Definitions

  • the invention relates to a painting system with a Spray device for applying coating material to an object, especially one Motor vehicle body, with two in a row switched as an intermediate reservoir Containers and with a separator for electrostatic isolation at least one of the Receptacle and the downstream spraying device against a feed side so that at least one Receptacle and the sprayer opposite to that painting object during the coating process can be brought to high voltage.
  • Such electrostatic painting devices are e.g. from US 5 340 289 known.
  • To almost the entire amount of paint on the to be able to apply the painting object Spray device and one arranged in front Paint container on the painting device High voltage in the order of more than 50 kV compared to the paint to be kept at earth potential Brought object. Because of the resulting electric field, almost the entire amount of paint is applied applied the object to be painted and the Waste minimized accordingly.
  • first container above the second container which as such open container is designed to be arranged so that the Coating material due to gravity from the top Containers in the second container below can reach, and that over a free-flowing Drain from the first tank.
  • open container is designed to be arranged so that the Coating material due to gravity from the top Containers in the second container below can reach, and that over a free-flowing Drain from the first tank.
  • Such an arrangement already has a continuous coating operation the first upper container during the Coating company filled from the second container, in Connection to this from the supply side electrostatically isolated and disconnected and on the high voltage of the second lower container is brought. In this condition is a refill of the lower container by opening the freely emptying drain of the upper container and thus continuous production operations possible. The High voltage on the upper container can then again switched off and the container for refilling with the Feed side to be connected.
  • a serious disadvantage is the fact that the second lower container designed as an open container have to be. Solvent vapors escape, and it does there is a risk of contamination in the second Can reach containers. Furthermore, it is difficult to second container with solvent, for example clean.
  • the present invention has for its object a Painting system of the type mentioned above improve that with a structurally simple structure without that Requirement of mechanical decoupling of the components a loss-free continuous conveyor operation possible and the disadvantages described above are not occur.
  • Pig bodies are known per se; at least they are like that Resiliently trained to be minimal Excessively insertable in a pipe means and in substantially resilient elastic against the inside of the Line means are applied and still movable are. If flexible ducting means for example made of plastic materials Hoses are used, so can also in essential unyielding pig bodies are used. The use of pig bodies in painting facilities however, was only used for cleaning purposes.
  • a pig in conjunction with one from an electrical insulating material formed a line section electrostatic separator can be formed at which can only be done by moving the pig through the Line section an electrostatic insulation at a High voltage painting device can be achieved without that mechanical separation of components of the Painting equipment is required.
  • By moving through of the pig through the line section becomes its interior Surface as if by a lip or squeegee from any electrically conductive liquid (Coating material, detergent) and it can high-voltage insulation can thereby be achieved.
  • the invention is not electrically or in the essential non-conductive voltage insulation over the Length of pigged line section reached. This includes it is understood that when a voltage of 100 kV over a length of the line section of approx. 300 mm Current flow less than 50 ⁇ A, preferably less than 30 ⁇ A.
  • the Piston means can be a minimal with coating material limit fillable volume, which is in view of a Solvent cleaning proves to be very advantageous because not the entire volume of the receptacle Solvent needs to be filled.
  • the Return movement can be beneficial under the action of the coating material take place, for example, in that a control pressure within the second receptacle is specified, which with appropriate ventilation of the said line section the pig in the opposite Pushes back direction while doing the second Fills the line section again with coating material.
  • the figure shows a painting installation according to the invention, which for coating an object using a color changer 2 with a ring line system, not shown, which for example different paint colors, solvents and can also lead to compressed air.
  • a color changer 2 closes a pressure control device 4 and a quantity metering device 6.
  • the paint shop further includes a first and a second as Intermediate reservoir serving receptacles 8 and 10, respectively are designed as closed pressure vessels.
  • the a second receptacle 10 is connected downstream Spray device 12, by means of which Coating material atomized and towards you applied or sprayed on the coated object can be.
  • the feed side of the first receptacle 8 is one electrostatic separator 16 and 14 provided to the second receptacle 10 and the spray device 12 towards an object to be coated To bring high voltage.
  • the feed side Separating device 16 can counter the first receptacle 8 the supply side insulated and brought to high voltage become.
  • Both separating devices 14 and 16 comprise one Line section 18 or 20 made of insulating material and a pig 22 or 24 movable therein. 24 is within the respective line section 16 or 18 with a control valve 26 or 28 on one side Compressed air can be applied and to the right in the figure movable.
  • the pig 22, 24 limits the in the Line section 18, 20 located color column and displaces this to the right in the figure, i.e. in the respective receptacle 8, 10 into it.
  • the squeegee Newt 22, 24 the color of the inner surface of the Line sections 18, 20. So these are quasi from electrically conductive coating material cleaned, and it can provide high voltage insulation in this way can be achieved.
  • the length of the line sections 18, 20 is at least 300 mm and it could in this way high voltage insulation can be achieved such that when a high voltage of 100 kV is applied across the Line section 18, 20 a current of less than 50 ⁇ A, preferably less than 30 ⁇ A, could be measured, which has proven to be sufficiently isolating.
  • a high voltage of 100 kV is applied across the Line section 18, 20 a current of less than 50 ⁇ A, preferably less than 30 ⁇ A, could be measured, which has proven to be sufficiently isolating.
  • a painting cycle is described below.
  • both Piston means 34, 36 are in the lower position.
  • the respective position of the piston means 34, 36 can by Level sensors 38, 40 determined and to control or regulatory purposes.
  • the two pigs 22, 24 are located in its left end position in the figure.
  • opening all valves in the paint supply to the Spray device 12 can coating material from the Ring line system up to the second receptacle 10 reach.
  • An adjoining shut-off valve 42 in the line to the spray device 12 is closed.
  • the entire paint shop is at earth potential.
  • the second receptacle 10 and the downstream spray device 12 can now High voltage (about 100 kV) and the Coating process can after opening the valve 42 and Commissioning of a further conveyor device 54 and a pressure regulator 56 can be started.
  • the first receptacle 8 fills what is expedient in that the pressure is above the piston means 36 is lowered to atmospheric pressure.
  • a desired level which is indicated by the Level sensors 40 can be determined is about the control valve 28 compressed air on the in the drawing left side of the pig 24, and the pig 24 is in the figure moves to the right until it is in front of the valve 32 reached its end position.
  • the first container 8 and the components connected to it are now also on the same high voltage as the second one Receiving container 10 and the spray device 12 brought.
  • the Valve 30 opened and due to that within the second Receiving container 10 prevailing higher pressure Atmospheric pressure in the first receptacle 8, and in the Line section 18 is the pig 2 through Coating material from the second container 10 back in its left end position moves, that with the reference symbol 58 and slightly to the left of the mouth of the Outlet line 60 from the first container 8 is provided.
  • the first container 8 can now be opened again Ground potential and by opening valve 32 the pig 24 in its right end position can again in the left end position shown in the figure be moved, and under the effect of the rest of the Container 8 located coating material. Of the Container 8 can then be refilled.
