- the present invention relates to a watch winding device in particular for winding an automatic watch.
- Such watches operate on the principle of the user's wrist movement to transmit the energy necessary to the barrel. This movement allows an oscillating mass to drive a set of cogs which, thanks to the reduction, will be able to supply the energy in order to wind the spiral spring of the barrel.
- Automatic winders are intended to keep an automatic watch operational even if its owner does not wear it. This is particularly important for watches with a perpetual calendar whose stop requires the return to a watchmaker in order to replace the many cogs in the day cycle.
- Such an automatic winding case of the electric motor type, comprises a removable support on which the wristwatch is placed, and a drive device provided by a motor.
- This engine is powered by one or more batteries which generally ensure a lifetime of several months for the whole.
- a first drawback of this type of assembly is its bulk which quickly discourages potential buyers. Another drawback lies in the low attractiveness of a watch mounted in such a device. Indeed, it is not easy to see the object when it is placed on the support. This point is particularly important in a store that offers a large number of these watches.
- the object of the present invention is to overcome the drawbacks set out above, that is to say to have a compact and modular automatic winder which provides great safety in use.
- a watch winding device comprising a removable support intended to receive the watch, a motor driving said support in rotation and motor control means.

- This configuration has the advantage of eliminating the main switch which could be actuated inadvertently during a movement.

- Another advantage of the configuration according to the invention is that it is for the first time usable on a large scale for stores offering such watches. Indeed, the general cubic shape of these boxes allows an assembly of a large number of them in a small footprint.
- the modularity of these winders makes it possible to produce supply rails for several housings.
- Each unit includes an electrical outlet on its rear side allowing a plug mounted on the rail to supply, in place of the internal power supply, the drive mechanism of the watch by an external power supply.
- This configuration has the advantage of not requiring the batteries until the winder is separated from the power rail.
- the watch rotation cycle is not continuous but has rotation phases in one direction, then in the opposite direction, as well as a stopping phase. There is indeed no need to continuously rotate the watch to ensure proper operation. Therefore, for a large part of the time, the watch is stationary.
- One of the characteristics of the winder according to the invention is to stop the rotation cycle in a well-defined position, generally in a vertical position.
- the watches which are not in rotation are all in an optimal position for presentation. If the modules have been arranged to form a pyramid, it may be wise to tilt the watches when stationary in order to follow the line of the pyramid.
- the different modules are connected by a control bus which makes it possible to synchronize a set of modules. It is thus possible to start all the modules at the same time and trigger the cycle changes in a global manner.
- This embodiment allows the formation of figures using the different modules, for example to form letters with the position of the watches at rest.
- a central unit manages all of the modules to communicate positioning commands to them. This is achieved by a bus which passes from one module to another by forming a chain.

- This module includes a circular opening 1 in which is placed a watch support 2. This support is removable in order to show the watch 3 easily. The support 2 is then slid into the drum 4.
- a first green LED 5 On the front of the module is a first green LED 5 to indicate the correct functioning of the winder. This light indication is not continuous because the current consumed by the LED is greater than the consumption of the motor, and therefore considerably reduces the lifespan of the batteries. This is why the indication of operation by the green LED 5 is given by a slow flashing, for example an illumination every 4 seconds.
- a second red light indication 6 is provided. Like the operation indication, this end-of-life indication is intermittent.
- the rear of the support of the watch 2 includes a sliding part 8 which makes it possible to adjust the periphery of the support according to the length of the strap.
- this sliding part 8 is compressed so as to allow the watch to be put in place with the strap closed. Once in place, the sliding part stretches the bracelet and therefore adapts to any length of bracelet.
- this compression which activates a detector 9 locating the presence of the watch.
- This detector is in the form of a contactor which electrically connects the two axes 7a and 7b.
- the orifices placed on the drum 4 receive the two axes and are provided with electrical contacts which make it possible to use the information from the detector.
- the drum on which the watch support is mounted includes an optical indication of the position, for example by a set of bar codes.
- an optical sensor which will read these indications and communicate them to the engine control electronics.
