Definitions
- the subject of the invention is a ski boot made up basically a lower shaped variable volume shell surrounding the foot and heel and a collar-shaped rod hinged on the shell, shell and collar being provided with closure means and tightening.
- the boot plays in some way so the role of an interface between the ski and the skier's leg. So that the reaction of the ski on the snow surface is transmitted to the leg so immediate and precise and, conversely, that orders transmitted by the skier to the ski through the leg and interface is also passed from immediate and precise, the foot and the bottom of the leg should be perfectly held by the shoe the sole of which is rigidly connected to the ski by binding. Ideally, of course, the shoe becomes one with the foot and the bottom of the leg.
- the upper of the shoe should therefore satisfy two inconsistent requirements, namely, a apart, great rigidity so as to transmit the the efforts of the leg when skiing as well as possible, and, on the other hand, sufficient flexibility to its opening, so as to allow putting on and heaving, and its closing and tightening around of the leg, as well as to allow the flexion of the leg.
- two inconsistent requirements namely, a apart, great rigidity so as to transmit the the efforts of the leg when skiing as well as possible
- sufficient flexibility to its opening so as to allow putting on and heaving, and its closing and tightening around of the leg, as well as to allow the flexion of the leg.
- the position of the loop of the lower half-collar, arranged to provide diagonal tightening of the shoe along a diagonal passing through the instep and the heel, is such that during the bending of the leg, the lower half-clamp presses immediately on the hull and, under the effect of the bending which continues despite everything, this pressure on the shell, just below the instep, has the effect cause transverse hull swelling which reduces foot hold and therefore control ski.
- the diagonal tightening of the heel has become a myth that appears to have originated with the appearance of so-called entry shoes rear with a fixed volume shell in which foot support is ensured by diagonal tightening internal by means of a shaped part resting on the instep and pulled by a cable towards heel.
- This myth is such that the buyer of a pair ski boots, when trying on a pair of shoes, try to lift your heel to control foot hold.
- the diagonal tightening of the heel very punctual does not correspond to modern technique ski for which tightening is well distributed around the foot is preferable.
- the present invention aims to improve the holding lower leg by the collar constituting the rod the shoe without the need to increase the apparent stiffness of the collar, i.e. the stiffness that the user can see when putting on and heaving, and without the possibility of bending forward be reduced relative to a collar conventional and without the phenomenon of swelling be favored.
- the ski boot according to the invention is characterized in that the collar includes a bottom sash leg surrounding the shell above the joint of the collar on the shell and fitted with a closure loop and tightening whose tightening direction goes just above of said joint.
- This belt surrounds and therefore tightens the lower leg approximately the same height as the lower loop a traditional necklace, preferably slightly lower, and press the foot against the sole.
- the belt can consist of an additional piece and, for its maintenance, it is preferably crossed by the articulation axes of the rod on the shell, but it could be held in place by other ways.
- the belt could be part of the necklace, especially the lower part of the collar, in an embodiment of the necklace in two stiffness materials different obtained by a bi-injection process.
- the tightening direction of the buckle of the belt is preferably slightly inclined towards the rear so that the clamping force is present a component towards the sole.
- This component acts with a reaction component due to the enveloping shape of the back of the hull, these two components helping to press the heel against the sole of the shoe.
- the shoe represented comprises a volume shell variable 1 including the sole and surrounding the foot and the heel, shell on which a rod is mounted consisting of a collar 2 articulated on the shell 1 of known manner at two points approximately at the level of the malleoli, one of these joints 3 being visible in the drawing.
- This joint is constituted by a metallic axis constituted for example a rivet.
- the shell 1 is provided with two loops of tightening 4 and 5, the loop 5 having in this case a particular shape defining a extending extension forward.
- the collar 2 is provided with a buckle closing and tightening 6 located just below its upper end, which is further provided a strap 7 with VELCRO closure (registered trademark) coming lean on the front on a tab 8 of a inner comfort liner 9 to ensure, so known, tibial support.
- a buckle closing and tightening 6 located just below its upper end, which is further provided a strap 7 with VELCRO closure (registered trademark) coming lean on the front on a tab 8 of a inner comfort liner 9 to ensure, so known, tibial support.
- the shoe is further provided with a belt 10 surrounding the collar 2 just above its joint 3 on the hull the belt 10 therefore also surrounds shell.
- the belt 10 extends into an area about 4 cm above from the center of the joint 3.
- This belt 10 has a closing and tightening loop 11 similar to loop 6 and whose tightening direction passes over joint 3.
- the direction of tightening is tilted slightly backwards. In the example shown this tilt is about 8 °. It is preferably included in 5 ° and 15 °.
- the belt 10 is crossed by joints 3 and it is therefore held on the shell 1 and the collar 2 by these joints.
- the belt 10 is shown alone in FIG. 2. We see in this figure that it has two holes circulars 12 and 13 for the passage of joints of the collar 2 on the shell 1.
- Belt 10 exerts a clamping force on the front of the leg with a slightly inclined force F backwards with an inclination of about 8 °. This force breaks down into a force F1 transverse to the collar and a force F2 directed towards the sole. Due to the enveloping shape of the back of the shell, the clamping force generates a reaction having a component F3 directed obliquely in the direction of the sole. The components F2 and F3 have tendency to press the heel against the sole. The belt 10 therefore fully performs its improvement function support of the lower leg while contributing to maintain, perfectly sufficient, the heel in the shoe.
- the belt 10 could have a different inclination of the inclination shown. This tilt will preferably be between 5 ° and 15 °. The belt 10 could however be horizontal and ensure still its function of maintaining the lower leg.
- the lower leg belt does not have to be crossed by the joints of the collar on shell. Indeed, the belt could be retained vertically on the collar 2 by other means, by example at the back by a rivet or a lug or laterally by a groove or stops.
- the lower leg belt could be used in combination with a reinforcing strip 14 passing by the joints of the collar, under the belt 10, behind the hull and extending obliquely towards the front of each side of the hull, towards the sole.
- a reinforcing strip 14 passing by the joints of the collar, under the belt 10, behind the hull and extending obliquely towards the front of each side of the hull, towards the sole.
- a strip 14 made of a plastic rigid, opposes the swelling of the shell caused by the pressure of the collar 2 on the shell during the bending of the leg.
- Such a band is described in EP 0 380 444 in the name of the applicant.
- the belt could be a part of the necklace in a bi-material realization.
- the belt will advantageously constitute any the lower part of the collar surrounding the upper part of the hull and crossed by the articulation axes of the collar on the shell.
