Definitions
- the invention relates to a device for clamping an ophthalmic lens, able to allow the manipulation of the latter during its clipping, by example made by grinding, in order to adapt its outline to that of the frame the chosen frame.
- the invention relates more particularly to a improvement made to at least one drive stop fitted to this device.
- the invention finds its preferred application for the clipping of a ophthalmic lens with a very surface energy surface layer low facilitating the cleaning of said glass.
- Trimming an ophthalmic lens by grinding requires tightening and hold the glass between two coaxial shafts whose ends are provided with drive stops, each having a flexible material lining, thick enough to accommodate differences in geometry between different glasses.
- the glass machining references are given by an accessory intended to constitute one of the drive stops mentioned above, that is to say to be attached to the end of one of the trees.
- This accessory made of elastomer material is glued to the front of the glass ophthalmic in a location which depends in particular on the characteristics lens optics and data representative of the wearer's morphology. Bonding is done using a double-sided adhesive.
- the invention relates to a device for clamping a lens ophthalmic for trimming the latter, characterized in that it comprises minus a drive stop comprising a relatively non-central pin deformable extended externally by a collar of semi-rigid material, elastically deformable and flexible and in that at least said collar is shaped to present an application surface capable of coming into contact with said glass and to deform to conform to the shape of the latter, by free deflection under the effect of a clamping force applied to said stop.
- the device can include, or be used with, an accessory forming adaptable drive stop at the end of one of the shafts, conforming to the prior art.
- the other drive stop cooperating with the rear face of the glass is of the type defined above, in accordance with the invention.
- the removable accessory forming a drive stop is according to the invention.
- said application surface is provided with a double-sided self-adhesive coating.
- the invention also applies to a device for clamping a glass.
- self-positioning ophthalmic and in this case the two shafts are each provided with a drive stop according to the invention.
- each stop of training is deformed to come to marry the shape of the glass.
- the initial shape (in an unconstrained state) of the flange is different from that of the glass surface on which it must be applied.
- the collar Under the influence of axial force, the collar flexes freely because it is not backed by any rigid element forming a stop. This elastic sag (causing deformation of the collar) contributes to the good distribution of the effort of Tightening.
- the thickness of the flange is calculated for obtain a relatively constant pressure over the entire contact area.
- the drive stop is intended to cooperate with the back side of an ophthalmic lens, we give it an application surface substantially flat in the unstressed state.
- a drive stop is intended to cooperate with the front face of the glass ophthalmic, it is given a concave surface in the unconstrained state.
- said application surface can be covered with a thin plastic or material trim elastomer, the thickness of this lining will preferably be of the order of 1 to 2 mm.
- the material used allows in all circumstances to keep machining references.
- said thin coating may be a Soft PVC or neoprene.
- said surface application is provided with an adhesive layer such as a coating double sided sticker.
- This adhesive layer can replace the lining thin plastic or elastomeric material.
- the flange of the drive stop will have an outline circular.
- the collar of such a drive stop may have a contour oblong.
- the collar and the pin are preferably made in one piece and in the same material. Satisfactory results have been used using polyoxymethylene. In this polyoxymethylene embodiment, the collar has a thickness of the order of 1.5 mm.
- the clamping device 11 partially shown comprises two shafts 12, 14 axially aligned and capable of being brought towards one of the other.
- Each shaft 12, 14 carries at its end a drive stop 16a, 16b respectively.
- Ophthalmic lens 20 may be squeezed between these two stops.
- the clamping device 11 is, classic way, capable of moving next to a grinding wheel (not shown).
- the two shafts 12, 14 are driven in rotation so as to be able to rotate the ophthalmic lens 20 relative to the wheel. It is by controlling the rotation of the glass as well as the distance between the common axis of the two shafts and the axis of rotation of the grinding wheel that we can give the ophthalmic lens the desired outline.
- the clamping device 11 is automatically positioned, that is to say that the ophthalmic lens carried by a support not shown is positioned by relative to the common axis of the two trees so that the center of the area of tightening coincides with a predetermined point of the dependent ophthalmic lens in particular characteristics specific to this glass and characteristics representative of the wearer's morphology.
- the point of tightening also corresponds to the center of the rectangle in which the frame of the frame, also called circle.
- each drive stop 16a, 16b includes a central pin 24a, 24b, relatively non-deformable, extended externally by an elastically deformable collar 26a, 26b.
- Each collar is in semi-rigid plastic material and therefore liable to bend elastically and freely (not being held) when applied to force against the glass.
- Such a collar is shaped to present a application surface 28a, 28b suitable for coming into contact with the glass and for conform to the shape of the latter under the effect of a clamping force applied to the corresponding stop when the two shafts are brought together.
- the configuration is that shown in Figure 2.
- the application surface belongs for its peripheral part to said flange and for its most central part to the pawn itself.
- the application surface of each drive stop is covered with a thin lining 30 made of plastic or material elastomer.
- the thickness of this lining is of the order of 1 to 2 mm. It is by example of a flexible P.V.C. or neoprene.
- the two drive stops 16a, 16b do not have exactly the same shape.
- the stop 16a which is intended for cooperate with the front face of the ophthalmic lens has an application surface 28a concave in the unconstrained state.
- the stop 16b which is intended to cooperate with the rear face of the ophthalmic lens has an application surface 28b substantially flat in the unstressed state.
- the thin lining 30 made of material plastic or elastomeric material can be replaced with double adhesive face.
- the central part of the application surface 28a, 28b is hollowed out, the central pin having an axial bore.
- the collar and the pin are made in one piece from the same material.
- the approximate thickness of the collar is given by: where a is the outside radius of the flange and b is the inside radius of the flange (in mm), ⁇ being the Poisson's ratio of the material (usually 0.3).
- ⁇ and ⁇ are given by the following relations
