Definitions
- the invention relates to a connector according to the preamble of patent claim 1, such a connector is known from the document EP-A-0 660 454 known.
- Connectors for connecting a line to a counter element consist of contacts that are fixed in a housing and have an electrical connection to the conductors of the line.
- the line is multi-core in general, with z. B. lines with round conductors or ribbon cable with strip-shaped conductors use.
- the housing of the connector is usually in several parts. Therefore, recesses in its interior are usually before folding or - stuck the possibly inseparably connected housing parts accessible.
- the connector also comprises an electronic component.
- a connector is for example from the EP-A-0 698 947 known.
- the device for. As a coil or a capacitor, connected to a contact of the connector and a conductor of its supply line and forms a filter that avoids the transmission of electrical noise. In this way, it is excluded that an unintentional release of the airbag is caused by electromagnetic interference.
- connectors having a unitary outer shape of the housing have different components. So it is for filtering out high-frequency interference when ignition of an airbag with alternating voltage usual, in series with the ignition charge a capacitor of large capacity in the To arrange connectors. In contrast, when used with a DC voltage for the same purpose a coil in series use. Alternatively, in the case of DC ignition, it is possible to use a capacitor of small capacity, which is connected in parallel with the ignition charge.
- the dimensions of the capacitor are substantially smaller than in the above-described components, according to the dimensions of the size of the recess in the connector is directed. If a uniform connector housing is to be used for all components, there is therefore the problem of a suitable definition of components with smaller dimensions. In addition, the production of such connectors proves to be expensive, since small components can handle only bad. Optionally, conductor bridges for the preparation of the different circuit arrangements are required.
- the initially mentioned EP-A-0 660 454 describes a connector having a printed circuit board-equipped flexible printed circuit which has two tracks which are closer to one another at a first end than at the other second end.
- An electronic component is connected via wires to the tracks of the circuit, at the second end thereof.
- the wires penetrate a partition wall carrying the circuit and the component hangs in the mounting position at the bottom thereof.
- the partition engages in mounting position in lateral recesses of the housing of the connector. It then lies in the housing so that the conductor tracks of the circuit can be contacted at their nearer first ends by spring contacts of plug-in elements, which can be inserted into corresponding recesses of the housing.
- the invention has for its object to provide a connector of the type described, which is easy to manufacture and allows secure fixing of an electronic component with smaller dimensions.
- the fixation of the electronic component on the board facilitates its handling significantly. This is especially true when the device is considerably smaller than the clear width of the circumferentially closed or open recess in the connector.
- the larger dimension of the board compared to the component simplifies its fixing in the housing of the connector. It lies with at least two opposite edges on the housing so that it is fixed by latching or positive engagement in the housing.
- the printed circuit board rests against a filling body which fills the completely or substantially closed recess in the direction perpendicular to the surface of the printed circuit board.
- the filler body is preferably made of plastic material, such as a foam, and is inserted into the recess or fixed to a housing part. It improves the fixing of the board and at the same time serves for vibration damping.
- connection of the electronic component on the board with the contacts and with the conductors of the line via printed conductors also simplifies the contact, since the distances of the contact positions can be adjusted by suitable arrangement of the conductors. It is conceivable, for example, that the distance of the contact positions on the board corresponds approximately to the distance of the contacts of the connector or the strip conductor of a ribbon cable.
- conductor tracks end at those edges of the board which face the entry openings of conductors or contacts into the recess. In this way, short, preferably crossing-free connections between board, conductors and contacts are possible.
- the electronic component is for example a capacitor which connects two contacts of the connector, that is connected in parallel with them.
- a capacitor of small capacity of about 0.1 nF to 10 nF, such as a ceramic capacitor having a capacitance of 1 nF is preferable. In particular, this makes it possible to filter out high-frequency interference well, as occurs, for example, when operating a mobile phone.
- a conductor track of the board a conductor of the line directly, d. H. connect without intermediate device, with one contact or multiple contacts of the connector.
- the board serves in this case as an electrical bridge and thus allows depending on the arrangement of the tracks different connections of the contacts.
- the conductor tracks are connected to conductive pins, which are arranged on the edge of the board and protrude beyond it.
- the pins are oriented approximately parallel to the plane of the board.
- the conductive pins are, for example, wires or stamped parts. They are fixed in any way on the board and connected to a contact of the connector or a conductor of the line, such as by soldering or pressing.
- the advantage of this embodiment is that the board can be handled in the same way as an electronic component with larger dimensions and contact wires, z. B. a choke coil or a capacitor.
- the connector can be produced with similar manufacturing steps and with a uniform housing specifically for the different, above-described embodiments of a filter.
- Fig. 1 is the lower part 1 of a connector again, which serves to connect the propellant charge of an airbag to the head 2 of a line 3 and is provided with contacts 4. Furthermore, the connector comprises a circuit board 5 with an electronic component 6, in the example a capacitor which connects the two contacts 4 via pins 7 of conductive material and conductor tracks 8 on the surface of the board 5. The capacitor forms a short circuit for high-frequency interference and thus avoids unintentional release of the airbag.
- the board 5 facilitates handling and assembly significantly.
- the concerns of their edge 10 on the wall of the recess 9 causes a suitable fixation.
- the distances of the pins 7 correspond to the distances between the contacts 4 and the contact element 11 for connection to the conductors 2, so that the contacting is much easier.
- Fig. 2 shows the connector in the assembled state, ie with attached to the lower part 1 upper part 12, between which the line 3 is brought out strain-relieved.
- the pins 7 have an angle 13, with which they rest against a wall of the recess 9. Due to the elastic material of the pins 7, this allows a latching of the board 5 in the recess 9.
- they are provided with a receptacle 14, in which the board 5 is inserted at the edge.
- the filler 15 is fixed to the upper part 12, for example by being molded on it.
