- the classification code proposed requires the use of sixteen bits and only a very rudimentary classification code could be defined with only three data bits (a choice of eight possible codes).
- bit b5 is used as a flag bit to enable the start of a sequence to be identified while bits b6 and b7 enable two bits of data to be transmitted for each WSS signal cycle. Thus over eight cycles a total of sixteen data bits can be transmitted.

Abstract
La présente invention concerne un procédé permettant de régler l'écoute de programmes de télévision en fonction de leur contenu. Ledit procédé consiste à envoyer des codes au moyen d'un canal de transmission de données auxiliaire qui indique le niveau de contenu de caractère sexuel, violent ou perturbant. Ces codes sont assemblés dans un signal de signalisation grand écran (WSS) et détectés par un récepteur. On programme le récepteur en entrant des codes correspondant aux contenus autorisés ou interdits qui font disparaître l'affichage et le son en fonction des codes transmis. L'invention concerne également un système, une source de programmes et un récepteur.
