Description
- Figure 1 is an exploded view reflecting the assembly sequence of a number of component parts which are of a fundamental importance to the purpose of the present invention, such as for instance the rotating drum, the driving motor and other auxiliary parts;

Claims (3)
- Clothes washing machine, in particular of the household type, comprising a washing tub (1), a drum (2) rotatably arranged within said washing tub and adapted to accomodate the washload (3), an electric motor (4) adapted to rotatably drive said drum at different, pre-selectable speeds, and provided with means adapted to calculate the weight of the washload (3) on the basis of a plurality of parameters , said parameters including:the coefficients of both the constant friction and the friction that varies linearly with the speed, said coefficients being measured,the overall moment of inertia of the rotating masses, inclusive of both the masses belonging to the machine and the mass of the washload (3), said overall moment being calculated,the moment of inertia of the rotating masses belonging to the machine only, that is previously stored in the machine, said coefficient of constant friction and linearly variable friction of the rotating masses belonging both to the machine and the washload (3) being determined by means able to let the drum (2) rotate at a first predetermined speed (Vs) and then let it hold said speed of rotation for a pre-determined period of time, during said pre-determined period of time the torque delivered by the motor (4) being either measured or computed, characterized in that the machine comprises means able to:de-energize said electric motor (4) at the end of said pre-determined period,allow the drum to further rotate inertially, andmeasure a plurality of rotational speeds (Vamp(k)) of the drum (2) corresponding to a plurality of previously stored successive instants during said slowing-down period.
- Clothes washing machine according to claim 1, characterized in that it is provided with means adapted to store, before introducing the washload into the drum (2),the moment of inertia of said drum (2), said motor (4) and all other moving parts rotating together with said motor (4) and said drum (2);said speed (Vs) of rotation under steady-state operating conditions.
- Clothes washing machine according to claim 2, characterized in that said means calculate said moment of inertia by spinning the drum (2) at a predetermined speed , holding the drum (2) in said conditions for a predetermined period of time, then switching off the motor power, then measuring the time interval between two predefined speeds, said calculation comprising the coefficients of both the constant friction and friction linearly varying with speed.
