Dans les étuis de rouge à lèvres de ce type, le bâton de rouge à lèvres est toujours exposé à l'air même quand il est rentré dans le corps. La présence de produits volatils dans le bâton de rouge à lèvres ou "raisin" produit par conséquent une dégradation de la qualité du produit dans le temps du fait de la fuite de ces produits volatils par la jonction non étanche entre la coiffe et le corps de l'étui.
