Definitions
- the present invention relates to a plastic screw cap for bottles, consisting of from a substantially cylindrical jacket with an internal thread for screwing on the external thread of a bottle neck, and with a substantially circular disc Head plate and a substantially cylindrical and from the inside of the Head plate axially inwardly extending sealing strip, whose outer diameter in corresponds approximately to the outer bottle neck diameter or is slightly larger and whose inner diameter is clearly smaller than the outer bottle neck edge, being radial outside the weather strip at the transition from the top plate to the jacket of the Closure a bead is provided with an approximately cylindrical inner surface, the Inner diameter at most equal to and preferably slightly less than the sum of Bottle neck diameter and twice the thickness of the weather strip.
- the well-known plastic screw closure is for screwing onto the threaded neck of Bottles provided and designed so that the approximately cylindrical sealing strip from above and outside on the bottle neck rim and essentially along the upper outer, rounded edge of the bottle neck or bottle mouth fits tightly.
- the sealing strip is also between an outer, clamped in approximately cylindrical bead and the bottle neck and in firm sealing engagement pulled and pressed with the bottle neck rim.
- it would be one Closure also for plastic bottles, e.g. PET bottles, usable.
- closure cap has already become known, which is particularly useful should ensure good sealing engagement. Instead of a roughly cylindrical sealing strip
- this known closure cap is approximately horizontal extending sealing strip, which rests on the upper edge of the bottle neck, whereby
- annular projections are provided on the bottom or the top plate of the closure cap are on the side of the sealing strip opposite the edge of the bottle neck engage with this and apply a linear sealing pressure to the Should exert sealing strips.
- the inner surface of a bottle neck is in general at least in the case of PET bottles fairly precisely defined, but may well be damaged, so that the Projection of the sealing olive despite its essentially linear engagement with the The inside of the bottle neck cannot guarantee a secure seal.
- the sealing lead in the known closure is also at a considerable distance from the approach of the sealing lamella provided on the head plate, so that there are none in the region of the projection result in very high elastic restoring or pressing forces.
- An essentially radially extending sealing lamella partially covers that outer, generally well-defined, rounded bottle neck rim, but also may be damaged, however, just like the sealing olive, does not cover the inner, slightly rounded Edge of the bottle neck rim.
- EP 0076778 discloses a sealing cap with a sealing ring and a sealing olive known.
- the sealing ring is, tapering in diameter, obliquely inwards directed, so that the demolding is difficult to accomplish and also the Sealing function of the sealing ring is worse, since the sealing ring is only under pressure on the Bottleneck edge hangs up and not, as with the essentially cylindrical axially on the inside of the headstock, inward-extending weather strips, while stretching on the bottle neck slides open.
- the known closures therefore have at least partial manufacturing problems and especially when demolding and, on the other hand, do not yet guarantee an absolutely secure seal in the event of minor damage or deformation of the bottle neck rim or in harsh transportation conditions and high temperatures.
- the object of the present invention is to create a plastic screw closure with the features mentioned at the outset, which prevents leaks even better and which also if possible should be easy to demold to make it as simple as possible To facilitate injection mold.
- the plastic screw closure has the further features that a further, essentially cylindrical sealing strip, hereinafter referred to as sealing olive, with a cross-sectional shape which approximately corresponds to an olive, radially inside the cylindrical sealing strip, is provided, the outer diameter of which, at least in the area near the head plate and opposite the sealing strip, is larger than the inner diameter of a bottle neck for which the closure is provided, and that the deviation (
- an inner sealing olive is also provided, which also Seals the inner surface at the top of the bottle neck.
- This sealing olive also in the sealing strip located near the head plate opposite area, i.e. in the area where screwed onto a bottle Closure usually also the top edges of the bottle neck, still has a larger outside diameter than the inside diameter of the bottle neck or the bottle neck edge in this area, so that the inner Sealing olive is pushed radially inwards and thereby seals against the inner surface of the bottle neck edge.
- the clear distance between the sealing strip and the sealing olive must be smaller than it corresponds to the thickness of the bottle neck rim.
- the clear distance between sealing strips and sealing olive in the sealing area less than two thirds, possibly even is less than half the thickness of the bottle neck. Since the sealing olive as well as the Sealing strips preferably consist of the plastic material of the closure, they have sufficient elasticity to be attached or screwed on Closure to be pushed away by the edge of the bottle neck, but due to the occurring elastic restoring forces in very firm, sealing engagement with the upper Bottle neck edge to come.
- the Sealing olive on its outside has a flat bead, which in cross section approximately Has the shape of an obtuse-angled triangle.
- the sealing olive is preferably rounded and / or beveled, so that with the axial movement in the direction of the bottle neck the sealing olive actually is pressed radially inwards and does not sit on the edge of the bottle neck or even radially is pushed outwards.
- the sealing strip is also on in the preferred embodiment its free end has a rounded and / or beveled shape so that it is axial Moving radially outward towards the bottle neck when it is spreading the neck of the bottle comes into engagement.
- the olive in the preferred embodiment is approximately twice as thick and at least 50% longer (in the axial direction) than the sealing strip.
- the axial length of the sealing olive is preferably approximately twice the axial length Length of the weather strip.
- the deviation of the outer diameter the sealing olive of the diameter of the bottle neck edge, at least in the Area where the seal essentially occurs is less than the corresponding deviation of the inner diameter of the sealing strip from the outer diameter of the Bottleneck edge, because the sealing strip is thinner and shorter and therefore more elastic is stretchable and movable away.
- the outer surfaces of the sealing olive and the inner surface of the sealing strip preferably run essentially parallel across the axial extent of the sealing strip, i.e. one has an approximately constant clearance over the length of the sealing strip Width between sealing olive and sealing strip, and the outer surface of the sealing motif runs doing so, especially in the axial height of the end of the sealing strip parallel to the beveled and rounded shape of the same. So in cross section it has between the sealing olive and sealing strips formed a narrow, slightly concave curved and above cavity rounded shape, is open at the bottom and closed at the top.
- the one from The cavity which is slightly curved upwards, has a cross section essentially constant width and tapers only at its upper closed and rounded end, the upper section, relative to the closure axis, almost is cylindrical, and the lower section is tapered towards the outside.
- the axial length of the cavity which is significantly narrower than the associated bottle neck, is included defined by the length of the outer weather strip, which in turn is relatively short, so that when screwed onto a bottle neck, it was just the outer, rounded one Bottleneck rim completely covered. This leaves the narrow cavity between Sealing olive and sealing strips axially correspondingly short, which means the manufacturing process and the design of a corresponding injection molding tool is also easy.
- this cavity has an axial depth (corresponding to the axial length of the weather strip) of less than 4 mm, preferably less than 3 mm and in particular about 2 to 2.5 mm.
- the free end of the jacket of the screw cap is preferably in one piece with one Guarantee and tear-off tape provided.
- Guarantee and tear-off tape As well as the overall closure in the preferred Embodiment from a single piece of a homogeneous plastic material in Injection molding technology is made.
- the essentially cylindrical shapes of the sealing olive and of the sealing strip and the short axiaie length of the same allow a relatively light and simple demolding and a correspondingly simply shaped manufacturing tool.
- the screw closure according to the invention can be seen in FIG. 1 a in the axis containing longitudinal section.
- the screw cap essentially consists of a cylindrical one Sheath 1 with an integral, approximately circular disk-shaped Head plate 2.
- At the free end of the cylindrical jacket 1 is also, also in one piece, with the jacket 1, a guarantee and tear tape 7, which by unscrewing the screw cap tears open from a bottle or tears from the jacket 1 and thus an already open one Features bottle.
- the cylindrical jacket 1 has a partially interrupted internal thread 8 and on it The outside is a handle corrugation 9, the application of torque when gripping the soft Closure cap should ease my fingers.
- the two elements which effect the seal with the bottle neck are the ring-shaped circumferential, cylindrical sealing strips 4 and also ring-shaped and parallel to it circumferential sealing olive 3.
- the outer wall of the cylindrical runs Sealing strip 4 as well as the inner wall of the cylindrical sealing olive 3 in section straight and therefore pretty exactly cylindrical.
- the inner wall of the cylindrical weather strip 4 runs axially parallel only over a relatively short section and is then in Rounded in the direction of the free end and sloping towards the outside.
- the outer wall of the cylindrical "olive" 3 has a bead with a flat cross section in the shape of a obtuse-angled triangle, the obtuse tip of this obtuse-angled triangle maximum outer diameter of the neck 3 or the bead defined and axially approximately coincides with the free end of the weather strip 4.
- Runs towards the head plate 2 then the outer wall of the cylindrical sealing olive 3, starting from the bead approximately parallel to the sloping and rounded end section before again runs approximately axially parallel and then in an arc in the inner wall of the weather strip 4 passes.
- FIG 1b the closure is shown approximately in natural size in a side view.
- the corrugation 9 on the outside of the screw cap, which should make it easier to screw on and screw on the closure, as well as the lower guarantee and tear-off tape 7.
- the closure is shown exactly to scale in FIGS. 1 and 2, the dimension R a is slightly less than 31 mm. Because of the true-to-scale representation, all other dimensions can also be derived from this, and the absolute and relative dimensions of all elements are disclosed by the figures due to the true-to-scale representation. It is understood, however, that the invention is not limited to compliance with the absolute and relative dimensions of the individual elements of the closure cap.
- the free end of the sealing olive 3 is significantly rounded, so that the free end of the Sealing olive 3, when it hits the edge of a bottle neck, slides inwards and is pushed away.
- the plastic screw cap is again in the same Cutting plane, but recognizable in the state screwed onto a bottle neck.
- the sealing olive 3 is due to the engagement of its rounded free end with the end face of the bottle neck 10 pushed inwards, the bead lies against the inner cylindrical surface of the bottle neck. As you can see, it is cylindrical Olive 3 pushed inward and compressed so that there is a corresponding elastic restoring force results, which creates a tight sealing engagement.
- the seal results from the engagement with the sealing strip 4, which, when its free, rounded or beveled end comes into engagement, is pushed outward with the end face of the bottle neck and then clamped between the outer surface of the bottle neck and a cylindrical bead 5 and is pulled through the bead around the upper outer edge of the bottle, this bead 5 being provided at the transition between the cap jacket and the top plate and having a substantially cylindrical inner surface.
- the sealing olive 3 is significantly thicker and preferably about twice as thick (without considering the bead) as the sealing strip 4, it is provided in the preferred embodiment of the invention that the outer diameter 2R 1 of the sealing olive, in the area in which it is engages the upper edge of the bottle neck, has a smaller difference to the inner diameter d of the bottle neck edge in this area than the sealing strip 4 with its inner surface relative to the outer edge of the bottle neck, since the sealing strip 4 is more easily deformable than the sealing olive 3 with the same force can also be clearly seen in Figure 2 and by comparison with Figure 1.
- between the sealing olive and the inner edge of the bottle neck when the closure is not screwed onto a bottle neck is only about a third to a quarter of the difference in diameter D - 2r 2 between the inner surface of the sealing strip and the outer edge of the bottle neck.
- the closure according to the invention ensures that both the upper outer edge as well as the inner surface of the bottle neck between two opposite Sealing elements are bordered and sealed. You have two almost equivalent and independent seals, so that in the case of unnoticed Damage, deformation or tolerance deviations of the upper edge of the bottle neck the likelihood that at least one of the two seals will provide an adequate seal guaranteed to be relatively large since it is unlikely to be damaged or deformation that affects both the upper outer edge and the upper inner surface of the Bottleneck edge captured, remains unnoticed.
- the bottle neck exerts radially opposite on the two sealing elements Forces that largely cancel each other out. This avoids that the conventional gaskets on one side that absorb these forces (or cap base) yields to these forces through slow flow and thus the sealing engagement gradually weakens.
