- the machine combining the two kinds of lapping pins includes two parallel lines of lapping by expansion, each of which has an expansion lapping spindle. a progressive lapping line comprising several lapping pins progressive, and means for bringing the pieces of either of the two lapping lines by expansion to the progressive lapping line.
- This machine which is designed for mass production is bulky and expensive.
- the object of the present invention is to provide a machine for lapping simple structure, relatively small footprint, cost reduced and of universal use, allowing to carry out complete running-in which may involve both a significant removal of material and obtaining high precision, with the possibility of control, with a reduced number of machining passes, the complete operation of running-in being of short duration.
- the lapping machine object of the invention, comprises a head revolver with a turret carrying several lapping pins which can be selectively brought into the machining position.
- Lapping pins carried by the turret include pins of at least two types different, preferably at least one expansion lapping spindle and several progressive lapping pins.
- an expansion lapping spindle requires power supplies (electrical and / or fluid) for control expansion and / or measurement. It can be provided, according to the invention, that the or each expansion lapping spindle carries, on its non-rotating part, a fixed connector part which can be automatically coupled with a movable connector part when the expansion lapping spindle is in the machining position.
- the movable part of the connector is mounted on a part of the machine participating in the beat movement.
- the movable part of the connector can be mounted on a workpiece fixed part of the machine.
- the turret the revolver head can carry, in addition to the lapping pins, at least one spindle carrying a diameter measuring head.
- the or each lapping spindle by expansion of the turret in this case includes a lapping holder frame fixed to the turret of the revolver head and comprising a movable transmission rod in axial translation having a first end located inside the revolver head and provided with a means of coupling, and a second end located outside the revolver head, for connection to the expansion rod (dagger) of the lapping expansion.
- the two coupling means provided one on the rod expansion control which does not participate in the rotation of the turret and the other on the or each lapping mount attached to the turret are designed to be automatically coupled when the lapping holder mount is in the machining position.
- This transmission of the expansion command movement to through the revolver head is possible for example on a revolver head such than marketed by the company PIBOMULTI, Le Locle, Switzerland.
- a revolver head such than marketed by the company PIBOMULTI, Le Locle, Switzerland.
- Sure this known revolver head, as well the rotational movement of the turret as the rotational movement of the pins carried by the turret are produced by a unique drive system, for example a electric motor mounted in a fixed position on the machine equipped with this revolver head.
- a transmission pin rotatably mounted in the turret carrier being movable in axial translation between two positions and attacked by the drive system at its end located outside of the head carries, inside the head, a toothing and a system of dog clutch.
- the teeth are engages with turret toothing, for rotation of the latter, and in the other axial position, the dog clutch system finding a socket with a complementary dog clutch system provided on each of the pins carried by the turret.
- the expansion control rod can be mounted at inside this transmission pin of the revolver head, being movable in axial translation relative to this spindle, so as not to be affected by the axial translational movement that said pin undergoes to be able to selectively ensure the rotation of the turret and the rotation of the spindles carried by the turret.
- the coupling means provided on the rod expansion control and on the transmission rod include on one of the rods a female part in the form of a yoke and on the other rod a male part in the shape of a head engaging the female part during passage of the frame carrying the expansion lapping to the position machining, said two parts being shaped so that they can, in this position, transmit the traction and thrust from the expansion control part fixed to the expansion rod (dagger) of the expansion lapper.
- the male part in the shape of a head preferably has the shape a spherical head, which simplifies its engagement in the part female in the form of a yoke.
- the lapping machine as illustrated in FIG. 1 comprises a frame 1 with an upright 2 on which a workpiece carrier 3 is mounted sliding vertically by slides 4 installed here about halfway up amount 2.
- the workpiece carrier 3 can be animated with a vertical back and forth movement, of adjustable amplitude, by a system beat control 5 comprising a motor 6 and a system crank 7.
- a set of lapping 8 with revolver head which includes a turret holder 9 with a motor 10 to produce the rotational movement necessary for lapping.
- a turret holder 9 is rotatably mounted a turret 11 which appears more in detail in Figure 3.
- the rotation of the turret 11, necessary for selectively bring the various tools of the turret 11, is effected by the action of a motor 12 mounted on the turret holder 9.
- the turret 11 is a six-turret positions carrying six tools offset by 60 ° with respect to each other.
- these tools include four progressive lapping pins 13, 14, 15 and 16, one lapping pin per expansion 17 and a measuring pin 18.
- the progressive lapping pins 13 to 16 can be of the type known and there is therefore no need to describe them in more detail.
- the expansion lapping spindle 17 can also be of known type, with integrated expansion control, for example by motor electric or by fluid cylinder, acting on a so-called expansion rod dagger which causes the lapping to expand.
- Measuring pin 18 is also of known type.
- the expansion lapping spindle expansion control 17 requires an electrical or fluid supply, depending on the type of order chosen.
- this supply takes place via a connector 19 which comprises a fixed connector part 20, integral with the pin 17, and a connector part 21 mounted on the upright 2 while being mobile horizontally under the action of a control 22, for example a cylinder with fluid, so that the movable part 21 of the connector can be brought into engagement with the fixed part 20 when the lapping spindle by expansion 17 is in the machining position, as shown in the figure 1.
- a control 22 for example a cylinder with fluid
- Such connectors either electrical or fluid. are good known and are marketed for example under the name of multi-fittings MCS machines by ST ⁇ UBLI FR-74 210 FAVERGES FRANCE.
- the machine according to figure 2 differs from the machine according to the Figure 1 only by the fact that the workpiece carrier 3 is animated with a beat movement by a beat control 23 with cylinder fluid 24.
- the lapping machine as illustrated in Figures 4 to 6 has the same general structure as the machine according to FIG. 2 (frame 1, upright 2, carriage 3 workpiece carrier mounted movable in vertical translation on slides 4 and animated by a flapping movement by a stroke control 23 with fluid cylinder 24), but is distinguished by a lapping assembly 25 particular.
- This lapping assembly 25 includes a revolver head 26 composed of a turret holder 27 and a turret 28.
- the turret holder 27 mounted in stationary position on the upright 2, so turns around an axis 29 inclined at 45 ° relative to the vertical, is crossed vertically by a rotary spindle 30 carrying, above the turret holder 27, a pulley 31 for its drive, via a belt transmission 32, by an electric motor 33 fixed on the upright 2.
- the spindle 30 which is also movable in axial translation, under the effect of a command not shown, between a low position (see position to the left of the spindle axis in Figure 5) and a high position (see to the right of the spindle axis in Figure 5).
- the spindle 30 At its end lower located substantially in the connection plane of the turret 28 to the turret holder 27, the spindle 30 has toothing 34 and dogs 35.
- the spindle 30 In its two axial positions, the spindle 30 is driven in rotation by the motor 33 which can preferably be a reversible motor at variable speed.
- an expansion control 36 for example electric or hydraulic, which acts axially on a control rod expansion 37 passing through the pulley 31 and the spindle 30 of the turret holder 27.
- the rod 37 At its lower end located in the plane of connection of the turret 28 to the turret holder 27, the rod 37 carries a 38 spherical head.
- the turret 27 includes, like the turret according to the mode of previous embodiment, several pins, for example two pins lapping by expansion 39 and 40 and several progressive lapping pins of which only pins 41 and 42 are visible in FIG. 4.
- Each of these pins includes in its part located inside the turret 28 of the dogs 43 which, when the spindle in question is in machining position, therefore in alignment with the spindle 30 of the turret holder 27, are facing the dogs 35 of the spindle 30 and are engaged with said dogs 35 when the spindle 30 occupies the low position as as shown to the left of the spindle axis in Figures 5 and 6. In this low position, the toothing 34 of the spindle 30 is inactive.
- Revolver heads of this type with rotation control of the turret and spindles by the same motor, are known per se and are marketed, for example by the company PIBOMULTI, Le Locle, Swiss.
- Each expansion lapping spindle is made up, as this is illustrated in Figure 5 for pin 39, by a simple mount lapping holder 44, the expansion control part 36 common to all expansion lapping pins being thrown back over the revolver head 26.
- the mount 44 on which the lapping 45 is fixed (visible in FIG. 4, but not shown in Figure 5) contains a transmission rod 46 movable in axial translation and comprising at its upper end a yoke 47 capable of receiving the spherical head 38 of the rod expansion control 37.
- the clevis 47 is designed so that when coupled with the ball head 38, which happens automatically when the spindle is brought into the machining position by rotation of the turret 28, the two rods 37 and 46 are integral with one of the other in axial translation and can thus transmit both pulling movement than pushing movement of the control expansion 36 to lapping 45 attached to mount 44.
- the other pins which are likely to be mounted on the tourellc 28 and which are not expansion lapping pins are devoid of the transmission 46, so that when passing these other pins in machining position, there is no coupling with the head 38 of the expansion control rod 37.
- this power supply can be do either with a connector of the ellin type 19 used in the realization of FIGS. 1 to 3, either through the revolver head 26.
- two hoses 48, 49 round trip
- two hoses can exit from the turret 28 at the level of the axis 29 to extend to a rotary joint 50 interposed between the mount 44 and the expansion lapping integrated diameter measurement.
- two hoses can be directly connected to this pin.
- the running-in could be carried out along a horizontal axis at vertical place.
- the beat control could act on the head revolver rather than on a workpiece cart.
- the total number of pins of the turret could be different. It would thus be possible to use, in the part of the invention, for example a four-pin turret, including an integrated measurement lapping spindle, by example according to European patent application 430 817, and three pins progressive break-in, as well as any other combination of spindles different types.
