Definitions
- the present invention relates to a pump for mounting on a container, type comprising two parts movable with respect to each other, defining between a variable volume pumping chamber, a first part comprising a first wall defining a product supply passage, through which the product contained in the container can reach the pumping chamber, a second part comprising a second wall defining a product outlet passage through which the product contained can leave the pumping chamber, the pump comprising a membrane having first and second parts, the first part being arranged on the outside of the first wall defining the intake passage, so as to be applied under the effect of pressure in the pumping chamber on this wall to close off said intake passage when the volume of the pumping chamber decreases.
- the product does not exit in the axis of the pump, which can be annoying when the pump is intended to be surmounted by a dispensing nozzle.
- the new pump according to the invention is characterized in that the product outlet passage and the second part of the membrane are arranged on the radially inner side of the second wall defining the outlet passage, the second part being arranged so as to be applied to this wall under the effect of the vacuum in the pumping chamber for closing said outlet passage when the volume of the pumping chamber increases, and so as to deform radially inwards to let the product contained in the pumping chamber flow towards the outside of the pump when the volume of the pumping chamber decreases.
- the output of the product can be carried out in the invention in the axis of the pump, which can be advantageous.
- the aforementioned first part of the pump is fixed and integral with the container.
- the membrane is integral with the first part of the pump and the second part of the diaphragm can move axially relative to the wall defining the outlet passage while closing the latter when the volume of the pumping chamber increases.
- the membrane is integral with the second part of the pump and the first part of the diaphragm can move axially relative to to the wall defining the inlet passage while closing it off when the volume of the pumping chamber decreases.
- the first and second parts of the membrane are tubular.
- the first and second parts of the membrane form a cylinder, advantageously a symmetrical cylinder of revolution.
- the wall defining the supply passage is tubular and the first part of the membrane is arranged around it.
- the wall defining the passage outlet is also tubular and the second part of the membrane is inserted at inside of it.
- the wall defining the passage outlet is cylindrical in revolution, as is the outer surface of the second part of the membrane opposite it.
- the wall defining the passage inlet is cylindrical of revolution, has at least one lateral opening, and the inner surface of the first part of the membrane opposite it is cylindrical of revolution.
- the membrane comprises a partition transverse between its first and second parts.
- this transverse partition comes in axial support on the wall defining the supply passage.
- an elastic return means is provided to bring back the second part of the pump in an initial position in which the volume of the pumping chamber is maximum.
- This elastic return means is preferably made in one piece by plastic molding with the membrane.
- the elastic return means comprises a rim against which the wall can bear, defining the outlet passage and a transverse partition able to stretch elastically under the effect of the displacement of the wall defining the exit passage.
- the membrane comprises a part symmetrical of revolution having in axial section an H shape.
- the membrane comprises at its periphery an annular rim, L-shaped, against which comes to bear the wall defining the exit passage.
- Such a membrane can be easily produced by molding.
- the invention also relates to a container equipped with a pump. according to the invention.
- the pump 10 shown in Figures 1 to 3 has a fixed part 11 to subject the neck 12 of a container 13 and a movable part 14 capable of moving along the axis X of the neck 12 relative to the fixed part 11.
- the fixed 11 and movable 14 parts can be made of material rigid or semi-rigid thermoplastic.
- the fixed part 11 comprises a tubular body 15 so engaged sealed in the neck 12 of the container 13, this body 15 being closed at the bottom by a bottom wall 16 and extended outwards, halfway up, by a flange ring 17 snapped onto the neck 12.
- the bottom wall 16 is crossed in its center by a chimney 19 with an axis X, the lower part 20 of which receives a dip tube 21 and the upper part 22 is used for mounting a membrane 30, as will be explained below.
- a channel 24 is formed in the thickness of the wall of the body 15 to allow air to be taken up during pump operation, as will be specified later.
- the body 15 has in the upper part, on its radially surface inner 29, a shoulder 26 which limits the upward stroke of the movable part 14.
- the latter comprises a transverse wall 27, provided at its periphery of two annular sealing lips 28 mounted with sealed sliding along the X axis on the surface 29 of the body 15.
- the channel 24 opens when the movable part 14 is in its position initial, between the annular lips 28 through an orifice 58.
- a dispensing nozzle 40 protrudes upwards on the wall transverse 27.
- This nozzle 40 has any suitable form for the distribution of the product or mounting on the movable part 14 of a dispensing head.
- a tubular skirt 41 of axis X protrudes downwards under the wall transverse 27.
- the membrane 30 is made of any flexible material, preferably a elastomer and in the example of embodiment described, it is symmetrical of revolution with an H shape in axial section.
- any suitable material can be used to make the membrane, for example example an elastomer as in the example described. You can use EMA or PE, for example.
- the membrane 30 has a first part 31 and a second part 32 cylindrical of axis X revolution, separated by a transverse partition 33 perpendicular to the X axis, this partition 33 resting on its underside on the upper end of the chimney 19.
- the first part 31 of the membrane 30 is shorter than the second part 32, the length of the latter being greater than the travel stroke towards the bottom of the mobile part 14 during the dispensing of a dose.
- a helical spring 50 working in compression, bears against its upper end on a shoulder 51 formed at the connection of the tubular skirt 41 and the transverse wall 27 and at its lower end on the upper face of the partition 33, thus keeping the latter pressed against the chimney 19.
- the first part 31 of the membrane 30 has a surface radially inner symmetrical of axis X revolution, coming to rest at rest on the radially outer surface of the chimney 19, also cylindrical with revolution, crossed by a lateral opening 52.
- the movable part 14 defines with the fixed part 11 a pumping 57 of variable volume, the chimney 19 defining a supply passage of the produces in this pumping chamber 57 and the tubular skirt 41 a passage of exit.
- the operation of the pump 10 is as follows.
- the second part 32 of the membrane is deformed radially inward and a clearance is created between the radially inner surface 54 of the skirt tubular 41 and the radially outer surface of the second part 32 of the membrane 30, allowing the product contained in the pumping chamber 57 to flow outside the pump through the dispensing nozzle 40.
- the second part 32 of the membrane can be inserted into the side skirt 41.
- the orifice 58 of the channel 24 is located above the latter and communicates with the ambient air.
- the volume of the pumping chamber 57 increases and a vacuum develops. creates inside of it.
- the second part 32 of the membrane 30 is plate by its radially outer surface on the radially inner surface of the tubular skirt 41, thereby closing the outlet passage.
- the first part 31 of the membrane 30 can deviate from the chimney 19 and thus allow the product contained in the container to gain the pumping chamber 57 through the opening 52, as illustrated in figure 3.
- the channel 24 makes it possible to ensure an air intake in the container, to compensate for the departure of the product.
- the second part 32 of the membrane 30 slides in leaktight manner inside the skirt tubular 41.
- the pump 10 ' has a fixed part 11' and a mobile part 14 ' defining a pumping chamber 57 of variable volume.
- the fixed part 11 ' has a substantially longer chimney 19' as the chimney 19 previously described.
- the membrane 30 ' has a symmetrical central part of revolution having in axial section the shape of an H, with a first part 31 'engaged on the chimney 19 ', a transverse partition 33' in axial support on this chimney 19 'and a second part 32 'engaged inside the tubular skirt 41'.
- the membrane 30 'further comprises an annular rim 63 having in axial section an L shape, the lower end of the tubular skirt 41 'coming in support on the base of this rim 63.
- the height of the membrane 30 'between the partition 33' and the end lower of the first part 31 ' is greater than that of the opening 52', so that the latter can also be closed.
- the part of the membrane 30 'constituted by the partition 33' and the part tubular 65 which extends axially between this partition 33 'and the base of the rim 63 is prestressed, so as to exert a restoring force maintaining the movable part 14 'bearing against the shoulder 26 of the fixed part 11'.
- the volume of the pumping chamber 57 decreases and the overpressure created in this causes the inward deformation of the first part 32 '.
- Product can then gain through the opening 62 the outlet passage defined by the tubular skirt 41 '.
- the overpressure in the pumping chamber 57 keeps the first part 31 'of the membrane 30' against the chimney 19 ', so that the opening 52 'is closed.
- the first part 31 'of the membrane 30' can slide in leaktight manner over the chimney 19 '.
- the volume of the pumping chamber 57 increases and a depression inside of it.
- This depression has the effect of pressing the second part 32 ′ of the membrane 30 'against the radially inner surface of the tubular skirt 41', thus closing the opening 62.
- Channel 24 allows air intake.
- the membrane is secured to the fixed part 11 or 11 '.
- a 10 "pump is partially shown comprising a movable part 14 ", a fixed part 11", and a membrane 30 ".
- the fixed part 11 has a chimney 19", which differs from the chimneys 19 or 19 ′ by the fact that it is closed at its upper end by a wall 70.
- the chimney 19 has a lateral opening 52".
- the movable part 14 "has a tubular skirt 41", not having no side opening.
- the membrane 30 has a first part 31" which can slide on the chimney 19 "and a second part 32" retained axially in the skirt 41 "tubular.
- a helical spring 50 working in compression, bears against its upper end on the shoulder 51 and at its lower end on the wall upper 70 of the 19 "chimney.
- the membrane 30 has at its upper end a flange 71, directed outwards, snapped into an annular groove 72 of the tubular skirt 41 ".
- the membrane 30 " has lateral openings 73 passing through its second part 32 ".
- the tubular skirt 41 "extends below these openings 73.
- the first part 31 "of the membrane 30" also applies to sealingly on the chimney 19 "and the opening 52" thereof is closed.
- the overpressure in the pumping chamber 57 causes the deformation towards the inside of the second part 32 "of the membrane 30" and a clearance is created between the tubular skirt 41 "and the membrane 30", this play allowing the compressed product in the pumping chamber 57 to reach the dispensing nozzle 40 through the openings 73.
- the first part 31 can slide tightly on the chimney 19 "during the downward movement of the movable part 14".
- the spring 50 recalls it moving upwards and a vacuum is created in the pumping chamber 57.
- the first part 31 "of the membrane 30 moves away from the chimney 19" and from the product contained in the container can reach the pumping chamber 57 through the opening 52 ".
- the membrane 30 is provided with a transverse partition like the membranes 30 or 30 ', and present in axial section, a form of H.
- the wall 70 can optionally be removed.
- the spring helical 50 can be housed inside the tubular skirt of the mobile part forming a push button or alternatively be disposed outside of the pumping, without contact with the product.
