- the heat generation can be kept below 35 units. This is achieved by subjecting the cord to sufficient tension to stretch it between 2 to 10% while heating it for between 35 to 70 seconds at 440 to 490°F (226°C to 254.4°C).

- high tenacity yarns include man-made fibres for industrial uses such as sails, tyres and the like.
- High modulus yarns are high strength yarns with the advantage of high resistance to stretch and include yarns such as Kevlar, Spectra and Vectran (all trade marks).
- the dividing line between the first three categories is not well defined, but for the purpose of the present application low tenacity yarns would have a tenacity value of less than 45 cN/Tex.
- High tenacity yarns would have a tenacity value of between 45 and 95 cN/Tex with a 2% modulus figure (i.e. modulus calculated using the load at 2% extension) of between 550 and 950 cN/Tex. Yarns with values exceeding this would be considered to be high modulus yarns.

Claims (6)
- Procédé pour la fabrication d'un fil de ténacité normale pouvant être utilisé dans une toile à voile tissée comprenant aussi un fil à haut module, caractérisé en ce que le fil de ténacité normale est pré-rétréci sous une tension suffisante pour étirer le fil d'environ 1,5 % à une température supérieure à la température de fixation à chaud du fil de ténacité normale.
- Procédé selon la revendication 1, dans lequel le fil de ténacité normale est choisi parmi le fil polyester, nylon ou polypropylène.
- Procédé selon l'une quelconque des revendications précédentes 1 ou 2, dans lequel le fil de ténacité normale est chauffé à au moins 200°C sous une tension d'au moins 367 875 CN (375 g).
- Procédé pour la fabrication d'une toile à voile comprenant le tissage d'un fil à haut module avec un fil de ténacité normale, caractérisé en ce que le fil de ténacité normale a été pré-rétréci sous une tension suffisante pour étirer le fil d'environ 1,5 % à une température supérieure à la température de fixation à chaud du fil de ténacité normale.
- Procédé selon la revendication 4, caractérisé en ce que le fil à haut module est tissé dans la direction de trame et le fil de ténacité normale est tissé dans la direction de chaíne.
- Procédé selon la revendication 4, caractérisé en ce que le fil à haut module est tissé dans la direction de chaíne et le fil de ténacité normale est tissé dans la direction de trame.
