebene Ölschottwände 22 und 24 abgetrennt
sind. In den beiden Ölsammelräumen 18 und 20 ist jeweils ein Öl/Luftabscheider, ein
sog. Swirlpot 26 und 28 angeordnet. Zu den beiden Swirlpots 26 und 28 führt jeweils
eine Ölleitung 30 und 32, die an ihren beiden anderen Enden über jeweils ein
Anschlussstück 34 und 36 an zwei durch die Kurbelgehäusehälften 2 und 4 gebildeten
Ölrücklaufkanälen 38 angeschlossen sind. In Fig. 2 ist der Ölrücklaufkanal 38 für die
Zylinderbankreihe 4 bis 6 dargestellt. Beide durch die Kurbelgehäusehälften 2 und 4
gebildeten Ölrücklaufkanäle sind durch eine nicht dargestellte Trennwand, die im Bereich

sind die beiden Ölschottwände 22 und 24 im Eingriffsbereich mit einer kammartigen
Führungsstruktur 44 versehen, die zwischen den Führungsrippen 40 und 42 gehalten ist.
Zur zusätzlichen Abdichtung der beiden Ölsammelräume 18 und 20 gegenüber dem
Ölabsaugraum 16 ist zwischen der Führungsrippe 40 und der Rückseite der kammartigen
Führungsstruktur 44 eine Gummidichtung 46 vorgesehen.The two

Ölsammelräume 18, 20 gegenüber dem Ölabsaugraum 16 eine Gummidichtung 58

Das aus den beiden Zylinderköpfen des Motors abgesaugte Schmieröl wird über die
beiden Ölrücklaufkanäle 38 (Ölrücklauf anhand der Pfeile dargestellt), über die Ölleitungen

zurück gefördert. Durch die beiden Swirlpot 26 und 28 wird das Öl auf bekannte Art und
Weise entschäumt, d. h. ein Großteil der Gasbestandteile wird über den Kurbelraum nach
außen hin abgeführt. Das in die beiden Ölsammelräumen 18 und 20 zurückgeführte Öl
kann über die Strömungsklappen 52 und 54 in den eigentlichen Ölabsaugraum 16
übertreten. Von dort aus wird es auf bekannte Art und Weise über die nicht dargestellte
Hauptölpumpe, deren Ölabsaugleitung 17 in den Ölabsaugraum 16 eingreift, den
