Abstract

Die Erfindung betrifft ein Verfahren zum Betrieb eines Regenerators, wobei wiederholend Heiß- und Kaltgas durch ein Schüttgut 4 mit einem maximalen Korndurchmesser Dmax geführt wird, das im Ringraum 1 zwischen einem im wesentlichen zylinderförmigem Heißrost 3 und einem diesen umgebenden Kaltrost 4 aufgenommen ist und wobei im Boden B des Ringraums 1 mindestens eine Ablaßöffnung 16 zum Ablassen des Schüttguts 4 vorgesehen ist. Zur Erhöhung der Standzeit des Regenerators wird erfindungsgemäß vorgeschlagen, dass während oder nach dem Durchführen von Heißgas eine vorgegebene Menge an Schüttgut 4 abgelassen wird, so dass eine vom Schüttgut 4 auf den Heiß- 3 oder Kaltrost 4 ausgeübte Druckspannung reduziert wird.
