Abstract

The expanding bracelet has bars (5) which connect the links (2 - 4). Each bar has a groove near each end separating the main bar from a frusto-conical head. The heads are positioned in stepped recesses (16, 17) in the top and bottom of each link and are held in place by tubular sleeves (6) with an annular head. An Independent claim is included for a method for assembling the bracelet.

Description

The present invention relates to a link bracelet comprising a plurality of bars serving as means of connection and articulation between the links and means for holding said bars in said links.

We know a multitude of versions of link bracelet using bars serving as means of connection and articulation between the links as well as a multitude of embodiments showing how these bars are maintained in the links.

When metal links are used, we very often use bars driven into holes drilled in the links. This is not not possible if the links are made of brittle and brittle material, for example ceramic. It will be understood that hunting can burst a material brittle.

To overcome this difficulty, bracelets have been proposed (see par example, the document CH 600 815) comprising an inner chain made of steel and supporting all mechanical constraints, this interior chain being dressed by decorative links slipped or threaded on the inner chain. This solution has the drawback of being complex and of having a high cost price.

To remedy the drawbacks of the solutions proposed above, the document EP 0 950 364 proposes a bar of which at least one end is split, this end being arranged to cooperate with a blocking piece penetrating into the slot of said end and thus fixing the bar to the link. This last solution has the disadvantage of requiring a welded blocking piece, glued or chased in the link to prevent any dislocation untimely bracelet.

The disadvantages mentioned above are avoided if one implements the teaching provided by the present invention according to which each bar is held axially by at least one of its ends to a link by means a flanged sleeve designed and arranged to rest on means of retainers carried both by the bar and by the link.

The present invention is also original by the method of assembling the various elements constituting the bracelet, a process which will be described in detail below.

  • la figure 1 est une coupe vue en plan d'une première forme d'exécution de l'invention;
  • la figure 2 est une vue en perspective de la barrette utilisée en figure 1, vue sur laquelle sont également représentées en perspective des douilles à collerette faisant l'objet principal de l'invention;
The characteristics and advantages of the invention will now emerge from the description which follows, made with reference to the appended drawings and giving, by way of explanation, but in no way limiting, several advantageous embodiments of the invention, drawings in which:
  • Figure 1 is a sectional plan view of a first embodiment of the invention;
  • Figure 2 is a perspective view of the bar used in Figure 1, view on which are also shown in perspective of the collar sockets which are the main object of the invention;
  • FIG. 3 is a sectional plan view of a second embodiment of the invention, and
  • Figure 4 is a sectional plan view of a third embodiment of the invention.

A first embodiment of the invention is shown in Figure 1. Here the bracelet has only one row of links 50, of which it has been shown that three links referenced 2, 3 and 4. As shown in Figure 1, two links successive, for example links 2 and 3, are linked and articulated one following the other by means of a bar 5. This bar 5 is housed in three aligned holes, either the holes 17 of the link 2 aligned with the hole 25 of the link 3. Figure 1 shows appear the axial holding means of the bar 5 in the link 2 consisting, according to a characteristic of the present invention, in a socket with flange 6 (shown in section in Figure 1 and in perspective in Figure 2) disposed at each end 13 and 24 of the bar, this collar sleeve 6 being designed and arranged to rest on retaining means 7 and 8 carried at the same time by the bar 5 and by the link 2, retaining means, one embodiment of which goes be explained now.

Figures 1 and 2 show that the bar 5 comprises at each of its ends 13 and 24 a cylindrical groove 9 which precedes a head 10. The head 10 has a lower shoulder 7 and a frustoconical vertex 12. Each end 13 and 24 of the bar 5 is engaged in a housing 14 drilled in the link 2. This housing 14 has a first hole 15 which opens onto a wall 16 of the link 2, this first hole 15 being followed by a second hole 17 of smaller diameter than the first. As seen in Figure 1 and perhaps even better on the Figure 4 which is drawn on a larger scale, the first and second holes 15 and 17 form a shoulder 8. From the same figures it also appears that a socket with flange 6 is housed between the cylindrical groove 9 of the bar 5 and the inner wall the second hole 17, this socket 16 being made in one piece with a cylindrical body 18 and a flange 19. Figures 1 and 4 finally show that the flange 19 is taken sandwiched between the shoulder 8 formed by the first and second holes 15 and 17 and the lower shoulder 7 of the head 10 for axially holding the bar 5 either in the link 2 in Figure 1, or in the link 31 in Figure 4. The collar socket 6 has over its entire length a slot 20 whose function will be explained later when we talk about the bracelet assembly process.

As seen above, a collar sleeve 6 is arranged at each ends 13 and 24 of the bar 5 to immobilize the latter.

With regard to FIG. 1, these ends 13 and 24 are housed at both ends of the same link 2 and the same bar 5 crosses the hole 25 of the link 3 to link and articulate link 2 on link 3. The same goes for links 3 and 4.

Turning now to FIG. 4, it can be seen that the ends 13 and 24 of the bar 5 are each capped with a collar sleeve 6. The ends are housed respectively in first and second lateral links 31 and 35 of a bracelet which further comprises, by assembly step, three central links 32, 33 and 34, the central links 32 and 34 in contact with the lateral links 31 and 35 being offset by half a step to thereby form a bracelet comprising five rows of links, i.e. two rows 26 and 30 of side links and three rows 27, 28 and 29 of central links. As seen in Figure 4, the end of the bracelet can include a link 36 in one piece, for example serving as a junction for a clasp.

Figure 3 shows that the flanged sleeve 6 may only be arranged at one first end of the bar. This is the case of the bar 40 of Figure 3 where the first end 13 is capped with a collar sleeve according to the invention, the second end 21 of the bar 40 having a head 22 resting on a shoulder 23 presented by the link 42. This way of doing for the second end 21 has already been described in document EP 0 950 364 cited above.

It will also be noted, with regard to FIG. 3, that we have placed in alternating bars 5 provided at each of their ends with a bushing flange, and bars 40 provided at only one of their ends with a bushing flange, a variant of this arrangement which may consist in placing the bars 40 head to tail. We will also observe that the bracelet of Figure 3 is the same invoice as that of Figure 4 since equipped with five rows of links. However, the alternation of bars 5 and 40 could of course be postponed on the bracelet of FIG. 1 comprising only a single row 50 of links, this alternation of bars being dictated essentially by a better aesthetic appearance side sides of the bracelet.

The idea of holding the bar axially by means of at least one socket flange was born above all from the concern of not subjecting the link to constraints exaggerated mechanics that could damage it and even burst it if it holding was achieved by hunting in a brittle and / or hard material such as ceramic, hard metal, PCD diamond (Polykristalline Diamond), or CVD diamond. As is apparent from the preceding description, the links do not do not require special machining, such as threading and can advantageously be made of pressed ceramic using ceramic powder at the start compressed in a mold to form a blank which is then sintered to ensuring the cohesion of the powder.

On terminera cette description en exposant un procédé d'assemblage du bracelet, par exemple le bracelet dessiné en figure 1.We will end this description by exposing a method of assembling the bracelet, for example the bracelet drawn in Figure 1.

We start by providing a bar 5 (see Figure 2) intended to receive each of its ends 13 and 24 a collar sleeve 6. On the first end 13 of this bar, a first collar socket is mounted, forcing this collar sleeve to pass over the head 10. As the diameter of the head 10 is larger than the inner bore of the flanged sleeve, it was used in this last a slot 20 over its entire length which allows the spacing of the sleeve to collar when it passes over the head. Note that the introduction of the socket to flange 6 on the head 10 is facilitated by a top 12 of the head 10 rendered truncated. Finally the collar sleeve takes place in the cylindrical groove 9 of the bar 5 after passing over the head 10. As the cylindrical groove 9 has a diameter slightly greater than the internal bore of the collar sleeve 6, a good tightening is thus ensured from one part to another.

The bar 5 is then introduced by its free end 24 into the holes 17 and 25 arranged in a row of the two links 2 and 3 together.

This montage being finished, each of the flanges 19 of the first and second sockets to flange 6 is then sandwiched between the shoulder 8 formed by the first and second holes 15 and 17 drilled in the link 2 and the lower shoulder 7 of the head 10, which axially holds the bar 5 in the link 2

The same assembly process is used to assemble a bracelet with several rows of links, for example the bracelet shown in Figure 4. In this case the first end 13 of the bar 5 is retained by a first collar sleeve in a first lateral link 31 and the second end 24 of the bar 5 is retained by a second flanged sleeve in a second link lateral 35, while the same bar 5 passes through the central links 32, 33 and 34.

Both by the number of pieces used in its composition and by its assembly process, the bracelet using the collar socket of the invention is very advantageous as regards its cost price, that it comprises a single row of links or more of these rows.

One might however wonder whether the flanged sleeve 6 of the invention does not could not be reduced to a single flange 19 without a socket 18. Tests performed by the depositor have shown that a single washer does not provide a seat sufficient and good centering of the bar in the link, after which the remaining washer quickly deteriorates to eventually lead to dislocation of the bracelet.
