Description
The invention relates to a toothbrush with bristles an extruded polymer that is at least close to the surface Area with water- or saliva-soluble additives contains dental effects, as well as a procedure for the production of such bristles for a toothbrush.
Known toothbrushes only develop a mechanical one Cleaning effect due to friction between the Bristles and the tooth surface. They also unfold a massage effect on the gingiva.
Bristles have also been proposed, at where the polymer has antibacterial metal ions, e.g. in the form of zeolite (Derwent abstract 91-004868 / 01 JP 02-283312A) or antimicrobial, soluble contains organic additives (Derwent abstract 94-217929 / 26 to WO 94/13870 A1), and US-A-5 276 935.
The invention has for its object the scope to expand the well-known toothbrushes.
This object is achieved according to the invention in that Additive inorganic fluorine compounds that act split off fluoride from water and / or saliva, incorporated into the polymer in solid, finely dispersed form are.
The use of additives in the form of fluorine compounds with a dental effect is known for liquid and pasty dentifrices in order to take advantage of the tooth-hardening effect of the fluoride compounds. The effect is based on the fact that the human tooth enamel has a relatively high fluoride concentration in its outermost layer, which quickly decreases in the depth of the tooth. The amount of fluoride supplied with food and drinking water is usually not sufficient to keep the fluoride content in the tooth enamel stable. On the other hand, the fluoride content is decisive for the resistance of the teeth to the attack of bacteria and acids, which in turn lead to the most common dental disease, namely caries. The mechanism of action of such fluorides is based on the fluoride ions of easily soluble fluorides, which form a calcium fluoride (CaF 2 ) layer on the tooth surface, from which fluoride is released when the pH value changes in the saliva without stressing the fluoride reservoir of the tooth enamel. The antibacterial effect of such fluorides is also described, which presumably reduces the acid production of the bacteria in the plaque. Such additives are usually present in dissolved form in dentifrices.
In the toothbrush designed according to the invention these additives in solid, finely dispersed form bristles incorporated into a polymer. The additives are water and / or saliva soluble. The particular one in the area of the cleaning element near the surface embedded fine particles form a kind of reservoir, from which the active substance is slowly released and into the mouth and throat, especially in the area of the Bit is given because the commonly used Polymers absorb moisture to some extent penetrates into the interior of the bristle or when drying emigrates after use. Through this physical Processes also migrate the additives out of time Core of the cleaning element to the surface in order to to exert their effect there.
Inorganic fluorine compounds which release fluorides are preferably those from the group consisting of sodium fluoride (NaF), sodium monofluorophosphate (Na 2 PO 3 F), zinc fluoride (ZnF 2 ), ammonium fluoride (NH 4 F) and fluorosilicates.
The embedded in the polymer and especially on the Exposed fluorine compounds form on the surface Use of the dental care device in connection with the Mouth saliva or the water used for cleaning a slow flowing fluoride source that is natural Fluoride balance of the enamel, if necessary in connection with appropriately doped dental care products continuously updated.
Other inert, insoluble ones can be found in the polymer of the bristles Additives to increase the mechanical cleaning effect be incorporated in disperse form. This measure is known per se for toothbrush bristles to achieve a certain abrasive effect. In connection with the additives according to the invention, those must be pure mechanically acting additives be inert. they may in particular not be surface-active and also not increase their surface area when in use. These finely dispersed abrasive particles are removed when using the Toothbrush washed out over time. This will turn on the bristle new surfaces and thus again effective fluorine compounds exposed.
To make the additives work effectively, we recommend bristles that increase their surface area a shape that deviates from the elongated, smooth shape have, e.g. profiled, wavy or spirally wound are. Instead, the bristles can also be flocked be, the flock fibers also being filled with the additives are.
Another advantageous embodiment stands out in that the bristles consist of one soul and one Sheath exist, which are co-extruded, the additives are incorporated into the coat.
In this version, the soul can be out a polymer that the cleaning element necessary usage properties, such as tensile strength, Flexibility and fatigue strength (re-erection ability) there while the polymer for the coat primarily with regard to the embedding of the additives and its successive delivery is selected.
In connection with the invention are particularly recommended such toothbrushes with interchangeable bristles are provided, so-called interchangeable head brushes. Recommends the frequent change of the toothbrush or the exchange such interchangeable heads for wear and tear the bristles and the consequent decreasing cleaning effect or increasing risk of the gingiva, see above comes the regular exchange in accordance with the invention filled bristles are even more important. Of Brushes with a tight fit are particularly advantageous Single bristles, of which up to 2000 in the area of one usual toothbrush head can be accommodated.
The invention further relates to a method of manufacture the aforementioned bristles made of a polymer for Toothbrushes by extruding the polymer from a Melt, the water- and / or saliva-soluble inorganic, Fluoride-releasing fluorine compounds in finely dispersed Form to be mixed.
Practical studies have shown that the particular those known for their dental effects, Fluoride-releasing fluorine compounds that act as salts or hydrofluoric acid is in crystalline or amorphous form, when admixed to a polymer melt chemically and not be physically impaired, so sufficient are temperature stable, and in the extruded and cured polymer in unchanged form. A finely dispersed distribution of the additives can be found in same way as with all other solids, processed in finely dispersed form in polymers e.g. Color pigments or the like
Die Additive werden vorzugsweise aus der Gruppe Natriumfluorid (NaF), Natriummonofluorphosphat (Na2PO3F), Zinkfluorid (ZnF2), Ammoniumfluorid (NH4F) und Fluorsilikat ausgewählt. The additives are preferably selected from the group consisting of sodium fluoride (NaF), sodium monofluorophosphate (Na 2 PO 3 F), zinc fluoride (ZnF 2 ), ammonium fluoride (NH 4 F) and fluorosilicate.
The exact proportion depends on the Type of fluorine compound and its implementation in the surface of the polymer while using the toothbrush from.
The polymer melt is preferably also inert, insoluble additives to increase the mechanical cleaning effect mixed in when using the toothbrush be washed out slowly and new free surfaces Expose with the dentistically effective additives.
