Der Universal-Ventileinsatz ist derart ausgebildet, daß der Mengendurchfluß des Vorlaufes von 0 bis zum maximal möglichen Mengendurchsatz regulierbar ist. Der KVS-Wert wird durch das Thermostatoberteil bestimmt. Der Vor- und Rücklauf ist über die unteren Naben jeweils an den Endgliedern angeschlossen. Das erste bzw. letzte Einzelglied des Heizkörpers ist dabei als Vorlauf ausgelegt, wobei in der oberen unveränderten Nabe des Einzelgliedes der Universal-Ventileinsatz zu Regulierung des Vorlaufs eingesetzt ist.
