Abstract

However, existing systems have the drawbacks of not being very adaptable to all of the situations encountered and of not allowing easy and rapid realization of precise configurations such as outgoing or re-entering angles, differences in level between the elements in the case of surfaces. in staircase, particular angular orientations of the elements or recessed or projecting positions of one or more elements with respect to one or more others.

FIGS. 1 and 4 represent, from different angles, a set of elements for constituting barriers, comprising barrier elements 2, generally in the form of a frame, and connecting pieces 3.

In the example shown in the drawing, each element 2 is formed by assembling uprights 5 in inverted "U" and two heddles 6, one of which is located on the side of the upper part of the uprights 5 and the other on the side of the part lower of these.

As shown in FIG. 4, the element 2 of said assembly can have different lengths and can include simple bars as uprights 5.

In all cases, the two most outermost uprights of each element 2 have smooth branches 5a and circular section. These same two uprights may also include bases 7 for fixing the element 2 to the ground, having holes in which anchor studs 8 can be engaged.

The connecting pieces 3 are suitable for connecting two consecutive elements 2.

As shown in FIGS. 2 and 3, each of these parts 3 comprises two parts 10 and two bolts 11.

Each part 10 is constituted by a sheet metal strip shaped so as to have a flat central portion 10a and two curved lateral portions 10b. Each portion 10a is pierced with two holes 12 to receive the screws 13 of the bolts 11, and the radius of curvature of each portion 10b is slightly greater than that of the branches 5a of the uprights 5 located furthest from each element 2.

In addition, each portion 10b comprises a boss 14 projecting from its internal face.

The two parts 10 are placed one against the other at their portions 10a, so that their portions 10b constitute jaws 15 with rounded jaws, and can be tightened by means of bolts 11 to tighten the jaws 15 thus incorporated.

The heads of the screws 13 and the nuts 16 of the bolts 11 can receive decorative caps 17, by fitting or snap-fastening.

In practice, the jaws that constitute the portions 10b are capable, in a position of loosening of the bolts 11, therefore jaws 15, to be engaged on the branches 5a of the uprights 5 furthest from the elements 2; in an intermediate position for tightening the bolts 11, they are capable of retaining these branches 5a together while allowing the parts 3 to pivot and slide relative to these branches 5a; in a position for tightening the bolts 11, they make it possible to immobilize the parts 3 relative to these branches 5a in a determined position.

It is thus possible to place the different elements 2 according to many different relative positions, to produce barriers or the like of different configurations, as is shown in FIGS. 1 and 4. These barriers can in particular include outgoing or re-entering angles, differences in level between the elements 2 in the case of stepped surfaces, particular angular orientations of the elements or recessed or protruding positions of one or more elements with respect to one or more others.

The parts 3 can come to bear on the healds 6, both in the most frequent case of elements 2 located at the same level as in the case of unevenness, as can be seen in FIG. 1. The parts 3 are thus immobilized sliding relative to the branches 5a, which facilitates the tightening of the bolts 11.

The bosses 14 are intended to bear against the branches 5a during the tightening of the jaws 15. They make it possible in any event to ensure the perfect immobilization of the parts 3 relative to these branches 5a despite the manufacturing tolerances of said parts 10 and of said amounts 5.

Claims (5)

Set of elements for the construction of barriers, railings, guardrails or the like, characterized in that it comprises: - elements (2) of barriers, railings, guard rails or the like, having smooth lateral uprights (5a) and of circular section, and - connecting pieces (3) suitable for connecting the lateral uprights (5a) of two consecutive barrier elements (2), each of these connecting pieces (3) comprising two jaws (15) with rounded jaws at its ends and clamping means (11) which make it possible to clamp these jaws (15), said jaws being capable, in a position of loosening of the jaws (15), of being engaged on the lateral uprights (5a) of the barrier elements (2), to retain, in an intermediate clamping position of the jaws (15), these uprights (5a) between them while allowing the pivoting and sliding of the connecting piece (3) relative to these uprights (5a), and, in a clamping position of the jaws (15), to immobilize the connecting piece (3) relative to these uprights (5a) in a determined position. Set of elements according to claim 1, characterized in that each barrier element (2) or the like comprises at least one longitudinal beam (6) connected to said lateral uprights (5a), on which a connecting piece (3) can come in support.
