Abstract
Description
- The present invention relates to a device for opening a package containing goods in fluid form.
- A similar device is known from
DE 1 136 906 . - The current method of distribution via a drum, barrel or some other similar container is associated with the risk of users coming into contact with chemicals when the package is changed. The greatest risk arises when the user pours the residue from the old vessel into the new one. There are also risks when transferring hoses and similar from the old vessel to the new one.
- The principal object of the present invention is thus, in the first instance, and by simple yet efficiently and safely functioning means, to solve the aforementioned problems effectively so that the risks are minimized and emptying/changing of the package can take place in a closed system without the risk of contact between the user and the aforementioned chemical.
- The aforementioned object is achieved by means of a device in accordance with the present invention, which is characterized essentially in that an opener is present internally inside an accommodating part for a package, in that the aforementioned opener performs an opening function on a package, and in that the aforementioned opener is arranged in close association with a discharge opening which leads from the aforementioned package accommodating part.
- The invention is described below as a couple of preferred illustrative embodiments, in conjunction with which reference is made to the accompanying drawings, in which
-
Figs. 1-2 show a first preferred illustrative embodiment of an opening device for packages which contain liquid goods; and -
Figs. 3-7 show a second illustrative embodiment of the invention, where -
Fig. 3 shows a sectioned view of the device viewed from the side; -
Fig. 4 shows the device from inside an accommodating part for packages that it is wished to open; -
Fig. 5 shows the invention functioning during an opening phase; and -
Figs. 6 and 7 show the accommodating part from above and viewed from the side. - An device 1, which is intended for use to achieve opening of a
package 2, which is of the kind that contains goods 3 in fluid form, i.e. either a liquid or a powder, known as a bulk package, and which, for example, comprises acontainer 6 accommodated inside anouter casing 5, which container is produced from plastic. Anopener 9 is present internally 7 in anaccommodating part 8 for apackage 2. Theaforementioned opener 9, which can have a dismembering function, exhibits, for example, a part operating with a piercing and/or cutting function into thepackage 2 through thecontainer 6, and it is further so arranged in close association with a discharge opening 10 in theaccommodating part 8. The goods 3 are led via the aforementioned discharge opening 10 from thepackage accommodating part 8 to the intended point of use. Other appropriate methods and means can be used for the aforementioned opening and opener, such as a tool with - A guillotine-like function;
- A rotating tool such as a drill, blade or similar;
- A hot tool which melts a hole;
- A laser or similar which burns a hole;
- Mechanical scissors which cut a hole;
- A gun-like mechanism which, via compressed air or gunpowder, shoots a hole; or
- A water jet or blaster which cuts a hole.
- The
accommodating part 8 is preferably executed as a tray open in an upward 11 direction and has the aforementioned discharge opening 10 situated at thelowest part 12 of the accommodating part, such as a corner of square form on theaccommodating part 8. - The discharge opening is appropriately formed by a pipe stub 10, which is attached by welding, for example, to the downward-facing 15
bottom 13 of theaccommodating part 8 at one of its corners 14. - The
opener 9 is arranged in such a way that it is secured internally 16 in the aforementioned discharge opening 10, and it is preferably detachably accommodated in the aforementioned discharge opening 10 by means of amatching securing component 17, for example it is designed as a matching pipe or as a removable component of bent triangular form or some other form. - The
opener 9 is preferably in the form of asharp point 18 and a number ofcutting edges - An appropriate design of the
opener 9 is formed by a triangular-shaped piece of metal or ceramic material folded alone its centre line. - The
tip 18 of the opener is appropriately so arranged as to extend in adirection 21 which is essentially parallel with bothadjacent walls accommodating part 8 in the area of the discharge opening 10.Other walls aforementioned walls bottom 13 form a container open in an upward 11 direction, which matches the form of apackage 2 accommodated therein that it is wished to open, and from which it is wished to empty the contents 3. The intendedpackages 2, which are so arranged as to be opened in accordance with the above method, is formed for this purpose from anouter casing 5 which consists of cardboard, or corrugated paperboard. Aplastic container 6 is accommodated inside the aforementionedouter casing 5, which container is accessible from the outside via a tear-offcorner part 26 of theouter casing 5 at the point of opening the pack, and through which formed opening 27 in the corner the internalplastic container 6 is exposed for opening and emptying. The aforementioned internalplastic container 6 is thus so arranged as to be stiffened by theouter casing 5. - The
package 2 is so arranged with at least one of itssides opener 9 by awall accommodating part 8. - The function of the device 1 is simple but effective, and the person who handles the
packages 2 thus avoids coming into contact with the goods 3 in thecontainer 6, since opening these is effected fully automatically by theopener 9, which is fixed to the bottom of theaccommodating part 6, penetrating into thecontainer 6 when it is placed above theopener 9 in theaccommodating part 8 and sliding down under its own weight against thebottom 13 of theaccommodating part 8. The positioning of the various components means that all the goods 3 in thecontainer 6 and thepackage 2 are emptied out and are brought to the intended point of use, for example via a hose or by some other appropriate means. - The
empty package 2 is environmentally friendly, since the various constituent materials can be separated easily and placed in appropriate storage for recycling or waste, and a newfull package 2 can then be lifted up easily and lowered into theaccommodating part 8 for dismembering and opening. A funnel-like part is formed by the lower part of the accommodating part in the area over theopener 9 when theaccommodating part 8 is positioned in a slightly inclined attitude, as shown inFig. 1 . - The device shown in
Figs 3-7 serves the same purpose as the invention but is not part of the invention. The device shown inFigs. 3-7 , presents anaccommodating part 108 being formed by an angled part only with anopening 110 in thecorner 114 thereon, and anopener 109 is secured to the bottom of the aforementionedaccommodating part 108 with itstip 118, for example, facing obliquely upwards towards the direction of introduction of a package. This means that theopener 109 cannot, as is the case for the construction shown inFigs. 1-2 , be removed for cleaning or, possibly, for sharpening or replacement, but the construction is instead simpler and can be replaced entirely if required. - The function and the nature of the invention should have been appreciated from the above description and illustrations, and the invention may be varied within the scope of the Patent Claims.
- The invention permits the safe and easy handling of packages, such as special cartridge packages, containing compact base components in the absence of handling risks.
- The aforementioned cartridge packages can be adapted in their size, form and weight to suit the personnel, who must be able to lift them easily and place them in position in the device.
