Die Erfindung betrifft eine automatisch gesteuerte Waschmaschine mit einem Laugenumwälzsystem, bei dem am Boden eines Wäschebehandlungsraumes mittels einer Pumpe Lauge abgeführt und über eine Rohrleitung oberhalb der im Behandlungsraum befindlichen Wäsche diesem wieder zugeführt wird, welche Waschmaschine femer an eine Frischwasserzuleitung angeschlossen ist, die durch ein Ventil geöffnet oder geschlossen werden kann, das durch eine zur Feststellung eines in der Förderrichtung der Pumpe vorhandenen Volumenstromes geeignete Sensoreinrichtung steuerbar ist. Eine solche Waschmaschine ist durch die DE-A-43 32 225 bekannt. Bei dieser Waschmaschine ist zum ständigen Durchfluten der in der Waschtrommel befindlichen Wäsche mittels Wasch- oder Spüllauge am Boden des Laugenbehälters ein Laugenumwälzsystem angeschlossen. Dieses besteht aus einer Rohrleitung, in deren Zuge eine Laugenpumpe und eine Sensoreinrichtung angeordnet sind. Durch die Sensoreinrichtung wird das Vorhandensein einer Strömung in der Rohrleitung erfaßt. Die Sensoreinrichtung gibt in Abhängigkeit vom Vorhandensein oder Nichtvorhandensein einer Strömung in der Rohrleitung ein entsprechendes Signal an das im Zuge der Frischwasserzuleitung angeordnete Ventil ab, wodurch entweder die Frischwasserzufuhr eingeleitet oder gesperrt wird.
