Definitions
- the invention relates to a connector for a ring-corrugated Coaxial cables having outer conductors, with a Plug head, which has a recess with an annular surface, which in the amount of an extension of the outer cable of a wave trough towards a wave crest Front edge area of the outer cable conductor contacted on the inside, as well as with a contact sleeve clamped against the plug head, the by axial from its plug end Slots are divided into radially resilient segments that join their free ends have thickenings, which in the assembled Condition in the first complete wave trough of the cable outer conductor lie and the plug on the contact sleeve protruding end area of the cable outer conductor against the Clamp the ring surface in the recess of the plug head.
- Such a connector is from DE-C-27 24 862 known.
- the contact sleeve is also a banjo bolt educated.
- Such connectors are common delivered completely pre-assembled at the factory, including to ensure, that the items during storage and not be damaged during transport. For mounting on the The connector must be dismantled again at the end of the coaxial cable become. On the over a predetermined length of its cable jacket liberated outer conductor, if necessary, first an O-ring to seal against intrusion pulled up by water; then the contact sleeve over the Outer conductor pushed until the thickening on the free Ends of the segments of the contact sleeve in the first complete Wave trough of the cable outer conductor come to rest.
- the plug head is attached and the one with the Contact sleeve one-piece banjo screw screwed into the former, until the one protruding over the contact sleeve End area of the cable outer conductor is sufficiently firm between the ring surface in the recess of the plug head and the corresponding counter surfaces of the thickening on the free ends of the contact sleeve is clamped.
- This clamping ensures both reliable contacting and Interception of the cable. (The production not of interest here the inner conductor connection was made for reasons of simplification not described).
- the assembly of the connector previous disassembly of the former on the cable is disadvantageous for several reasons. Especially parts can fall out, get lost or be exchanged become.
- the invention is based on the object, a connector to create the genus specified in the introduction, the can be easily, quickly and reliably mounted on the cable leaves.
- This object is achieved in that the Recess an inner diameter at least equal to that Outside diameter of the contact sleeve in the area of the thickening at the free ends of the segments plus about that Has twice the corrugation height of the outer cable conductor, and that a hollow screw enclosing the contact sleeve the covering of a tension path by turning into the Recess of the plug head the thickening of the contact sleeve positively surrounds and loaded in the tensioning direction.
- the proposed connector compared to that according to the prior art further advantage that the contacting surfaces are not be rotated against each other because the banjo bolt Contact sleeve only moves in the axial direction.
- the Defined position can in particular by the axial Travel of the contact sleeve limiting stop be determined.
- the contact sleeve on its cable side End of a peripheral area with an enlarged outer diameter have in the pre-assembled position with a inner collar in the banjo bolt cooperates.
- the connector is a Has device that in the span of the banjo bolt divided into two sections, the first of which is pre-assembled Condition of the connector and the second of it Final assembly on the cable end corresponds (claim 3).
- the Fitter can then use the pre-assembled connector if necessary for any reason, before mounting on the Disassemble the cable and then back into the pre-assembled one Bring condition.
- This device which characterizes the pre-assembly state, can from a marking of the position of the banjo bolt at the end of the first section (claim 4).
- the device can also be designed so that the for screwing in the banjo bolt in the recess of the connector head required torque at the end of the first Section noticeably increased (claim 5).
- the device from one between the Connector head and banjo bolt at the end of the first section arranged O-ring or the like. (Claim 6).
- the device can be made from a Material deformation located at the end of the first span section between those that are slidable relative to each other Share exist (claim 7).
- the contact sleeve is expediently captive in the banjo bolt kept (claim 8).
- the largest outer diameter of the contact sleeve in the amount of the thickening at the free ends of the segments and the width the slots between the segments matched to each other be that the thickenings are sufficient radially allow to squeeze far enough to insert the contact sleeve into the Insert the banjo bolt from its cable end can and the thickening under the inner waistband mentioned above to let the banjo bolt slide through.
- the invention is further based on the object simple and reliable method of assembling a Connector on a coaxial cable with a corrugated ring To create phase conductors.
- This task is for a generic connector solved according to the invention in that first the connector is preassembled so that a clamping surface of the contact sleeve itself at a predetermined distance from the clamping surface is in the recess of the plug head that now this pre-assembled connector as far as it will go Cable end is pushed so that the protruding end area of the outer cable between the clamping surfaces of the recess and the contact sleeve comes to rest, and that then the contact sleeve and the plug head clamped together become.
- the in Figure 1 in the pre-assembled state, so as it from Manufacturer supplied, illustrated connectors comprises a plug head 5 in which a plug inner conductor 60 is held over an insulating disk 70.
- the plug head 5 carries a screw cap, not specified.
- the plug head 5 has one Recess 51, which is bounded by a conical ring surface 52 becomes.
- a contact sleeve is located in the recess 51 6, the axial from its mating end Slits 61 is divided into resilient segments 62 that are attached to their free ends have thickenings 63.
- the contact sleeve 6 is in the pre-assembled state in a banjo bolt 7 freely movable, the external thread in one Internal thread in the wall of the recess 51 of the plug head intervenes.
- the banjo bolt 7 carries an O-ring 8 which the sealing screw screwed into the plug head the recess 51 ensures.
- Connectors include a sealing ring 9.
- the connector sits on the suitably prepared end of a coaxial cable, but has has not yet reached its final position.
- the coaxial cable comprises, as usual, an inner conductor 1, a cable dielectric 2, a ring-corrugated outer conductor 3 and one Cable sheath 4.
- the sealing ring 9 was on the cable outer conductor 3 raised so far that he entered the first free Wave trough comes to rest after the cable sheath 4.
- the sealing ring 9 seals the gap between the cable outer conductor 3 and the inner surface of the banjo bolt 7.
- the same can also be done in other ways, e.g. through subsequent Inject an elastic sealant into the annular gap and / or the space, in the present case the sealing ring 9 takes, reach.
- the hollow screw 7 is screwed into the plug head 5 only up to about half the length of its external thread.
- This position of the hollow screw 7 relative to the plug head 5 is defined by a marking in the form of a flat annular groove 71.
- a small O-ring could be located in the annular groove 71, so that the torque required to screw the hollow screw 7 further into the plug head 5 would increase somewhat.
- the marking 71 thus divides the screw-in length of the hollow screw 7 into two sections. The length of the second section is designated by L.
- the marking can also consist of a color ring, a small material deformation either on the plug head or on the banjo bolt, as well as any other device, instead of the drawn ring groove, which ensures that the pre-assembly shown at any point between the plug head 5 and the banjo bolt 7 condition of the connector is established and maintained.
- the contact sleeve 6 is initially in the Banjo bolt 7 freely displaceable (see. Fig. 1), however after placing the connector on the cable end (Fig. 2) inevitably brought into the position shown.
- the Front edge 31 of the outer cable 3 at the level of an extension the latter from a trough towards one Wave apex and initially runs against a run-up surface 63a on the inside of the thickenings 63 at the ends of the Segments 62 of the contact sleeve 6.
- This contact surface is 63a Part of a circumferential conical surface, which at the same time re-entrant profile of the thickenings is limited, that roughly is adapted to the corrugation profile of the cable outer conductor 3. So if when fitting the connector on the Cable end of the contact sleeve 6 first in any other than the drawn position, the forehead edge provides 31 of the cable outer conductor in connection with the ramp surface 63a for the contact sleeve 6 being taken along until it has reached the position shown. 3 further shows that each of the thickenings 63 inside one to the ramp surface 63a has opposite conical surface 63b, which in substantially parallel to the annular surface 52 of the plug head runs.
- each thickening 63 is one Cylinder segment surface 63c bounded by one in connects a radial plane annular shoulder 63d.
- the two the latter areas are designed to interact with yourself adjoining an inner collar 72 of the hollow screw 7, tubular front end 73 determines, as explained below will be.
- the tubular prevents Front end 73 of the hollow screw 7 a radial evasion the segments 62 of the contact sleeve 6, because the inner diameter the tubular front end 73 is only slight larger than the outer diameter of the contact sleeve in Height of the surfaces 63c (see FIG. 3) of the thickenings 63. Therefore, as soon as the re-entrant ring surface of the inner collar 72 of the hollow screw 7 to rest against the ring shoulders 63d the thickening 63 comes, the contact sleeve 7 in the axial Pushed onto the ring surface 52. The screwing in the banjo bolt 7 is then continued until a specified tightening torque is reached, the one secure contacting and clamping of the cone ring surface 52 and the approximately co-rotating surface 63b clamped Area of the outer cable 3 displays.

Abstract
Description
The invention relates to a connector for a ring-corrugated Coaxial cables having outer conductors, with a Plug head, which has a recess with an annular surface, which in the amount of an extension of the outer cable of a wave trough towards a wave crest Front edge area of the outer cable conductor contacted on the inside, as well as with a contact sleeve clamped against the plug head, the by axial from its plug end Slots are divided into radially resilient segments that join their free ends have thickenings, which in the assembled Condition in the first complete wave trough of the cable outer conductor lie and the plug on the contact sleeve protruding end area of the cable outer conductor against the Clamp the ring surface in the recess of the plug head.
Such a connector is from DE-C-27 24 862 known. The contact sleeve is also a banjo bolt educated. Such connectors are common delivered completely pre-assembled at the factory, including to ensure, that the items during storage and not be damaged during transport. Then the plug head is attached and the one with the Contact sleeve one-piece banjo screw screwed into the former, until the one protruding over the contact sleeve End area of the cable outer conductor is sufficiently firm between the ring surface in the recess of the plug head and the corresponding counter surfaces of the thickening on the free ends of the contact sleeve is clamped. This clamping ensures both reliable contacting and Interception of the cable. (The production not of interest here the inner conductor connection was made for reasons of simplification not described). The assembly of the connector previous disassembly of the former on the cable is disadvantageous for several reasons. Especially parts can fall out, get lost or be exchanged become. In addition, manipulating multiple parts is time consuming and annoying, especially at sometimes exposed assembly locations. As a result, there is also a certain residual risk that there are assembly errors. Another disadvantage of this Connector is that when screwing in the contact sleeve in the plug head the thickening on the free Ends of the segments of the contact sleeve inevitably on the outside surface area to be contacted and clamped rub the outer conductor, which often comes from a relatively soft copper alloy, so that it is circumferential material crushing can occur either corresponding bending of the segments of the contact sleeve result or by an increase in Pretend that the torque is already a safe one Clamping and thus contacting is achieved, which is in truth is not yet the case.
The invention is based on the object, a connector to create the genus specified in the introduction, the can be easily, quickly and reliably mounted on the cable leaves.
This object is achieved in that the Recess an inner diameter at least equal to that Outside diameter of the contact sleeve in the area of the thickening at the free ends of the segments plus about that Has twice the corrugation height of the outer cable conductor, and that a hollow screw enclosing the contact sleeve the covering of a tension path by turning into the Recess of the plug head the thickening of the contact sleeve positively surrounds and loaded in the tensioning direction.
This construction of the connector makes this unnecessary Disassemble before assembly, because the connector can now are delivered pre-assembled so that it is only on the as usual prepared cable end pushed on as far as it will go must become. Then the fitter only needs that Screw the banjo bolt into the plug head until a prescribed Tightening torque is reached, which indicates that the desired clamping of the outer conductor has occurred is. The only part that may need to be handled separately is the same as for the connector according to the state of the The first technology to be installed on the outer cable is the O-ring. However, this can also be dispensed with if a liquid, e.g. via a radial bore sealing material injected into the banjo bolt will or the seal between the connector and the cable by means of a shrink tube becomes. If, during the screwing in of the banjo bolt, the connector head is held, the proposed connector compared to that according to the prior art further advantage that the contacting surfaces are not be rotated against each other because the banjo bolt Contact sleeve only moves in the axial direction.
To ensure that the contact sleeve when mounting the In the correct position on the cable, it is useful if the thickening of the free ends of the segments of the contact sleeve each one a conical surface for the Front edge of the cable outer conductor and the cone angle is selected so that the segments are exceeded a certain, from the front edge of the cable outer conductor radially spring up the thrust surfaces (Claim 2). This ensures that the front edge of the Outer cable when pushing on the connector the cable end the contact sleeve in a defined position pushes in the thickening at the free ends the segments of the contact sleeve essentially in the amount of Ring surface are in the recess of the plug head. The Defined position can in particular by the axial Travel of the contact sleeve limiting stop be determined. E.g. can the contact sleeve on its cable side End of a peripheral area with an enlarged outer diameter have in the pre-assembled position with a inner collar in the banjo bolt cooperates.
It is particularly useful if the connector is a Has device that in the span of the banjo bolt divided into two sections, the first of which is pre-assembled Condition of the connector and the second of it Final assembly on the cable end corresponds (claim 3). Of the Fitter can then use the pre-assembled connector if necessary for any reason, before mounting on the Disassemble the cable and then back into the pre-assembled one Bring condition.
This device, which characterizes the pre-assembly state, can from a marking of the position of the banjo bolt at the end of the first section (claim 4).
The device can also be designed so that the for screwing in the banjo bolt in the recess of the connector head required torque at the end of the first Section noticeably increased (claim 5).
In particular, the device from one between the Connector head and banjo bolt at the end of the first section arranged O-ring or the like. (Claim 6).
Zusätzlich oder alternativ kann die Einrichtung aus einer am Ende des ersten Spannwegabschnittes befindlichen Materialverformung zwischen den relativ zueinander verschiebbaren Teilen bestehen (Anspruch 7).Additionally or alternatively, the device can be made from a Material deformation located at the end of the first span section between those that are slidable relative to each other Share exist (claim 7).
The contact sleeve is expediently captive in the banjo bolt kept (claim 8). For this, e.g. of the largest outer diameter of the contact sleeve in the amount of the thickening at the free ends of the segments and the width the slots between the segments matched to each other be that the thickenings are sufficient radially allow to squeeze far enough to insert the contact sleeve into the Insert the banjo bolt from its cable end can and the thickening under the inner waistband mentioned above to let the banjo bolt slide through.
To transmit the axial thrust of the banjo bolt to the The thickening at the free ends of the contact sleeve Segments of the contact sleeve have an annular shoulder on the cable side, which cooperates with an inner collar of the banjo bolt (Claim 9).
The invention is further based on the object simple and reliable method of assembling a Connector on a coaxial cable with a corrugated ring To create phase conductors.
This task is for a generic connector solved according to the invention in that first the connector is preassembled so that a clamping surface of the contact sleeve itself at a predetermined distance from the clamping surface is in the recess of the plug head that now this pre-assembled connector as far as it will go Cable end is pushed so that the protruding end area of the outer cable between the clamping surfaces of the recess and the contact sleeve comes to rest, and that then the contact sleeve and the plug head clamped together become.

eingreift. Die Hohlschraube 7 trägt einen O-Ring 8, der bei
in den Steckerkopf eingedrehter Hohlschraube die Abdichtung
der Ausnehmung 51 sicherstellt. Außerdem kann zu dem
Steckverbinder ein Dichtring 9 gehören. The in Figure 1 in the pre-assembled state, so as it from
Manufacturer supplied, illustrated connectors
comprises a
9 einnimmt, erreichen.According to Figures 2 and 3, the connector sits on the
suitably prepared end of a coaxial cable, but has
has not yet reached its final position. The coaxial cable
comprises, as usual, an
In the position shown in FIGS. 1 and 2, the
Hohlschraube 7 frei verschiebbar (vgl. Fig. 1), wird jedoch
(Fig. 2) zwangsläufig in die gezeichnete Stellung gebracht.
Fig. 3 zeigt weiter,
In the pre-assembled state, the
Fig
Stellung befindet. Währenddessen verhindert das rohrförmige
Vorderende 73 der Hohlschraube 7 ein radiales Ausweichen
der Segemente 62 der Kontakthülse 6, denn der Innendurchmesser
des rohrförmigen Vorderendes 73 ist nur geringfügig
größer als der Außendurchmesser der Kontakthülse in
Höhe der Flächen 63c (vgl. Fig. 3) der Verdickungen 63.
When pushing the connector further onto the cable end
