Abstract

Figure 00000001
The device for cleaning metals consists of a plug (12, 34, 91) made of insulating material, which is placed between the electrode (10, 26, 46) with a beak shape (11, 52, 94) and the metal (8) to be cleaned , and from an alternating current source (2) with low voltage, which is also connected to the metal (7) with the other electrode; a pump supplies the above-mentioned stopper with a high-density and very aggressive acidic solution; the stopper consists of a relatively thick stocking or band. The device is equipped with slots (36) through which the gases and vapors produced during processing are drawn off by means of a suction fan (40) and then passed through a moisture filter (41) for separation. Different beak shapes are provided and there is the possibility of exchanging the beak ends (28, 94, 98). The beak is preferably made with holes through which the acidic solution is passed. The body of the beak (97) and the replaceable end (94, 98) can be coated with a film (101, 100) of insulating material which protects them from undesired short circuits and which concentrates the electrolytic action on the end face (102) of the beak . Fabric or felt made of polyether ether ketone should preferably be selected as the insulating material for the stopper. The greatest service life and the greatest amount of work can be achieved by using a double-layer plug (92, 93), the inner layer of which is made of fabric (92) and the outer layer of which is made of felt (93).
