On a décrit, dans la demande de brevet français n° 79 05 478, un disjoncteur dans la chambre de coupure duquel sont disposés une résistance et des moyens pour insérer temporairement cette résistance dans le circuit du disjoncteur lors d'une opération d'enclenchement. Ces moyens comprennent un contact solidaire de l'équipage mobile, mais mobile par rapport à ce dernier. C'est la raison pour laquelle on le désigne par contact semi-mobile. Généralement, le contact semi-mobile est une pièce de tungstène choisie massive car elle doit subir le choc d'une opération de fermeture. Ce contact présente donc une masse dont la proportion dans la masse de l'équipage mobile est importante, contribuant ainsi à augmenter la puissance de la commande du disjoncteur.
