Abstract
Description
The invention relates to a data communication device for a vehicle pulled by a motor vehicle, to which electrical operating energy is transmitted to the motor vehicle via a cable connection. The invention further relates to the use of such a data communication device.
Commercial vehicle trailers (including semi-trailers) regularly receive their power supply for signal lamps, lighting, electrical control circuits, including an anti-lock braking system (ABS) from the pulling motor vehicle. The consequence of this is that the electronic or electrical functional groups of the trailers do not function if the connection to the pulling motor vehicle is not established. An anti-lock braking system (ABS) has been mandatory for commercial vehicle trailers and semi-trailers for some time. With ABS, wheel sensors record the movement of the wheels and give appropriate impulses to a central control of the ABS. The function of the brakes is controlled via pneumatic valves so that the brakes are not locked. To activate the trailer's ABS, a plug of the trailer must be plugged into a standard socket on the vehicle so that the control unit receives its power supply. An error signal can also be transmitted via the connection, which indicates whether the ABS is working correctly or a self-test device contained in the ABS has detected a functional fault. Newly developed anti-lock braking systems have an expanded control system in which further data such as air suspension, type of fault and an electronic odometer can be integrated. In addition, pad wear monitoring can be carried out for the brakes and the corresponding data can be saved. This data is regularly output via a diagnostic socket by hand and requires manual documentation or a portable terminal to which the data can be transferred.
There is often a considerable need to tamper-proof the distance traveled by trailers. The electronic distance counting by counting the wheel impulses of the ABS fails if the driver foregoes the ABS activation for manipulation reasons, i.e. pulls the ABS connector and thus interrupts the power supply to the ABS caused by the towing vehicle. In this case, the ABS is no longer effective, but the pneumatically normal-acting brakes still work.
It is also known to equip trailers with a mechanical odometer on the wheel hub. However, these are prone to failure in rough operation and are also easy to manipulate.
The present invention therefore starts from the problem of being able to capture trailer data largely tamper-proof and to be able to transmit it in a manner that is easy to handle.
Based on this problem, a data communication device of the type mentioned at the outset is characterized according to the invention by its own power supply, a data acquisition unit and a short-range wireless transmission and reception device for transmitting data from the data acquisition unit to an external transmission and reception station.
The data communication device according to the invention provides data acquisition for the trailer autonomously from the towing vehicle, so that it is not possible to cut off the power supply by interrupting the power supply from the towing vehicle. The data stored in the data acquisition unit is transferred wirelessly with the data communication device according to the invention via a short-range transmission and reception device to an external transmission and reception station. As a result, the data communication can be carried out regularly when driving past an external transmitting and receiving station, the transmitting and receiving device of the towed vehicle expediently being formed by a transponder so that the data communication is triggered by the external transmitting and receiving station.
An essential prerequisite for the data communication device according to the invention is that it operates with an extremely low power consumption, so that its own power supply can operate reliably and, for example, not on empty batteries or the like. is instructed.
In a particularly preferred embodiment of the invention, a pulse generator is provided on at least one wheel of the towed vehicle which, depending on the movement of the wheel, emits pulses which at least also reach a power supply unit with a rectifier, so that preferably also used as measuring pulses Pulses the energy for the data acquisition unit is generated. Of course, a backup battery can be provided for the supplementary power supply if, for example, the electrical energy transmitted by the pulses should become too low during an extremely slow travel. As a supplement to the power supply, a connection to the power supply for the rear light, brake light and direction indicator can also be provided, from which energy can be drawn, which is preferably stored in a rechargeable battery.
The short-range wireless data communication preferably takes place in the GHz range. Such a data communication system, which works with a transponder in the vehicle, is known from proposals for traffic control technology, in particular the automatic collection of road user charges, and is explained in principle in DE 42 13 880 A1, for example.
In a preferred embodiment, the data acquisition unit provided in the data communication device according to the invention can be part of a control system installed in the towed vehicle for a brake blocking protection device. In particular, the pulse generator is preferably also a sensor of the anti-lock device. Since all the movements of the wheels can be determined and evaluated from the wheel impulses of the sensors of the anti-lock device, these can be used without difficulty to determine the distance traveled.
The data acquisition unit according to the invention can of course also record further data or be networked with other data sources. This includes all data sources of the known ABS devices. Additional data are identification data for the trailer and possibly other data that can also be used in particular to control an immobilizer function for the trailer, in order to allow only authorized use of the trailer. The immobilizer function can be carried out, for example, by a common effectiveness control of all brakes of the trailer, that is to say via the pneumatic valves belonging to the ABS.
The data communication device according to the invention can be used particularly advantageously in rental stations for trailers, in which an automatic issue and return control for the towed vehicle can be carried out with the external sending and receiving station. It is also possible to use the trailer data to control entry and / or exit controls.

The data transmitted by the transmitting and receiving
In the illustrated embodiment, a
Other data can also be transmitted via the
In order to ensure the own power supply required according to the invention for the

In the event of a very slow movement of the wheels 8, the DC voltage produced by the

The
For the first time, electronic, complete, largely tamper-proof and constantly controllable detection of the distance traveled by the trailer 5 has become possible.
