Für die Deformation des Drehschalters in sich sind Freiräume zu schaffen, in die der Drehknopf bzw. das Drehknopf-unterteil eintauchen können, wozu diese Freiräume im jeweiligen Gegenstück eingebracht sind. In Fig. 1 ist in einer vereinfachten Darstellung ein Drehschalter 1, hier als Drehsteller, dargestellt, der aus einem hohlen Drehknopf 2 besteht, das mit einem Drehknopfunterteil 3 zusammenwirkt und in einer Blende 4, beispielsweise einer Frontblende eines Kraftfahrzeuges, eingebaut ist.
Für die Realisierung der Kopfaufschlagkriterien besitzt das Drehknopfunterteil 3 ( oder hierbei nicht näher dargestellt der Drehknopf 2) um seinen äußeren Umfang verteilt Federelemente 5, die in Aussparungen des Drehknopfunterteils 3 oder des Drehknopfes 2 eingebracht sind. Zwischen dem Drehknopf 2 und dem Drehknopfunterteil 3 ist ein Freiraum 8 vorgesehen. Weiterhin weist der Drehsteller 1 im Drehknopfunterteil 3 eine Durchführung 9, beispielsweise für ein Lichteinkopplung (nicht näher dargestellt) auf. Die verquetschten Teile und das Drehknopfunterteil 3 werden dabei in den Freiraum 8 im Drehknopf 2 gedrückt.

In einer weiteren Ausführung Fig. 3 ist im Drehknopf 2 wie aus Fig. 1 beispielsweise eine Taste 13 integriert, die durch einen Halter 14 mechanisch gehalten wird. Dabei ist das Drehknopfunterteil 3 auf dem Halter 14 gelagert. Die Taste 13 weist senkrechte Führungsnute 13.1 auf, in die der Halter 14 mit seinen Haltefingern 14.1 eingreift. Für eine gleichmäßige Tastung sind vorzugsweise drei Führungsnute 13.1 vorzusehen. Der Tastweg ist hierbei durch eine Einsenkung 2.1 im Drehknopfoberteil 2 begrenzt. Ist die Taste 13 wie in diesem Ausführungsbeispiel ein hohles Tastelement, greifen die Haltefinger 14.1 vorzugsweise von innen in die Führungsnute 13.1 ein.
Die Taste 13 besitzt einen Lichtleiter 15 , der vorzugsweise einseitig innerhalb der Taste 13 geführt wird und in den Kopfbereich der Taste 13 zur Ausleuchtung einer Tastensymbolik 16 hineinragt. Dieser Lichtleiter 15 greift auf einen Kontaktdom 17, der eine zentrische Durchführung 17.1 für das Licht eines Lichtelementes 18 einer Leiterplatte 19, beispielsweise eine LED, aufweist.
